  1. I've said on other threads that unfortunately I think we've seen the best of Denzil, and I can't see him hacking it for anyone else at SPL level. To be honest, apart from one good spell he had for about 2 or 3 months alongside Dargo a couple of seasons ago, I think that, generally, he has been a disappointment since he came back from Hearts. His best days for us were clearly in the lower divisions.
  2. I moved to Hilton when I was about 11. Prior to that we lived in a tied house behind one of the big nursing homes on Island Bank Road, where my Dad was Head Gardener. Fortunately I'd started supporting Caley before I moved, otherwise I might have ended up supporting Thistle, as many of my friends in Hilton did.
  3. Thought I'd win while you are all still sleeping
  4. Nice one, IHE. Maybe Orion will sponsor him, eh? By the way I hope you noticed Exeter's result!
  5. Statistics are like a newly painted lamppost, illuminating, but not to be leant on!
  6. As I have said on Brewster threads before, I was not pro his coming back last year. However, once here I felt he should be given a decent crack of the whip, and in my opinion that is until the end of the 2008/09 season. I have maintained this view consistently, even through the dark days of the long run of defeats and the problems with Black, and Wyness's contract, when many on here would have cheerfully strung him up, let alone sack him. Now that we seem to be picking up a bit, albeit against the poorer teams, I see no reason to change my mind. I hope he is able to keep Marius, and strengthen the squad with a decent forward to play alongside him, and equally important sign a decent defender (to replace McGuire ?). I would also like to see him persuade Zibi to stay, otherwise he'll need a goalkeeper as well.
  7. Who do you think Sir Alec wants to take on loan then?
  8. Hope you get blisters the size of footballs on the Highland march, you old begger! Only joking. Seriously, 'break a leg' as they say.
  9. For once I agree with most of what IHE said in this length post. All I would add is that we could learn a lot from the English club I follow (Exeter City). They even have the same shirt sponsor, Flybe, as us. They too are geographically isolated, and with a fairly similar catchment area population wise. They too had their boardroom problems a few years ago with power struggles etc, so much so that they fell out of the 'proper' leagues, and were within a whisker of going to the wall. They even had Yuri Geller involved ffs. Since then they have revamped their boardroom and recruited a young ambitious manager backed up with a wise old head (Steve Perryman) as Director of Football. Steve was at Spurs for almost 20 years, and has also managed at the highest levels internationally, so has developed a huge 'contacts' base which is proving invaluable. The blend of youth and experience is paying off on the playing side with Exeter reaching the Conference 'play offs' this year. They had over 8000 at their first leg match the other night. Commercially I know they are getting it right too, although I don't know the full detail, with involvement with local businesses, schools etc. So when they get back in English Div 2 (this year, I hope), they have the infrastructure in place to survive and hopefully climb through a division or two. I really fear for ICT. We definitely still have the Highland League mentality, and although I hope I'm wrong, if we don't get a board with the vision and ambition refered to by others on this thread, we could easily find ourselves as relegation candidates next season. If we do go down, I fear it will take us years to get back up again unless things change.
  10. Is it the ghost hunting, or being a Rangers supporter, that prevents you from writing without any semblance of punctuation?
  11. First of all, thanks from me for your continuing generous sponsorship of this enjoyable competition. Re changes for the future, I think prizes for positions 1 to 3 is a good idea to keep interest going if there is a runaway winner like this year. And, could you make it retrospective, please, - see who came third this year!. Only kidding. Personally, I think the 'going bust' feature is integral to the game, and I wouldn't change it. I did wonder if allocating 20 points per week, and allowing people to make up to 3 selections (min 5 points per selection), might be fun. Then a player could say put 10 points on their 'banker' selection and have two 5 point 'outsider' selections as well. Or, of course, they could decide to place all 20 points on their 'banker'. Allowing multiple bets would give people a far better chance of over the weeks of getting a winner and therefore staying in longer. But clearly these changes would add complication for the scorer, and I can well understand if there was reluctance there. Maybe the old adage of 'if a thing's not broken don't fix it' applies here, but for me, I'll go along with whatever is decided.
  12. Yes, it wasn't pretty. But at least their bottle held in the penalty shoot out. Especially after Ferguson's attempt was well saved. Great save too by Alexander.
  13. I must have put the mockers on him by talking about him! He has just lost all 8 frames this morning. Even I can't see him overturning that deficit, so I'll keep my money in my pocket.
  14. I had a little dabble on Hendry on Betfair before the tournament started at 45/1. Can you believe these odds? I also successfully bet on him at 6/1 to win his first round match when he was 9-7 down. No doubt I'll have another bet or two as the O'Sullivan match progresses. So far Hendry is looking after me well!
  15. A shame, if true, imo. That means expense on a replacement which would have been better spent elsewhere.
