Inverness CT -V- Motherwell
I know you were probably very disappointed when you posted this but that is an unwarranted slur on someone who served the club well in two highly successful spells with the club and who remains a club legend. Barry is developing well as a summariser and is a breath of fresh air compared to many of the inarticulate Glaswegians employed by the BBC in similar positions and has been quick in the past to shower us with praise when it's due. We were woeful on Saturday and, although I did not hear what he had to say, I am sure if he made any negative comments they were not borne out of any non existent sour grapes but the honest and accurate views of someone who is a fan and who was probably as frustrated as the rest of us.

Realistic expectations for this year??
Aberdeen beat us for second place by ten points, had a much better goal difference and beat us four games out of four last season. Since then they have acquired our best player. I know you see things through heavily tinted red and blue spectacles but Aberdeen are likely to fare better than us this season which is not surprising since their turnover is twice ours. If anyone is going to challenge Celtic it will be the Dons. I admire your optimism but, in suggesting that we will be in second place, you seem to be the only poster on this thread with unrealistic expectations. As I said in my previous post, top six would be a fine achievement given our resources and the key players we have lost. Last season was remarkable and a great credit to all concerned but there were factors in our favour which are unlikely to be repeated and to suggest that we might be pushing Celtic for the title this year on the strength of it puts places an unreasonable burden of expectation on manager and players alike. If this time next season we are still in the Premiership the club will have achieved success and the majority of fans will be content.

Realistic expectations for this year??
I see no anti Hughes agenda whatsoever in DD's post just pragmatic realism.

Realistic expectations for this year??
We have lost two very influential forward players in McKay and Watkins and the best attacking full back in the league in Graeme Shinnie. We are also without the coaching skills of Russell Latapy who, in my view, was an unsung hero of our success last season. For those reasons, I think it unlikely that we will repeat last season's unprecedented success. Personally, I would regard it as a successful season if we could achieve top six status again although a run to at least the semi finals of one of the cups would be a very welcome bonus.

Classic BBC Journalism
I suspect the standard will go down even further with the departure of the rather good and intelligent Jim Spence. What's the betting he'll be replaced by yet another inarticulate Weegie with some connection to one or other of the Ugly Sisters ?

Replacement Striker?
Do we really want someone who is only prepared to come once they have run out of any other options ?

Replacement Striker?
Would rather have Ray Reardon....

Much more importantly, they were a credit to themselves....and each other.

Surely the only place for such a 'Rangers Minded' individual is back in his spiritual home in Govan....

FC Astra Giurgiu -V- Inverness CT
Agree, in the cold light of day, we had the better of play and the bulk of possession against a side we ought to have beaten over two legs but were unable, despite all the possession, we were unable to put the ball in their net even once. Ofere aside, we have been shouting out for an experienced striker ever since Billy left. Lopez and Roberts may have potential but both are far from the finished article. If we are going to have any realistic hope of repeating last season's success, we need to bring in an experienced goal scorer from somewhere. A left back would be a bit handy too....

Our Twelfth Man
Agonisingly close but that ICT twelfth man more than did their bit, without doubt, men and women of the match......

Our Twelfth Man
It is a bit of a football cliché to refer to the crowd as an extra man but tonight I believe our support could just be the difference between progressing or not. What a magnificent effort by the 'Caley Away' crew who have travelled to Romania in such impressively large numbers. I am certain that the 500 or so will out sing the home crowd and, with this tie firmly in the balance, can inspire the team to victory. Well done to the Highland ambassadors, every single one of you, sing and cheer until you're hoarse and make sure that even more of us can join you at Upton Park for the next instalment of the adventure.....

Inverness Astra TV Coverage
Who would have guessed that a purveyor of such fine quality and reasonably priced merchandise would watch pirated streams......

It's taken far too long but it looks like sporting justice may have caught up with him at long last.

New Away Strip
Both strips are decent but I am personally disappointed that we have yet another home strip that doesn't fully reflect our heritage.

Inverness CT -V- FC Astra Giurgiu
Sadly for me, missed our European debut as I was away on holiday. Whilst I can see why we signed a second experienced 'keeper to cover while Brill remains sidelined, I am very disappointed that that 'keeper went straight into the team for this historic match ahead of Ryan Esson. Ryan stepped into the breach in the latter part of the season and fully played his part in securing European qualification through his performances in both the league and cup. Surely, he had earned the reward of playing in the European tie he had helped to make possible. A poor decision in my view.

New Away Strip
Our club does many things increasingly well but communication and PR can still be very amateurish.

Women's world cup
Agree that England's success was entirely a good thing and will, without doubt, raise the profile of the women's game in England. I doubt very much if England's success will do anything to raise the profile and promote the game north of the border. For that to happen, Scotland will have to achieve some high profile success of their own. Credit, however, to the BBC for giving England women good free to air coverage.

Trialists
Some well taken goals but it has to be said that the standard of defending at that level looked very poor and he would need to sharpen up for the Scottish Premiership. A contract until January initially ? As mentioned before, make a show reel of a player banging in goals and he'll look great. But if you consistently see goals being scored then you'll see a fair bit of bad defending. Conference football. Probably on a par with the Scottish Championship? Talk about talking the game in this country down. To suggest that our Premiership on a par with the conference is just about as ludicrous as your previously expressed view that the Highland League was and is amateurish pub football....

Penalty-kick taker?
So a no brainer. Greg takes the spot kicks.

Richie Foran
I noticed that our club captain didn't feature at Grant Street. I don't know what his prospects are after such a serious injury and long lay off but if we could get him fit and playing he would be our most significant 'new signing' for the forthcoming season.
