D D already we are beginning to see eye to eye, the malt sounds good and so is your last quote re Foran. If things turn out well I may give you a glass...cheers
  2. Where are the goals coming from? That will be dependant on the style of play but I think there are plenty possibilities as most of the squad have made the net bulge at one time or another. Mutumbo gets a yes from me I like the enigma touch to him too.......very useful.

DoofersDad, you see it your way I see it mine. I don't think we will agree on this one so rather than draw this out any further let's just hope we can both find a way to get behind the new regime. Incidentally that seven year old who applied for the Manager's job, have to rule him out I'm afraid, He might want one of his mates to replace our Raven!

There are times Kingsmills when people have to stick up for themselves, especially when he thought he was doing things for the betterment of the Club as well as himself, There are two sides to most coins!

An excellent post indeed by D D if you are looking to set out a case for the Board against Hughes. Sadly it is flawed, It reads as if T B was a very successful manager compared to J H which indeed he was not. Yes, he did leave us in 2nd position thanks to the players that had been found for him, and yes following the J H induction period there was a long succession of very poor results but that was because the team was learning a very different but much more effective style of play. We came through the bad period and our style of play flourished so much so that other Clubs tried to follow suit. We were playing great football until the unfortunate spate of injuries started and our squad was becoming more and more depleted as we lost some of our most successful players J H had to find replacements quickly, I'm sure the board responded in the best way they thought they could but the money allocation or the calibre of player for the money just was not there, more injuries came along and things became frantic for a manager who was doing his best to recapture a period of superb play and results. Our play became bitty and we slumped in style and performance. How frustrating that must have been for a manager trying to build back into a successful winning squad. He knew he could work wonders for the Club and he really wanted to prove that. ''If it ain't broke don't fix it'' is a relatively new saying and one which stifles innovation. Our new style when we had the players to operate it was the best we ever had and brought us to the highs we had aspired to achieve. I really believe he would have gone on to even greater heights should circumstances have been more conducive. Anyway he still has my gratitude for what he has done for ICT.
  6. Well at least the new manager can't get slated if they were not his choice. Oh but then I am not so sure about that, it could depend on his management history.

There are many different kinds of records Kingsmills........some are getting quite worn out !

Good luck to Yogi, He did us proud and who knows what could have happened if the money was there and the Board gave him their backing. I for one give a big thank you to the man and his vision of how football should be played, glimpses we saw when we were at our best. I only hope his possession and passing style can be adapted and adopted into a more offensive strategy by the new regime.

The Raven will fly again, ........ Welcome back David
  10. There's also the local guy Forty Packets or the Welsh lad of German extraction Reece Otto
  11. Good interpretation, well said. It also strikes me as if when J H went to the board to ask for money to buy cover he was given inadequate allowance to achieve his selection and had to settle with what he would get at the price. So much anti Hughes speculation on this thread, disgusting, after what he has achieved, no other manager has done this for us. I think it is time some people should think a bit deeper, analyse thoroughly why we haven't achieved their expectations and set realistic targets for the future. That includes the Board and some so called supporters. Must say I laughed at some comment about John not showing the fans enough respect !!!!!!
  12. Billy small k on the radar......hope we can afford him.
  13. On he other hand if we hit them hard with a couple of early goals we could see opponents that are utterly demoralised with the loss of premier status, a club in turmoil snd their manager about to take an early bath. We should see very entertaining stuff from ICT though
  14. A few more players signed up and a settled injury free Team he will get us in the top six and possibly a final next season, Hopefully he will get a longer contract for himself with ICT too.
  15. You have got me there with the BBC address Scarlet and childrens' hour. The programmes 'we' listened to were more 'grown up' along with Dick Barton there was PC 49, the Quatermass experiment The Goon show etc etc. but I think we have been here before in another thread. Jock Watt will no doubt tell you I. e. If he wasn't out there strutting his stuff on the dance floor at Dalneigh. Apologies I digress again.
  16. How that injury list held us back.
  17. Maybe they are getting the message ?
  18. It's a disease spreading through OAM but I daren't say too much
  19. The reason J H had the Club's biggest budget was because of the injury crisis and the loss of 'Stars' which was very severe, Players had to be brought in hurriedly for cover. OK some of them didn't make the grade but to me that is understandable, they were new, had to fit in to a different style of play and had in some cases to play out of position, not easy from any angle. J H may not get everything right but he has had more success here than any other manager we have had, we should be grateful for that and there is every chance that the new season coming up will see us back to quality play and good results.
  20. Well done again Gavroche#
  21. Our football over the last two seasons has been generally entertaining .......some comments on here haven't been All managers bring in players that don't satisfy the fans from time to time.....some have Sometimes it is prudent to show players the door regardless of what fans think, not that I am in favour of that but it is all down to circumstances some of which we never get to know about.
  22. I'm tired of negative comments too.
  23. Well said, this nonsense is picked up and discussed and passed on and can breed discontent amongst supporters.
  24. Maybe I was watching a different game to some of those on here, I found it enjoyable to see the team playing with determination, even more so in the second half and it was great to see football being played again in a Hughesesque fashion with space being used to the full and accurate passing. I was never in doubt that we were going to take three points. Draper again my man of the match, barging his way into the box playing an attacking role, delighted he got his goal he deserved it. Have to say J H is correct in his comments regarding strike power, We do lack that finisher. Chances went a begging again, Take sentiment out of the equation and we would all be shouting for the money to be put to that use Don't get me wrong I want David Raven in the team as much as anyone does but don't decry Devine he is young and learning fast just like Tremarco is and if you think about it Billy small c was the same when he first came to us. I would like to see Raven get at least another season. I also want to see Devine flourish There are very hard choices to be made. It is very disappointing to see conspiracy theories taking over these pages which is fuelling the anti Hughes campaign, just remember what he did for us last season and that another managerial candidate at the time has a side that didn't do much last season and is only a fraction above us this season with a team that has not had the troubles we have experienced.

David Raven a favourite of mine too and I hope this rumour is unfounded but surely that is all it is a rumour at the moment and should be moved to rumour mill.
