  1. Cup results this season against SPL sides : Saints 3-0 Dundee Utd Rangers 0-2 Saints Hibs 1-1 Saints (90 mins) Falkirk 0-3 Saints Motherwell 1-2 Saints (and Saints should have scored at least 6) That's not just SPL form, it's Top 6 form. And having seen some of those games, they don't grind out results, they play excellent passing/attacking football that puts teams like ours to shame, and they deserved to win every one of those games. Based on tonight's game, I would take pretty much any of their players if they were available to us. Very impressive team at the moment.
  2. Nothing compares :007: Not even Partick on penalties last season :007:
  3. I don't see how on earth the players can lift themselves, they must be more gutted than the fans. The season is over.
  4. Noticed this in a Sunday times article. "I've noticed a huge turnaround in the last 12 to 18 months in Rory." "He's got huge assets - great body strength, he's good in the air and a great finisher". :017: :017: :017: WTF?? Are we talking about the same player? Great body strength? He gets blown over by the draught when somenbody runs past him! Good in the air? I don't think he's ever won an aerial challenge. Great finisher? So why does he miss most of the chances that are laid on a plate for him? The problem with Rory is that there has been NO turnaround in the last 12 to 18 months, he hasn't improved at all. I'm not using this post to have a go at Rory, merely to ask how Charlie can sing the praises of a player who bears no resemblence to the one we see on the pitch all too often.
  5. Although we had 3 strikers (I use that word losely) on the pitch we were still playing 4-4-2 as Rory went to left midfield. When Barry was finished it would have surely made more sense to being Caff on to shore up the defence and make sure we held our lead for the last few minutes of the game?

Yeah, that was them. I went there cos it was the only part of the ground that had any kind of atmosphere, or any kind of crowd for that matter. The club has come on leaps and bounds since then, and I think they are getting a new stadium built somewhere. How much longer will they be playing their home games at Villeneuve D'Ascq?

Confession time, who's been tear gassed? The events at the Lille - Man U game reminded me of an incident many years ago when I was a Lille Ultra for a season. The previous Saturday, there had been a bit of trouble during a game at Parc des Princes from PSG hooligans, so the exit gates from the stands got closed. However a few police were still on the other side, and those poor guys got a **** of a kicking from the Boulogne Boys. So at all grounds in France the following week, the riot police (CRS) were out in force, intent on causing riots and getting revenge on football fans. I was at a Lille home game, and straight after kick-off the CRS blocked the way to the toilets. It all started off fairly light hearted, with fans chanting "If you're bursting for a p1ss, clap your hands". As the game went on, people got more desparate to go, and some starting arguing with the police. This gave them the excuse they wanted to launch a baton charge against us, and they followed this up with a couple of tear-gas cannisters. It's not very nice, and does exactly what it says on the tin. After a minute the CRS let us escape the gas, but lined the exit corridor and hit us all with their batons as we exited the stand. B4stards.
  8. One day, ICT will get a place in Europe generated by Old Firm success.
  9. Put Caff up front, he has a much better strike rate for us than Rory or McSwegan!
  10. I saw an interview with one of our players last week, saying that Rory would be a good player if he gets his head sorted - which I presume referes to a confidence problem. Perhaps our resident psychologist can be of assistance?
  11. He was still called Barry Wilson back then. :017: Oh, right, I see what you mean. It was Akranes of Iceland. A Raith fan I knows refers to the away stand at Starks as the Barry Wilson stand, because his goal ultimately got them the moneyspinner against Bayern that effectively funded the stand. And when the team and the fans were waiting together for several hours for their delayed flight back from Iceland in what was effectively a barn with a bar, apparently Barry entertained everyone with his singing!

I'm praying Mantis was able to eventually get through and get the tickets. Failing, that, I'm sure I'll find another poncey sport to watch that day. When does the polo season start? :016:

Here's what he said regarding his shocking performance in Killie v Rangers : "I am disappointed in myself in that my own high standards have been compromised," he said. I think it's more a case that he sets himself low standards, and then constantly fails to reach them.
  14. Of course we'd have Barry Wilson on our wing, on our wing.
  15. With the Rangers team flight to Israel being piloted by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson who do you reckon should fly the plane when ICT make it into Europe?
  16. Actually, I do, frequently! I even said so in my wedding speech, shortly after I had said that the true love of my life is actually ICT - but seeing as they refused point blank to cook, clean and iron for me, I was having to marry Alison instead. I got away with it, just!

I have to confess, I will be at Murrayfield. (Is there a "hangs head in shame" smiley?) In my defence it's a freebie, with hospitality before and after. :drinking09:
  19. Best night of my life. Ah yes, the memories.... :003:

And on page 9 of today's Daily Record there is a photo of me and Gordon Brown, who looks thrilled to be in the presence of a future prime minister.

Yep, playing in the first team.
  25. I'm pretty gutted by the draw. But at least we're at home, and will get TV money.
