  1. Especially dealing with the Arbroath forward who looked about seven feet tall.
  2. Losing by a single goal at Tynecastle puts us on a par with Celtic. Although, these days, I a not entirely sure that's anything to boast about.
  3. We each have our delight barriers. As I indicated in my own post, I share your view that it was a positive result and represents decent progress on our League Cup form However, I have a slightly higher barrier as to what constitutes a 'brilliant resut' which is just a tad higher than scraping an untidy 1-0 victory against a part time team with half our budget.
  4. Can I have a pint of what he's just had please ?
  5. A great deal of work yet to do and all round improvement to make if we are going to be title contenders. Seldom pretty to watch but an improvement on what went on in the League Cup group and Shane showed skill and composure in taking his goal which made up for his miss in the first half. Some desperate defending towards the end but effective in keeping the ball out of the net Good to see Billy back although clearly still a good way short of match fit. A basis to work on and most importantly 3 points in the bag. Dangerous opponents next up who will be smarting from throwing away such a commanding lead and we will need to more improvement still but heading in the right direction.
  6. Great to see Billy McKay out there warming up. A fantastic option to bring on if we are in need of a goal or two late on.
  7. The League Cup was a disappointment but, as Gringo points out, that is hardly a novelty for us these days. With no single club having substantially greater resources than any other for once this season represents our best chance of promotion for years. However, this league will be highly competitive and half a dozen other clubs will be feeling the same way We cannot afford results and performances as dire as those against Stirling Albion and particularly Cove Rangers. With all due respect to Arbroath, any team looking to secure promotion this season should be looking to secure maximum points from this fixture. No room for complacency but it is vital that we get this most important of league campaigns of on the right footing.
  8. HT; Arbroath 1, ICT 2 FT; Arbroath 1, ICT 4 ICT; Sutherland Arbroath; Clark Joker.
  9. Not back at work. Just pursuing his favourite hobby !
  10. Credit and thanks to Gringo for his great efforts for many years up until now. Equal credit and thanks to MrCaleyJags for stepping into the breach. We are really lucky indeed to have such thoughtful members of the CTO community.
  11. Whilst we will be making our own way to Gayfield, what a delight to see the supporters bus running again. A very welcome stride on the road back to normality. Thank you to those who have made it happen
  12. A report from 'a member of the public' sounds a bit iffy to me. Have any other clubs in the league made a formal complaint? If not, it seems to me that the sanction is cruelly harsh particularly bearing in mind the circumstances we are currently live in.
  13. I was more thinking along the lines of 5-2 to us
  14. Happy to settle for the same scoreline as our very first league game all those years ago.
  15. McKay Doran 1st Macgregor
  16. Only greed and self interest stops there being 2 national divisions of either 16 or 18 with North and South regional divisions beneath.
  17. I agree. We were perhaps spoiled by a decade of (almost) unbroken participation in the top tier, numerous semi finals and a couple of national cup finals and an unforgettable foray into Europe. Personally, given time, I believe these sort of times may come again but oscillating between the top and second top tier may be our more natural position given our location, resources and fan base and we have not fared as badly in recent years as similar sized clubs such as Partick, Raith Rovers and Falkirk. For those of us raised on a diet of watching our neigbours, milkmen, PE teachers and firefighters playing part time in the Highland League often for beer money and when beating the likes of Clyde, Albion Rovers or Stirling Albion in the Cup counted as giant killing having a team playing in a half decent stadium, on a full time basis at a reasonable level is still a source of some contentment.
  18. Took me until October. I wish the club had even have been that quick.
  19. A disappointing League Cup group stage is hardly a novelty for us although admittedly this one was more disappointing than most. That said, the league season has not begun, our pre season preparation was severely disrupted and our most experienced forward has yet to kick a ball yet. How about giving the new manager and the players he has recruited a chance before condemning them out of hand.
  20. Thanks. I had, until today, succeeded in wiping that defeat from my memory.
  21. Not surprising since we were drawn in the 'group of death' with footballing giants such as Stirling Albion and Cove Rangers.
  22. Far from convinced that he has any more potential than our own young forwards and I would still like to see another defender.
  23. I would surprised if we don't sign another defender. Surprised and, more than a little, worried.
  24. I am pretty sure that I must have something important to do in the early evening on Sunday very far away from the nearest TV screen!
