  1. I am all for making early decisions to avoid inconvenience for fans but an 8am inspection when the issue is frost is ridiculous. The pitch has another seven hours in what will almost certainly be warmer conditions than overnight to thaw out. Wrong call on this occasion.
  2. Almost at the stage where I would like to see us win the Challenge Cup and then put this eminently forgettable season behind us now and concentrate on preparing to hit the ground running next season for a proper promotion push.
  3. We have been spoiled in recent years. When we set out on this great adventure nearly quarter of a century ago, I am sure most of us would have settled for watching a full time team playing in either of the top two divisions.
  4. The quarter of a million pound 'hole' in terms annual finances pertains when we are in the top tier with a number of games with two or three thousand away fans, a bigger home support, higher ticket prices, greater commercial income and much larger TV revenue. The inbuilt deficit for a mediocre season in the Championship is more like a million pounds. In my view the current board are doing a reasonable job in very challenging circumstances. In my opinion the use of professional consultants rather than enthusiastic amateurs in certain areas is a step in the right direction and will pay dividends in years to come.
  5. A lot of us were of the view that it was the wrong decision at the time and said as much.
  6. Another reason to have a single body administer the game in our small nation.
  7. Surely, after the effort pit into this excellent and very measured post, it deserves a comprehensive response. The ostrich approach will no longer suffice.
  8. This end of season fixture pike up is likely to favour the Arabs who are the only team in the division with a squad large enough to be able to comfortably handle playing twice a week.
  9. That is the sort of patronising comment usually made about us. It's no less patronising coming from one of our own fans.
  10. This is just a tentative suggestion which I will post just once on this public forum and should anyone wish to discuss it with me I would be obliged if they would PM me thereafter. I have been a fan and, very minor, shareholder of ICT since our inception and of Inverness Thistle for very many years before that. I have never been or wished to be a member of CJT together or any other supporters group let alone sought office. I have no intention in the future of becoming a member of CJT or any successor organisation let alone seeking office therein. I do know some of the protagonists, on both sides of this 'divide' to speak to but have no friendship with or allegiance to any. By the same token, I have no emnity towards any either. On that basis, should parties wish, I would be prepared to try to act as 'honest broker' between factions and individuals who clearly have different and but sincerely and strongly held views on the matter. I would be happy to organise and chair a meeting between all interested parties to see if consensus could be reached, with minimum further delay, on a way forward in the best interests of CJT and the wider supporter community in general. Although, in law and in particular, in terms of the articles of association, such a meeting could have no formal locus, there would have to be an element of formality in the form of a written agenda and written submissions made in advance to the chair and circulated, prior to the meeting, to all other parties to prevent it from becoming a general mud slinging free for all which would get us nowhere. Feel free to tell me to wind my neck in and mind my own business but, should anyone be inclined to take me up on this offer, feel free to send me a private message.
  11. There remains a great deal unsaid or ambiguous. It is good that some progress has been made and some limited information shared. However, members have an entitlement to question and, if necessary, challenge the actions of the office bearers. The organisation belongs to the members and is not the private domain of the committee. These are extraordinary circumstances and the only way proper way forward now is to call an Extraordinary General Meeting. There remains doubt and suspicion on the part of some about the actions and motives of others. That is not healthy and it's a boil that needs to be lanced before the whole body perished through sepsis. Delaying calling a meeting is merely putting off the inevitable.
  12. This post has nothing to do with CJT. Can we please keep the thread on topic.
  13. I appreciate that there exists bad blood between former board members, those who purport to be current officials and various others who may have been disappointed at not been elected in the past but acrimony and public blood letting does not help. If we are united in one thing it's the continuing existence of the club and with the hard fought for fan representation and share holding. It doesn't really matter how we got here. It's clear that mistakes have been made and matters probably concealed but there is no nothing to be gained from blaming or finger pointing. What is important is that the matter is retrieved before it becomes too late. The OP is a modest start but those who have chosen the 'burden' of office bearers must now stand up to the plate and be more forthcoming or be prepared to step aside voluntarily.
  14. A meeting with the Chairman is a priority but, after the chaos of recent months, it's vital that it is established that the current board is properly constituted and that any officials who approach the club have the legitimate locus to do so which is one reason why further clarity is urgently required.
  15. Positivity is all very well but we need to be realistic. There has been no sign in the last few weeks that we are remotely capable of achieving promotion this season
  16. Whilst a welcome change from the months of silence, that original post is utterly inadequate and raises far more questions than answers. Further clarity and explanation is required in the very near future. By that, I would suggest hours or, at most days, rather than further weeks or months.
  17. Effectively mortgaging future income is a recipe for disaster. I sincerely hope that we don't follow Sevco along that particular road to oblivian.
  18. A change of name for commercial reasons is one thing which might easily pass any of us by. A move, by one of the oldest clubs in the country, to an entirely new location is a different thing altogether.
  19. For a sports journalist, that question betrays a surprising ignorance.
  20. We will not be borrowing against the security of the stadium if for no other reason than, in the current commercial climate, no lender will entertain lending to a Scottish football club whether or not that borrowing is secured.
  21. I have to disagree. It was no coincidence that our defensive form improved radically when we started to play Raven regularly and equally no coincidence that it's dipped rather alarmingly after he left.
  22. We simply can't afford to have yet another former manager tending his roses at the club's expense.
  23. Can we be permitted just a little rugby related hype now ?
  24. We can't go on chopping and changing managers. Quite apart from anything else, we can't afford to. John Robertson has made mistakes but there have been promising signs and next year he will have the full close season to repair and will not be faced with nearly such a comprehensive and daunting task of rebuilding. He needs to be given next season at the very least.
  25. USH is no longer a requirement. The pitch freezing is seldom an issue partly due to our firthside location but flooding increasingly is and there's little doubt that the undersoil heating contributes to that and also limits what can be done to remedy it. If it's financially viable, I would be inclined to take out the undersoil heating in the close season.
