  1. I can actually see the SPL saying no tbh. They are full of corrupt erseholes and the thought of having two teams 'all the way up there' will make them break out into a cold sweat.
  2. More than the cost of buying Rangers.
  3. Hmmm. I wonder what Tommy Cumming has to about this. The only negative is it might churn up the pitch. The Lowland teams might not be happy about this and vote against it (if a vote is still neeed?) Other than this, great to take McGegors cash. Great to help our neighbours and for Highland football. I do hope that if they do need to use Caledonian Stadium, they have VP sorted in time for our away trip there. I'm sure we'll get a better atmosphere at VP.
  4. Real shame. Nice guy. Thoughts are with Laura and the rest of the family.
  5. Wow did not see that one coming! Ton scored in 87 minutes and 90 minutes to equalise. So that's 12 points clear and Falkirk at Dingwall on Saturday.
  6. County 1-0 up at half time against Morton. If they win this game, and beat Falkirk on Saturday they could clinch the title on the 24th - if Falkirk also lose on the 24th. If it doesn't quite work like that, then it is still quite likely they will win the league mathematically before April.
  7. When Butcher came in and up untill we got relegated, I would say 'fairly statisfied'. Once we got relegated on the last game of the season I went down to 'neither satisfied or dissatisfied' as I couldn't blame him for relegation. I remained 'neither satisfied or dissatisfied' for the first half of Division 1. From the second half of Dvision 1 untill April last year I had jumped up to 'Very Satisfied'. On the announcment that Munro and Duncan were getting booted, I went down to 'fairly satisfied' (I presumed there was a grand plan but wasn't happy with the decisions). As the pre season unfolded I would say I bordered on Fairly Satisfied - neither satisfied / unsatisfied. As the season started up untill present day, I would say I have decreased to 'fairly unsatisfied'. Some of the signings have been poor and tactics baffling at times. But the new season will bring new faces and hopefully a bit more stability. So, I am optomistic that I will be fairly or even very satisfied by this time next year. I may be fairly unsatisfied at the moment, But I am happy for Butcher to be here for the long haul - there will be ups and downs! A few wins against County next season will be fantastic for morale!
  8. He does shout and bawl but if you watch him closely, he has quiet words as well. I would imagine that he would have had some motivating encouragment for Roman either a few minutes later or at half time.
  9. Kevin Byers for Forfar (Forfar 4-1 Brechin)
  10. Innes for Arbroath (Arbroath 2-0 Dumbarton)
  11. Bavidge for Peterhead (Elgin 1-2 Peterhead)
  12. I shall be walking to this one with Gringo Jnr. We shall race the buses... but require a head start so heading off on the Wednesday!
  13. Och well. As the happy clappers would say..... it's the taking part that counts!
  14. It's a conspiracy Capital
  15. I guess the difference might be that he is still reaping the benefits of all the muscle that the banned drugs helped build up, thus giving him an unfair advantage. Essentially a "proceeds of crime" argument....I'm not sufficiently up to speed on the medical side of things to give an opinion on whether or not that is true. However, it does seem strange that other sports/organisations would not subscribe to this theory if it were true. The drug he took regularly was THG - Tetrahydrogestrinone (spelling!?) Any positive effects would have left his body years ago (assuming he has indeed stopped taking it) As a matter of fact, prolonged use can cause problems for the immune system, so if he competed tomorrow, there would be no significant positive effects from the use of it pre 2005.
  16. Another 6-3 victory, please!
  17. I would probably lean to this conclusion. However, it's not UK Athletics that's banning him - he competes in Athletics events all the time. It's the British Olympic Association that won't let him compete - the same mob that think football is an Olympic sport. If we don't win any track medals, and Dwain is sitting at home, who do we blame for the lack of medals!? He's the best we have. Other countries Olympic bodies do allow the athletes to compete after serving out the punishment. Therefore Team GB Athletics are already at an unfair advantage
  18. Should he be allowed to compete in the Olympics? Currently. after serving bans for drug taking, other countries then let the athletes compete (if they're still good enough). Dwain is doing very well at the moment and I think his most recent high profile medal was silver at the European indoor 60 metres last year and gold the year before. His times are still great and if allowed to compete, he would be Team GB's best chance of a medal at 100 metres. Since serving his 2 year drugs ban from 2003 - 2005 he has emersed himself in lots of charity work as well as a stint in NFL Europe and a failed trial with Castleford Tigers (Rugby League). He is still an exceptional athlete and whilst other countries are letting former drug users compete, Team GB refuse. It is now going through the courts and I believe it will be towards the end of next month before the High Court rules whether he can or can't compete. So, should athletics / olympics / sport be about giving someone a second chance? Or would it set a bad example..........
  19. From the BBC aricle: What would happen to this season's results and the SPL table if Rangers liquidate before the end of the season? "However, the remaining unplayed fixtures would be automatically awarded as a 3-0 victory to the opposition, but there is nothing in the rules to decree what actually happens in this circumstance - the SPL is privately describing the situation as "uncharted waters". Thank feck Dunfermline don't have to play them again!!!
  20. I have to say that Doiugal is spot on regarding people not having same opinions. I wouldn't use this site if there weren't any debate. This thread is a very healthy thread that is justified after many grumblings about Butcher. Look at the thread title. 'Butcher OUT?'. Notice the question mark. It's an invitation to discuss the management, not to tell people that they shouldn't have any negative opninion on the management team! So, to answer the question, Butcher Out? No. But I agree that he cannot take us any further. But who could? On our budget we will always struggle to be a top 6 team. What I expect from the management however, is to be able to construct a team that seem motivated to at least challenge, or play well. There's no shame in losing to the likes of Dundee United - there is when the players don't seem to care. It is Butchers team now and he is responsible for them. He must re-construct in the summer and he will be given the chance. But as I have said in a previous post, if he makes the same mistakes and panic buys, we WILL have another bad season and will be likely relegation contenders. Hopefully he has learned from last summer and in the new season, he gets the team (no doubt with lots of new players due to contracts running out) winning or at least playing well / motivated. As for Derek Adams. No way would I ever want him near this club. He has done a great job with County but he appears to be deeply unpopular with many in Dingwall. I don't think he is a very nice person - he is certainly a very angry man! Look at all his touchline bans. I can't remember who it was, but remember him punching one of his players in the dresssing room after a match. He's a loose cannon - possibly a competent football manager in terms of tactics but too much of a bomb scare imho.
  21. To be fair, I don't like the way the article is worded (Not Thomas but the Daily Record) "INVERNESS defender Thomas Piermayr has taken a swipe at the locals in the Highlands" Well there are many of us who do support the local team - we do have a small support but not any smaller than your average bottom half SPL team. The Record are making it out as if there are no Caley Thistle fans in Inverness. I hope Thomas notices the 3,000 fans that turn up on Saturday.

  23. If Rangers are liquidated before the end of the season and therefore can't fulfil the rest of the fixtures they will automatically be expelled from the SPL? Correct? With Rangersexpelled and therefore relegated does this mean that the bottom club would survive the drop? Or would the bottom team still be relegated and 2 First Division teams promoted?
