There was a similiar statement before the St Mirren game i remember, but TeamTalk.co.uk had this to say today.... Inverness head coach Charlie Christie is confident Scotland Future midfielder Ian Black will soon sign a new deal with the club. The 21-year-old, whose current contract ends next year, has been the subject of interest from Dundee United this summer. Now, after meeting with the player's agent, the Caley boss believes Black will soon pen a new deal. Christie said: "The indications are that Ian is ready to commit himself and we are now in advanced negotiations to try to complete things."

  7. I think he should play on the left, he did really well there last season. Has a lot more drive than McBain and Morgan.
  8. I'd like to see Rory start ahead of Wyness.... :010:

    Mulgrew

To flat out sack/release him, Celtic would of had to buy out his conract, or a % of his contract. Think they've just said he is free to talk to another club, so they can avoid this lump sum payoff
  10. I get more and more worried every time i see Stephen Caldwell in the squads... Have we never learned. Just bought my tickets for the Faroes and France game :clapping04:

    Mulgrew

I can honestly say i will be gobsmacked if we got Mulgrew at ICT. Could definitely do a job, and has the possibility of making us money if good performances are noticed by larger clubs.
  12. Archie Knox has named his first Under 21 squad since being appointed as National Youth Teams Coach, for the team's difficult UEFA qualifier in Slovenia on 16 August. Three members of the talented Under 19 squad have been included - Calum Elliot, Steven Fletcher and Scott Cuthbert - while there is also a first call-up for Jay McEveley of Blackburn Rovers. McEveley did once play for England at Under 21 level, but has now elected to play for Scotland, for whom he qualifies through his Dumfries-born grandfather. However, Hearts defender Christophe Berra is missing as he is suspended. In naming an extended 26 man squad, the new coaching partnership of Archie Knox and Maurice Malpas will have the opportunity to work with and assess the players for this game and the home qualifier against France on 1 September. Player eligibility covers those born in 1984 onwards. SCOTLAND UNDER 21 SQUAD Goalkeepers David Marshall (Celtic) Craig Samson (Ross County) Iain Turner (Everton) Defenders Kirk Broadfoot (St Mirren) Scott Cuthbert (Celtic) Alexander Diamond (Aberdeen) Richard Foster (Aberdeen) Alan Hutton (Rangers) Jay McEveley (Blackburn Rovers) Paul Quinn (Motherwell) Steven Smith (Rangers) Steven Whittaker (Hibernian) Midfield Charlie Adam (Rangers) Scott Brown (Hibernian) Paul Lawson (Celtic) Charles Mulgrew (Celtic) Rocco Quinn (Celtic) Kevin Thomson (Hibernian) Ross Wallace (Celtic) Mark Wilson (Celtic) Forwards Craig Beattie (Celtic) Darryl Duffy (Hull City) Calum Elliot (Heart of Midlothian) Steven Fletcher (Hibernian) Ross McCormack (Motherwell) Steven Naismith (Kilmarnock)

    Mulgrew

Although, straight after saying that... from the courier in Dundee But with Kalvenes on his way to Tayside, the manager ruled out the possibility of bringing Celtic’s Charlie Mulgrew back to the club following his loan spell with them last season. I think this is from the Daily Ranger... Charlie Mulgrew's Parkhead career is over after a blazing row with boss Gordon Strachan. The Scotland Under-21 star has been told to find a new club after being punished with Aiden McGeady before returning from the club's ill-fated pre-season trip to Poland. Record Sport understands the pair arrived at the meeting point for the journey just 11 minutes late. But Strachan was fuming with his young stars and issued them with a fine of £10 for every minute they were late. The manager wasn't satisfied with their excuses and immediately told them he was doubling it. Only after Alan Thompson stepped in to pay for his skint team-mates was the angry confrontation resolved. A source close to Mulgrew last night said: "The manager told Charlie and Aiden they would be docked £10 for every minute they were late. "But after refusing to accept their reasons they were told it was up to £200 on the spot or £400 when they got back to Glasgow. "Charlie didn't have his cashline card and had to give Thommo the money back later. "It was the worst possible ending to the trip. "He's disappointed because he believes he's good enough to play for the first team. "He was taken off after a poor 30 minutes in a friendly against Legia Warsaw but he doesn't think he should be judged purely on that performance. "Charlie feels he hasn't been given a fair crack of the whip, compared to guys such as Mo Camara who he's vying with for the left-back position." Mulgrew could be handed a lifeline at Dundee United, with boss Craig Brewster keen on him after his successful loan stint last season

Not a chance we'll get him, Dundee Utd will be first in the queue, and i have a funny feeling the Dons will be going for him since they didna get Hammell. Hibs and Hearts could even go for him.

  18. Dundee Utd's response - http://dundeeunitedfc.co.uk/index.asp?tm=2...342&cd=2006 We are totally bemused by the statement released by ICT Chairman David Sutherland. It has been fairly common knowledge for some time that these players were of interest to our Manager and, indeed, the subject was discussed with ICT as long ago as last January. In the interests of a good relationship, we agreed to a 'gentleman's agreement' not to make an approach for these players until after the end of the season. Importantly, we upheld this agreement fully. Since the end of the season our Manager, Craig Brewster, has been in regular dialogue with Graeme Bennett, Director of Football at ICT, regarding the players. Only as recently as this weekend did further face to face discussions take place in a cordial attempt to break the impasse. Formal written bids for all three players have been made, in accord with the request of Mr Bennett and only yesterday Mr Bennett informed us that despite a reluctance to sell, "every player has a price." Graeme has proved very adept at these type of negotiations in the past. He has also, as everyone knows, proved very adept at using the media to suit the purposes of ICT and we can't blame him for that. It is however a bit ironic for ICT to now accuse us of the very same thing having done it so often themselves, particularly as we assumed that the players had been kept fully informed of our interest. In a fresh attempt to resolve the matter, it was decided to submit three separate bids today. We now understand the players have indicated that they wish to listen to what we have to say. The issue of today’s news release from Inverness Caley, however, does not auger well for future dialogue on this subject. Nevertheless, we remain available for discussions at any time.
  19. Aye, just noticed that on teamtalk and bbc However, Bennett insists the renewed publicised interest ahead of the SPL opener against St Mirren on Saturday is unwelcome. He said: "It is very disappointing that, on the eve of our SPL season, United have come back to us and have publicised the fact that they have done so. "It is not my job to sell them players. Our manager wants to keep them so that is end of the story. "It is unsettling when we just want to focus on getting ready to face St Mirren."
  20. Although i do like the way he says he'll be "trying to speak to Graeme Bennett". Thats right Bennett, dinna answer your phone!! Stay on the golf course.
  21. Brewster, meanwhile, is also seeking further talks with Inverness Caley Thistle director of football Graeme Bennett. It is understood the United boss is still keen to sign Ian Black, David Proctor and Darren Dods from his former club despite having previous offers rejected and ICT’s confidence that they can hang on to the trio. “I will be trying to speak to Graeme Bennett some time this week to see what the position is,” he said. DUNDEE COURIER
  22. Aye its in the paper copy, and a quick check over to the dundeeutd bbc messageboard suggests its in the dundee courier as well. Notice how he says he'll contact Graeme Bennett- why can''t he just contact him without having to tell the papers about it?
