  1. Whilst it is always disappointing to lose any game, I think we should be taking a lot of positives from today's game. After last week with Davis getting the red card and Hogg getting his dreadful season ending injury, I feared for today. I thought we would be very vulnerable at the back and without enough bite in midfield. I feared a gubbing. However, the BBC team were full of praise for the team and said we were unlucky to lose. Listening to the second half on the radio it certainly sounded as though the game could have gone either way and we had the chances to win it. The message I take from this is that we have the depth in the squad to be competetive against anybody and it should be just a matter of time before we put a bit of a run together and pull clear of Dunfermline who really should be heading back down at the end of the season. We will need to look for a central defender in January but we have enough talent in midfield to keep creating enough chances to keep scoring. Aberdeen are beginning to find form and therefore next Saturday is a big game for us. It will not be a disaster if we lose but if we can win it might trigger the start of a good run and set us up nicely for the new year. Let's hope for a big crowd getting behind the team.
  2. I'll give you a green one whilst I still can.
  3. Or alternatively you can just watch Strictly Come Dancing instead
  4. It must have been whiplash from his hair that felled him.
  5. Barrowman for the Pars against Celtic ffs.:irritated:
  6. Brilliant Yngwie. Well done Donnie. TB may not need a driver on the way down but he sure as hell will need one on the way back.
  7. Put that to music and you'ld have a half decent retort to the tinks when they come singing their silly songs. And if you don't like what Charles writes, don't read it. Simple!
  8. In that match the big decisions went our way. A cynical person might possibly think his enthusiasm to get the red card out yesterday suggests he was intent on evening things up. I wonder why that might be?
  9. I just don't get those folk who say we shouldn't appeal. Regardless of whether we think there is a not a cat in hell's chance of getting a fair hearing, you have to make the point. Not to do so means that by default you accept the current situation of poor refereeing, an inept (or worse) appeals panel and cheating by professional players. The more often injustices are made, the more important it is to draw attention to them. The club will look at the film very carefully, talk to Greg and if they conclude the decision was clearly wrong, then they simply have to appeal. TB's "assault by fingernail" comments after the match were spot on and it may be that he gets himself into trouble for daring to criticise the establishment in the way he did. I have stuck up for referees before because it is an extremeny difficult job and decisions are made in a split second. In general, bad decisions even themselves up over the course of the season and if it was a case of it just being a day when the big decisions went against us then I would be with Dougal on this - but it isn't. Apart from the unjust sendings off, we've had penalties and offside goals awarded against us but we get nothing. These decisions change games and there can be little doubt that with a fair split of big decisions going our way we would be comfortably mid table by now. No wonder fans stay away when matches are decided by players bending the rules of the game and referees letting them get away with it.
  10. If that happens when a neutrino is only walking, what happens when it runs? Maybe I'll find out before I was born.
  11. I think the whole saga of Gazza is incredibly sad. He was undoubtedly one of the most talented players of recent times who did things on the football pitch that thrilled, but equally he was/is an emotionally disturbed character who did things off the pitch which appalled. Behind his antics was a very insecure man who wanted to please people, wanted to be respected and wanted to be loved. He didn't have the inteligence to understand that his attention grabbing behaviour lost the respect and affection of the people he most wanted to impress and he lacked the strength of character to cope with that. He took solace in the bottle and hit out at those he loved in a misguided attempt to prove himself. You can never excuse wife beating but whilst some men think they have some right to physically dominate their partners my guess would be that Gascoigne is deeply ashamed of what he has done. He's not an inately bad person, he's a very sad person who, as a result of his own inadequacies, has not fulfilled the potential of his fabulous talent and who has hurt the people he loves the most. He needs to steer clear of publicity and live quietly somewhere where he has no-one to impress. As for a coaching post at ICT, if Butcher has any respect and affection for him as a man, that is the last thing he will offer him.
  12. It was a fantastic result and a fantastic day but we certainly rode our luck. What I had forgotton was just how good Fraser's save was late in the 2nd half - they really don't come much better.
  13. So he'll be one of their longer serving managers if he lasts that long.
  14. If we were to beat Barcelona 10-1 there are folk on this forum who would complain about our sloppy defending. Get real. We're bottom of the table and scored 6 away from home! How good is that! :ictscarf: Were there defensive frailties? I neither know nor care
  15. I sometimes wonder whether these rags actually send reporters to the games they report on. Far to often the "reports" bear no resemblence at all to the objective analyses we read on CTO.
  16. Seeing the google map image I am intrigued by the narrow strip of green between the two carriageways. I wonder if that is where a young Grant Munro used to play football? It looks the perfect place to have honed his sophisticated passing game. No space to the left, no space to the right. Hoof!
  17. Laurel Avenue was designed by Town Planners so there doesn't have to be a good reason for it being the way it is. I expect it won a design award at the time, though.
  18. I've only seen the highlights but what pleased me most was the quality of Tade's finishing. Both goals were finishing of the highest quality. That is bound to give him confidence and if he can continue in that form then it won't be long before we are saying "Adam who?"
  19. This is an easy subject to be cynical and flippant about but actually I am sure NHS Tayside will find this to be an excellent investment. As I understand it, this is aimed at de-stressing staff and helping staff to take a little time to have a bit of a laugh from time to time. Thinking of the NHS in days gone by brings back memories of strict matrons and discipline but there was also a lot more laughter and camaraderie amongst staff. Harmless practical joking was common, such as sending the new student to stores for a long stand ( they were sent back to the ward when they had been standing there long enough). These days such innocent pranks would be deemed both as unprofessional and as bullying. Not only is a bit of fun frowned upon, workload is much more intense and as a result staff absence from stress related illness is common. The cost of this laughter course is equivalent to the cost of just 2 or 3 days lost to ill health so if it helps staff to cope better with the stresses of the modern NHS then it is a great idea. Just a thought, but with the money the NHS will save by not having to pay staff who go on strike on Nov 30th, we could send staff from every ward and department in the NHS on a laughter course. Alternatively we could all have a laugh by getting Alex Salmond himself to launch an anti-obesity campaign for the NHS.
  20. That's precisely why so many of us feel he should be playing in midfield and not up-front. Playing as a striker and having to live up to his own hype has put a lot of pressure on him. Reverting to his more natural left midfield role will take that pressure off him and as a result he will probably score a few more coming in from deep positions. We need Foran primarily as a creator of goals not a scorer of them - goals he does score should be seen as a bonus. Hopefully Sutherland will get a run in the side but my worry is that our position in the table will put a lot more pressure on him to score than had he given a starting place at the start of the season.
  21. There is certainly an element of truth in what Romanov says, but it all sounds very hollow when you consider that with the money he has been prepared to invest in Hearts, he had the opportunity to break the mould, breathe fresh life into Scottish football and end the Glasgow monopoly. Unforunately his lack of knowledge of the Scottish game coupled with being a control freak means that he has blown that opportunity. He has also contributed to the image of Scottish football as a laughing stock with some of his bizarre behaviour.
  22. It's just as well that I read the article because I saw the thread title and thought the team weren't going to shave till next time we play Falkirk. It's a good cause and let's hope it coincides with bringing the youngsters some cheer on the pitch as well as off it.

    Bucs

Football? In my book it doesn't even count as sport.
  24. Makeshift defender gives away a penalty and we remain bottom of SPL. Munro scores for County who keep another clean sheet and extend their lead at the top of the SFL. Hmm.
