If Ian Black is keen to stay then the club should get into serious negotiations with him straight away.His best years are ahead of him.

We need a forward player with some more experience than the current crop at the club.

We need, as a mater of urgency before the season starts, an experienced and reliable central defender as well as at least one forward with a track record of playing and scoring at SPL level or the equivalent.

Barrowman, Wood, Mcallister, Imrie, with the possible addition of Elliot and Rooney. If Marius goes, as is looking increasingly likely, our pool of forwards will be almost totally lacking in experience. I really fear for next season unless we sign at least one experienced striker.

I've moved this thread to the main board now that the signing has been confirmed. A good signing in my opinion. An experienced 'keeper who's likely to strongly challenge Mikey for the first team spot.

A very decent keeper still in his prime. Could be a very good signing.

We're more likely to meet them in the First Division the season after next than the SPL.

I agree, the decision seems very harsh indeed.

I would be in favour of two national leagues of 16 each playing each other twice giving 30 league games a season. I suspect, if that ever came to pass, the top league would be full time with the second tier a mix of full time and part time clubs. Below that there should be north and south regional leagues with the winner of each gaining access to the second tier assuming they met a few essential minimum criteria.

To be fair, Hibs are just back to pre season training whereas the Swedish season is well underway already.

The main problem with a 20 strong top league is that, while there may be 16 teams in Scotland at any one time, who could hold their own in a top division, it's very hard to think of a 20 strong league without the bottom 4 or 5 being simple canon fodder.

With Barry very much in the twilight of his career a pacey winger could be a good addition to the squad.

Employ someone skilled in public relations with a view to improving communication with fans and avoiding the PR gaffes which have become all too common.

If you read my original post you will realise that so would I but that SPL one and two would be an improvement on what we have now.

20 teams under the SPL structure and benefiting from the TV money would be an expansion.

SPL 1& 2 with ten teams in each would, although not ideal, be an improvement on the present arrangement.
