Orion Group Sponsorship
Given it's effectively a Caley shirt, maybe the refuseniks have been buying it in their hoards.

Keep calm and carry on
A reasonable enough post but does it really need a new thread when there are already at least three other threads on the subject ?

The Men Who Watch Goal Posts?
They were there to ensure those notorious sectarian bigots from Aberdeen didn't produce any displays loosely associated with 18th Century Irish Rebublicanism.

No, much like the current strip, that would only reflect one half of our heritage, albeit the other half.

Can we make Saturday a near sell out
Sometime after they have consulted Celtic to establish where and when they would like their remaining fixtures.

Inverness CT -V- Partick Thistle
I fear that Europe has gone. Fifth looking our most likely finish.

Why Hughes should STAY!
Because he was handed a two and a half year contract only months ago and, whatever the level of success or failure since, it would be morally wrong and against the traditions of the club to terminate it so early.

Orion Group Sponsorship
We'll have a new home strip for next season anyway...and the current away strip will remain and just have the sponsor details changed. Would be nice if it was a home strip that went some way to reflecting our heritage rather than being a Rangers tribute act.

Inverness CT -V- Partick Thistle
The first half was very poor and we were very fortunate to go in level. The second half and the change of formation and attitude was a clear improvement and credit must go to the manager for the change although it could perhaps have been done earlier. Not the most convincing of wins but very welcome at the current time. That's effectively three monkeys off our back. The manager's first home league win, the end of the collective goal drought and, from the point of view of his confidence, the welcome end to Billy's personal barren spell. Special credit must go to Dean Brill today. There is no doubt that he has been enduring a sticky spell but today he kept us in the game in the first half while Partick were in the ascendancy. Finally, regarding Richie Foran, there's no doubt that he is not as sharp and consistent as he was before his injury lay off but I think those who are suggesting that he's past his best may be just a tad premature. Just because he's 33 doesn't mean that his loss of form isn't temporary. Personally, I would not be surprised to see him back at his commanding and inspirational best next season. Vincent has, for whatever reason, not been in the best of form lately and is maybe in need of a spell on the bench.

Round the Table Chat with Yogi Hughes
Yes but, to be fair, which club's in house media does ask critical and searching question ? It's all about a PR spin but, in my view, that's fair enough and to be expected.

Goal drought
Eight minutes to score today before clocking up a round 500 goal free minutes.

Round the Table Chat with Yogi Hughes
We are all agreed then. Yogi is a nice guy.

Should Hughes be SACKED?
Whilst I am by no means advocating sacking Hughes. He should be given at least until the end of next season, I doubt very much whether there would be huge financial implications in doing so and certainly not paying up over two years of his contract. You've got to bear in mind the relative positions of the parties when he was engaged. The club, then riding high in the league, had numerous candidates applying for the job while Hughes was unemployed and his stock was pretty low with no other obvious job prospects on the horizon. The board is made up of shrewd and experienced business people and, given that Hughes was hardly in a position to dictate terms, would without doubt have a provision in the contract that, in the event of early termination, he would be entitled to no more than say three months salary. If that is not the case I would be very surprised indeed.

I agree with all that's been said. Maybe not ready to start every game yet but certainly merits the odd start and earlier appearances off the bench.

Should Hughes be SACKED?
I don't think there is a single one of us 'idiots' who wouldn't be delighted to be proved wrong.
-
Should Hughes be SACKED?
Agree with all of that except the last paragraph. I suspect that with Hughes we will be no better than about 8th to 10th next season but still expect at least one team to be worse than us. Still, the play offs might add excitement to the end of the season.
-
Should Hughes be SACKED?
Maybe so but good to see that the broad consensus, even from those of us who doubt his credentials, is that it is far to early to even be thinking of terminating his contract.

Should Hughes be SACKED?
My brother is a very likeable, enthusiastic, fun character who happens to be the same age as Yogi. He can also talk a good game. Not sure that qualifies him as the best candidate for next manager though.

Should Hughes be SACKED?
I agree. Sacking the manager at this point would be wrong and against the ethos of our club either at this point of the season or any time in the course of next season unless we find ourselves adrift at the bottom which I hope, with the players we have, is unlikely. In my view, as I've said above, the time to review matters, will be at or towards the end of next season. The one part of your post I would take issue with is 'he wasn't many peoples first choice'. If you look at at mammoth 'New Manager' thread he wasn't anybody's choice until he was appointed. However, he was the choice of the board and for that reason they and we need to back him now.

Motherwell -V- Inverness C.T.
For a team that can't buy a goal and has become so shaky in defence sixth place is not out of the question which, whatever the view of the happy clappers, I find disappointing from the position of being clear in second well into the season. The one bright positive from the last two games has been the potential shown by Ryan Christie on the big stage. There has been good news on players' contracts in recent months, maybe the best news of all would be to get this young man secured on a three year deal.
-
Should Hughes be SACKED?
With respect, they were queuing up for the job. Which, according to the board, was one of the reasons the appointment process took so long.
-
Should Hughes be SACKED?
In my view, it was astonishing that Hughes was appointed as manager given his record. His inability to speak in anything other than cliches didn't inspire any confidence either but appointed he was and on a two and a half year contract at that. Given that, for all sorts of reasons not least because it would be morally wrong of the board to jettison him so soon after showing such faith in him, it is right to give him at least a year and a half, that is to say until the end of next season. Personally, I think we can put aside ambitions of cup finals or top six finishes but the players we have at our disposal should ensure that we stay in the top league whoever the manager is. If at the end of next season there is no sign of improvement the matter should be seriously considered but, for now, whatever our reservations, he is our man and we should back him.
