  1. Just got back from a few days in Glasgow late last night. Alas was not able to get from there to Sneck for yesterday's game. I did not even know the score due to the P**s poor Wi- Fi on Virgin trains, so imagine how pleased I was getting home at 11pm to see that we'd beaten another good side with yet another clean sheet. Brilliant. Well done to all concerned. I can feel the confidence growing by the minute. Onwards and upwards.
  2. Sat 28 Oct R Christie (Aberdeen) M Storey (Partiock) S Winnall (Derby) R McAllister (Peterhead) D Proctor (East Kilbride) G Morrison (Brora R) G Wood (Formantine)
  3. Tom Aldred scored Bury's goal tonight (24 Oct), in a 2-1 defeat at Oldham.
  4. Yes, credit to JR for the improvement over the past month. He seems to have found a format that is working. Let's hope we can now continue to improve. On an optimistic note, I seem to remember that in our last promotion season, under Terry, we were pretty inconsistent up to Xmas, and only after that went on a good winning run, eventually leaving Dundee well in our wake.. Can history repeat itself? I sincerely hope so.
  5. Well done BB, I left that one for you
  6. I noticed the following scorers today (21 Oct) ...... Miles Storey for Partick Rory McAllister for Peterhead Tarmo Kink for Levadia Tallin Dani Lopez for Arenas de Getxo Dale Gillespie for Rothes Gary Wood for Formantine Dennis Wyness (2) for Huntly
  7. Well done lads. Hopefully that's the corner turned now, and we can look forward to a steady climb up the league.

  9. Henri Anier scored the only goal for his club, FC Lahti, in a 2-1 loss in a Finnish league match this evening (20 Oct)
  10. Gary Wood scored one for Formantine tonight (18 Oct), in a 4-3 win at Rothes.
  11. You know, I'm old enough to remember this, but alas, I wasn't at that match. Can't remember why I missed it. Looking at the team sheets brings back good memories of the real glory days of Caley, seeing a few of their great players involved in this match. Bobby Bolt as trainer, Willie Bruce, Donnie ("Ginger") MacKenzie and Willie Jamieson were all favourites of mine. I notice Andrew ("Joopie") Mitchel had transferred to Thistle by then. I thought he'd gone a little later than that. Other Inverness stalwarts in the team include Roy Lytham and Roddie McLean. Also, Tom McNiven, as linesman, was a well known face in Inverness sport for many years. I remember him most as a cricket umpire in the N Of Scotland league.
  12. Although I admit his best is now behind him, I rate Garry Warren as just our best ever acquisition, a real star for us over the years. I hope he sees out his career with us with dignity, whether it be at centre half or wherever. At least we know he will give his all.
  13. Sat 14 Oct FIVE goals for Rory McAllister, and one for Jason Brown in Peterhead's 9-0 goal fest in the Scottish Cup. Also in Scottish Cup Ali Sutherland scored for Elgin. Only goal I spotted in England was by Lee Cox for Coalville Town
  14. I think most of us would have taken that result before the game. Sounds like a good performance. Looking forward to reading the comments of those at the match. OK, we probably should have won it, but probably our best league performance of the season judging by the stats. Onwards and upwards!
  15. Anyone but Allardyce for me. But, out of the current candidates, I'd probably try Moyes. I think McLeish, like Robertson for ICT, has been out of the front line too long.
  16. H/T 1-1 F/T 1-2 ICT Tremarco Falkirk Loy Crowd 4102
  17. Chin up Kingsmills. I've been watching Scotland for longer than you, and I can relate to those times of disappointment and false hope you so accurately portray. But maybe this time will be different. We have to believe that, don't we?
  18. And another for Adam Evans last night (07 Oct), for Shelbourne in Ireland.
  19. I seem to remember reading that there is some help given to clubs in this competition who have to travel outside their normal zone. Or did I just dream that?
  20. Yes, I know they merged with Oswestry some years ago, just over the border from their Welsh origins. Still think it could be a good trip. Certainly for me it would be less than one third the distance than Sneck.
  21. Love to see us get an away tie in N Ireland, or even Wales, next round. They could be 'away' days with a difference.
  22. 5 goals this afternoon (7 Oct)...................... Two more for Phil Roberts for Braintree, One for Curtis Allen for Glentoran One for Martin Laing for Inverurie One for Adam MacLeod for Strathspey
  23. Yes, nail biting stuff, and it all comes down to a real 'must win' game on Sunday. I know there is a mathematical chance of a draw being enough to secure second place in the group, but I think we can reasonably think that the odds against Slovakia dropping points against Malta are likely to be 50 to 1 against, or more. Even second place with 20 points ,(reducing to 14 in the process to decide which of the 9 second places misses out), may not be enough to see us into the November play offs but we would be very unlucky to miss out if this case, and the odds would now be in our favour. All in all, a great position to be in which many of us would not have thought possible a few months ago. I just hope that we don't end up regretting England's last minute equaliser against us a few weeks ago.
  24. Adam Evans scored twice last night (4 Oct), for Shelbourne, in a 4-2 win (aet) against Dundalk, to help his side win the Leinster Senior Cup.
  25. One that 'Caleyboy' will like..... The Lion's Den - 'Home of Pride of the Highlands'
