Agreed Alex, as I said earlier this may not be 'the big one' but scientifically theres no reason to believe that a killer virus couldnt spread globally very quickly, leaving us helpless.

Just reading a bit more about it and I'm not as confident as CaleyD that its just another round of press hysteria, as it now seems that the Mexicans have lied about the number of people who have died and the demographics involved, just like in 1918 most of the worst cases are males between 20-30. Not time to start stocking up on food and water just yet but it could kill a few people this one, SARS never caught on because it was difficult to contract, this swine flu apparently is very easy to contract, thus easy to spread.

I guess youre right Bob, if any of us do catch this swine flu then we should be able to deal with it. Theres other differences between now and then, on the negative side we all travel alot more, if a deadly virus really was to start spreading (maybe not this one) then itd take about a day to get around the world, it took 20 years for the plague to reach the UK from the middle east ffs. On the positive side we're all better informed and educated, in 1918 how would any of us know about Mexican swine flu? It'd trickle into the papers after a week or so but then half of us would be illiterate!

Just watching on the news there, its popped up in Spain and Germany now, aswell as the Far East and North America. The last time this one did the rounds it killed 50-80 million people globally in 1918, it attacks the young and healthy, those with a weak immune system were safe back then and should be again. Does anybody know anything about it? Is this another SARS or Bird Flu? (in that itll only kill a handful of people)

Both goals came within 5 minutes of each other, leaves you closer to Joe than you are to me, 2 weeks left but I wont count my chickens just yet, if you catch a draw or a decent price and I lose then itll be tight for the mystery week 37 of the 36 game season (if there was any evidence required to void that cup weekend a few months back I didnt play in, then thats it!).

Its a tough old game, cant remember the last time I had a bet on a game I was sitting watching, at least when you arent there you can turn the telly off and forget it. As above, next time, one more will come good before you leave, might sound like the mantra of the average shop punter but I've no doubt something will present itself.. Keep the faith!

This past while youve got Man United knocked out of the FA Cup, Bradford Bulls humped, Crewe close to being relegated.. Who elses season have you snookered lately? In all fairness theres little anybody can do to effect change in tomorrows games, last 3 weeks of the season will throw up some shocks in the betting, just need to weather the storm...

I thought I backed City to go for it and win HT/FT 15/8, was about to throw my slip away after 45, until I noticed I'd actually backed them to SCORE both halves @ 2/1...! That was never a penalty in the second half, but I'll take it.

The reason we cant afford to reduce prices is because the board backed Brewster with funds a fortnight before firing him. If we are in the SPL next year we need to look at ways of boosting season ticket sales, be it through different payment plans, pay-as-you-go offers or even just reducing the prices outright. Any offers we come up with need to be marketed effectively, that doesnt mean simply telling people they are available, but telling people why they should be buying them. I have no faith whatsoever that the club could administer any change to the way they currently sell season tickets.
