  1. No, that's not quite right. We could separate from the UK, it's just that we would have to live with worse public services and lower standards of living than we currently enjoy thanks to the phenomenal level of English taxpayers' money that they donate to us year after year. Anyone who says otherwise is ill informed or in denial.
  2. I'm all in favour of using public money to lure multinationals who would otherwise not be located here, but in the case of Amazon, they need a regional distribution centre in Scotland and will be here with or without subsidies. Laurence's points are not always valid, but if I was an independent bookseller I too would be fuming that a mega rich business that already has so many competitive advantages was being given taxpayers money too that isn't available to me.
  3. Interesting response from someone who has complete contempt for the current state of affairs and constantly greets about it but has no intention of moving somewhere more suitable elsewhere in the world. If it's ok for you to stay and try to change the things you don't like then why not Laurence? Nationalist hypocrisy at its finest.
  4. I'd imagine we're talking a few thousand pounds for a month's work, plus a well deserved bonus if we stay up. A worthwhile last throw of the dice when faced with the prospect of losing millions and sliding into footballing oblivion.
  5. Like others, I fear this move is too late, but it is welcome nevertheless and shows that we haven't given up.
  6. Fair play, looks like you called it right, unfortunately. Of the 7 votes for unhappy, only 2 were cast at the time, the rest have been added today!
  7. With us needing 5 points from 5 games to even have a mathematical chance of drawing level with Dundee, I note that it has taken us our last 8 games to amass that many points (and that includes the win v Rangers). An even more depressing way of looking at the size of the challenge is that since we beat Motherwell, it has taken 6 months to accumulate 5 points against the other bottom 6 teams!
  8. I've just noticed that of the 4 teams we have beaten this season, 3 have subsequently dispensed with their managers!
  9. It was touching to see the 4 perfectly placed Motherwell players turn and run to the ref to point out the huge mistake he was making.
  10. I went for the Ambivalent option, the nearest one to my more precise feelings of " hopeful, but very concerned by his complete lack of experience in this kind of role."
  11. Hartley would be a very decent candidate to lead our Championship campaign, if he'd take the pay cut, and fancied the challenge of building a new team with a minimal budget.
  12. He will certainly be remembered, though.....
  13. I wonder if emotion and guilt have played a part in the board's loyalty to a Foran, knowing that he and his family have committed to Inverness and that if he got sacked now with such an abysmal record in management his next job in football would be in the Highland League.
  14. Why, what on earth were the two of you doing? Oh wait, I see what you mean!
  15. And even if they did, it still wouldn't be enough!
  16. Will be interesting to see how the club word the forthcoming statement on the director resignation which followed Wednesday's board meeting, which obviously had nothing whatsoever to do with discussing the manager's future.....
  17. Surely to god Foran will be sacked in the morning, if not tonight. Been saying since we got pumped in the previous "biggest game of the season" 6 pointer. He is a great guy but a terrible, terrible manager, a complete and utter dud, he cannot organise or motivate this team and we are unlikely to win any of our remaining matches if he stays in charge. I don't blame Foran for his lack of aptitude, he tries very hard, I blame the people who thought the best option was to persevere with this failure and sleepwalk into relegation and at this moment I am absolutely effing fuming about it.
  18. Fixtures for us are as expected, in that we'll have played each side twice at home and twice away. In the corresponding fixtures already played this season, our record is: A County - L H Hamilton - D A Killie - D A Dundee - L H Motherwell - L So that was a grand total of 2 points! Huge improvement needed, as if we didn't know that already.
  19. Didn't actually realise you were afflicted too! I had relatives in the Sunderland area and I'd sometimes be taken to Roker Park when were down visiting. In fact I remember being at a cousin's wedding one Saturday afternoon when an uncle whispered over and said "This is boring.....taxi'll be here in 5 minutes!" and off we went. I think that ICT are slightly less doomed than Sunderland though.
  20. At the moment, the only thing worse than being an ICT fan is being an ICT fan whose "English team" happens to be Sunderland......
  21. I've been racking my brains to think of a manager who could do a worse job than Foran and I'm somewhat relieved to have come up with one. Claude Anelka - brother and agent of the footballer who despite any experience became Raith Rovers manager after investing £180,000 in the club. His strategy was to bring in a load of French amateur players. It didn't work and he didn't last long. I'd rather have Foran than him.
  22. Nah, he deserved more of a chance than that. To me, the 3-0 debacle at Hamilton at the end of January was when it became crystal clear that he couldn't organise or motivate the team.
  23. Agreed. Another sign of our disarray.
  24. Please go, right now. Abundantly clear that Foran cannot get much out of this team and does not have an aptitude for management. It's painful to watch someone so hopelessly out of their depth. Get an experienced manager in on a basic wage plus a 6 figure bonus if he keeps us up.
