  1. Ridiculous statement. So they wanted more change to the voting structure. Fair enough. However they weren‘t given all the changes they proposed but were given a concession on the league structure voting. So instead of getting some of the changes they wanted, Gilmour thinks it‘s in Middens best interests to get NO changes!
  2. What is baffling is that Gilmour said he is voting no because the new structure still had 11-1 voting system. According to Milne in the press this was Middens stumbling block. So the Chairmen agreed to change it to 9-3 and he still said no! He seemed to have public reservations about the change not long after Chuckles Le Vert visited Midden Park.
  3. I understand what you're saying about the re-distribution. But look at the overall picture. Under the new proposed financial restructure there would have been a significant decrease in the prize money for the top 2 in the SPL. Ok, there's a chance we may end up 2nd this season (fingers crossed) but for years fans have complained that the top 2 teams get far too much money compared to the rest. 3rd - 8th would get slightly less than what they would get now. Slightly less. 9th-12th would get around the same as they currently get. Teams 13-24 would have got significantly more than what they already get. So the disproportionate amount of money that the top 2 teams currently get would have been shared with the rest, significantly helping the teams lower down and at the very worst, a slight decrease for teams 3rd-8th. What this would have meant for ICT and what appealed to me is if we were to get relegated within the next few years we would have the financial safety net of extra money in the pot taken mainly from the current disproportionate amount in the top 2. So, overall more teams will get stronger with the level playing field and more fairer financial distribution. ICT would benefit knowing that that financial safety net is there if we were to have a disastrous season.
  4. How? More money is would be redistributed from the SPL to the SFL so ICT would see a reduction in money through this avenue. 12-12-18 results in 36 games for the top 24 teams so that equals 1 less home game per season than now so again less money for the club. Sponsors are not gone to be queueing up to invest money in this product any more than they would now as it is still the same clubs just a different league system. So I don't see how it can possibly be financially a better package for us. Glad it has not gone through. I was going to paste in the financial re-distribution graph to answer but I see Don has already done that!
  5. Very disappointed that this wasn't voted through. Financially, it would have been a better package. At first reading I thought the structure was crazy but once I got my head around it I really liked the concept. It would have been much more exciting than the current structure. I'm reading on various social media such as Twitter that ICT fans are complaining that the club didn't consult them. I live in Glasgow now but I was well aware of the open meeting with CJT that was advertised on here, the official website, and elsewhere. I couldn't attend but read all the documentation from the meeting. Happy that Kenny voted yes but it's a shame it wasn't enough for others.
  6. They voted to change the voting structure today as well. Two Chairmen voted No. Gilmour and MacGregor. The 11-1 voting structure stays.
  7. With St Mirren voting no and County looking likely to vote no then it probably wont happen anyway. Personally, I quite like the new set up. If Kenny believes that it is a financially better option then I trust him that this is the case. In terms of the format, if we get into the top 8 then great! We all play each other and if it's as tight as it is this year, the European chase will be interesting. If we are unlucky enough not to make it into the top 8 then at least we can go to different teams stadiums we haven't played in a while. I have no issue with playing 'smaller' teams and it means we can keep an eye on the league below to see who the potential opponents would be. If everyone goes back to zero points after the split, then for the teams that are good enough, this shouldn't be an issue anyway. All in all, I like it for the chase for the top 8 and then European challenge. Or starting from scratch when we've had a pi5h season and travelling to other stadiums we haven't been to in a few years. Makes it much more interesting.
  8. Walk to parkhead in your kilt - problem solved! Decided that I shall do the Kilt Walk myself on the Saturday and attend the game on the Sunday (and then head out to Loch Lomond for the Kilt Walk party!)
  9. Happy with the fixtures, other than the Celtic game clashing with the Kilt Walk. The Highland March will go to Dingwall via Beauly, Cannich, Glen Affric, Kintail, Kyle (over the bridge into Skye and back) Plockton and then back through Wester and Easter Ross into Dingwall. Should be around 130 miles so a bit shorter than last few years but a heck of a lot of off road climbing to make up for it!
  10. Ach, it clashes with the Kilt Walk.
  11. Hmm. So Chuckles Le Vert turns up at Midden Park and then a week later they announce that they will be voting No.
  12. Yes of course we can. Thought he was playing really deep last night protecting the two young defenders. He is needed for his leadership alone as when he is missing there is none. Unfair to single him out in my opinion on a night when most if not all of the team performed below par. Just one of those days and we should just move on. He had a number of poor passes last night, but I think it's a bit unfair to say 'His passing was appalling once again'. He's been one of our best players this season, and more often his passing is excellent in games. I thought he had a great game the week before against Hibs for example.
