  1. I agree entirely. A very fair and sensible compromise.
  2. I thought it was odd that the OP had deleted the thread on who should be our penalty taker as it was an inteŕesting and topical thread which, last time I looked, had stayed more or less on topic. However, as it was their thread it was their right to remove it.
  3. A player who should now be in his prime who has never been remotely close to being a prolific striker at any time in his career. Even with our limited means, I am sure we could do better than that.
  4. Pleasure
  5. Perhaps he was sheltering under the rock when Hartlepool and Raith Rovers were relegated. The grave mistake at the time was not in parting company with John Hughes, it wasn't even in taking a punt on Richie Foran, which many of us thought wasn't a bad shout, it was in not replacing Foran in December by which time it was abundantly clear that, no matter how good a player he had been, he didn't have a clue how to coach or manage players.
  6. Did you climb under that rock at the beginning of the season after when our decline began and JH could do nothing to arrest it and recruited dud after dud despite having the highest budget in our history at his disposal?
  7. We could have should have won this game but the disaster that some have portrayed the dropping of two points as being has perhaps been put into some context by Ayr winning away convincingly today against Premiership opposition.
  8. Nothing much worse than a Saturday afternoon without a game during the season.
  9. Or, often enough, into the net.
  10. John Hughes oversaw the start of our demise and complained very publicly about his player budget which was the highest in our history and about three times what we have available now. He could not save Raith Rovers from relegation from the Championship and, in the process caused huge dressing room unrest and division. He is certainly not the man to lead us to promotion now. We are two games in to the league season. We are unbeaten and yet to concede a league goal. Why not just get behind the manager, coaches and players and support the team.
  11. The manner in which Duncan Shearer was dismissed was appalling and a PR disaster but may well have been the right decision. Our youth system has only produced half a dozen players who have become first team regulars in all the years we have existed and only one to be sold for a significant sum. I think we have to give the new development team at the club at least another two seasons to see if they can do any better before passing judgement.
  12. To be fair, there are a lot of much older fans who went when we were in the Premiership who are nowhere to be seen now.
  13. Billy McKay had three very good seasons from which we were fortunate to benefit. He was distinctly mediocre before that and worse than mediocre since. We need to look forward not backwards.
  14. I agree too that, in the circumstances, John Robertson picked the wrong team for the match and that any criticism of the young players involved should have been done constructively and in private. In public, the manager should have had shoulders broad enough to accept the bulk of the blame himself. However, JR has probably dine more right than wrong in his second spell and I can't think of anybody who is likely to do much better with what we have to work with. Although he has something of a record of walking in such circumstances, I hope and believe that he will stay and try to complete the task of getting us up as difficult as that might be.
  15. I see that Don Cowie has signed for County. I imagine he will be on quite a salary by Championship standards.
  16. The only real priority this season is the league and we are undefeated in the Championship since March. Let's get a few more league points on the board starting with three on Saturday.
  17. That length of ban would seem to me to be entirely reasonable and proportionate. Those calling for lifetime bans should bear in mind that there is a despicable character who has been judicially determined to be a rapist able to earn a living as a professional footballer in Scotland. Those responsible for Saturday's appalling behaviour did a very bad thing but hardly in the same league of evil.
  18. The point being that the majority of people when given a second chance don't abuse the privilege.
  19. How will you know if you don't give them the chance ?
  20. Getting off topic but more often than not people take full advantage of a second chance but, as with everything in life, there are exceptions. How, back onto discussing the actions of the club rather than the policy of CTO.
  21. Barrel.
  22. Yes. People very seldom get banned from this site and those who apologise for their actions and give an undertaking not to repeat them will almost always be given a second chance.
  23. Disgusting indeed and bans are appropriate but for life is too harsh. We all mature and learn and we need to encourage as many young and enthusiastic fans as possible. If these people can demonstrate that they are truly remorseful then they should get back. If not, as I've opined before, they should be banned for the rest of this season but with the proviso that if they offend again in a similar manner once they get back that ban will be extended to five years.