  13. Jailender forgets this isn‘t the Fizzy Pop League. It doesn‘t work like that.
  14. Doing my very own SPL calculator formula I have worked out the most logical matches. Assuming Kilmarnock are the 6th team to join top 6... ICT are due to play 1 home, 4 away. Home: Well. Away: County, Killie, Perth, Celtic County are also due to play 1 home, 4 away. Home: ICT. Away: Killie, Perth, Celtic, Well Killie are due to play 4 home, 1 away. Home: ICT, County, Perth, Celtic. Away: Well Perth are due to play: 3 home, 2 away Home: ICT, County, Well. Away, Kille, Celtic Motherwell are due to play: 2 home, 3 away Home: County, Killie. Away: Perth, Celtic, ICT Celtic are due to play: 4 home, 1 away Home: County, ICT, Perth, Well. Away: Killie teams with imbalance of fixtures are: ICT, County, Celtic, Kilmarnock ICT and County have too many away games. Killie and Celtic have too many home games. Perth and Well do not need to change. So this means that (logically)to give ICT and County the 1 home game they need, there's 2 teams that can swap their fixtures. Killie and Celtic. Therefore, Celtic and Killie have to go to Sneck and Dingwall (it doesn't matter who goes where). This means all teams have either 3 home and 2 away or 2 home and 3 away. Now, ICT and County would then have 2 home and 3 away. They cannot play home games on the same day, so it may be a case of one team having fixtures of A,H,A,H,A and the other having something like A,A,H,A,H. Of course if they timetables to have a Saturday / Sunday fixture this wouldn't be an issue but that is up to the TV companies after the fixtures are made. I tried to calculate the fixtures using all the variables I could think of. But with this set of teams in the top 6, 1 team could get screwed with 3 away games on the trot. I got as far as 4 teams and then it all went to pot each time. I think this could be the most difficult to predict fixture list.
  15. Yet to sort out the finer details (especially since we may not even be going to / from Dingwall), However there are quite a few on the route. The Five Sisters of Kintail are in our way - three of which are Munros, which have to be climbed.
  16. If it pans out like that then surely it would be the shortest walk in history of the Highland Marchers - Inverness to Dungwall. Unless they go via Wester Ross. Actually, we will go via Wester Ross if we get Dingwall. Already done the route planning just in case a few months back. Out to Beauly, then follow the Highland Cross route to Kintail, keep going to Kyle. (It would be rude not to spend the night in Skye as well) double back over the bridge, head north up towards Kishorn then East through Wester and Easter Ross down into Dingwall!
  17. Oh well! All irrelevant now! Perth have equalised.
  18. One other scenario is all of that happens but we draw with St Johnstone (rather than losing). In which case they move onto same points as County. As things stand, St J have 1 less goal difference and County have scored more goals. So if we all the other results occur and we draw with St J, County would need to lose by 2 or more goals to Hearts.
  19. A tartan top would be a great marketing idea. It would have to match the MacRae tartan for me to buy it though ;)
  20. I would agree that the debate won't really get going until the TV debates happen, and they could be very influential. However it'll be Alastair Darling, the head of the Better Together campaign, rather than the PM. I don't think Cameron actually has any official role in all this, and if he got too involved Salmon would play the "meddling in affairs that are for the Scottish people to decide" card. I'd imagine it would be Darling v Canavan. Dennis Canavan Chairs the advisory board of Yes and his role is a closer match to Darlings in the Bitter Together Camp. Tactically it would be a smart move by Yes as Canavan (former Labour MP) is 'old school' Labour and would give New Labour Darling a right rollicking. It would show there's more than just SNP and Salmond who are pro-independence.
  21. Is there the tiniest hint of irony there? Should have worded that one better! The stories in the press about the oil boom that will help the British economy surely strengthens the case for the use of oil in an independent Scotland. They have been saying that there is not enough oil for an independent Scotland. Now, all of a sudden there is enough for the United Kingdom.
  22. For anyone wanting to contribute to the effort, have a look at the Yes shop website. http://shop.yesscotland.net/ Or if you're ever in Glasgow, visit the offices / shop in Hope Street. Here's my favourite Yes Scotland merchandise and it's only a tenner.
  23. Is he off for pints with Marvin in Fannies?
  24. It's always going to be an uphill struggle against the bias of the BBC and other news sources. The stories in the press recently however surely proves the Yes campaign right. This picture sums up perfectly why I will be voting YES to an independent Scotland on 18th September 2014. It's not about anything that has happened in the past, or anti - English / Welsh / N. Irish sentiment. It's about the potential of Scotland. If the people of Scotland vote YES, I am certain they will not regret it.
