  1. It’s been coming and the consensus appears to be that we were better to get some money now than none in the summer. As IBM has said, hopefully we got a decent payment At least we’re have a replacement in, time will tell how good Toshney will be for us.
  2. Fair enough. But I’m really concerned that the early timing indicated it was not playable then, so the patch in front of the main stand must be a real concern.
  3. Biblical rain last night? It was 0 degrees when I got home last night and still cold when I left at 0600 this morning with frosty roads rather than wet ones. I’m in Croy, but can’t imagine the town was much different.
  4. The strip in front of the main stand at the home end has been a problem in the last two home games, particularly the Arbroath one when the ball stuck when it landed there. Someone told me they had started to cut the grass and it damaged the pitch, but don’t know if that is the case or not. I was surprised to hear of the call off at lunchtime due to the pitch being waterlogged and it does not bode well. Hopefully it is only the one part that is an issue and it can be sorted but if it is the whole pitch we have visions of two years’ ago and all the call offs. At the time of writing, only two games off across all leagues, including the Highland and Lowland leagues: ours and Fort William’s! As Clapham Park is unplayable whenever it rains, the Fort William call off is no surprise, but is our pitch really worse than all the other home grounds tomorrow. If so, that is not good at all.
  5. Heard an interview with Robbo on MFR. The report confirmed the approaches for Rooney and Donaldson and Robbo said that three other unnamed players are also the subject of interest. He was quite pragmatic, saying something along the lines of it is his job to identify players to bring to the club and it was a compliment to him and the club that there was so much interest. No word of possible replacements as we will be short of defenders if both Rooney and Donaldson do go this month. Mckay can cover one of them but not both and I don’t fancy McHattie or McCart as the right sided centre half as neither has a left foot! Unfortunate but probably inevitable in our financial position and if we can get decent money in we can hopefully afford to bring in decent replacements, but presumably we can only look at out of contract players or those their current clubs are releasing.
  6. That’s so offensive. Who are you to judge fans like me who are passionate about our team? You like to be challenging, which is fine, but don’t overstep the mark with what is tantamount to personal insults. Get a life!
  7. I’m allegedly a happy clapper and am certainly not a fan of either of the Glasgow ugly sisters! Like most on here, my only team is Caley Thistle, although having been brought up there, I admit to looking nervously for Fort William’s result each week.
  8. Thanks for the feedback IHE. I thought McHattie strolled through the cup games at centre half, albeit against lower level opposition, so interesting to read your comments about him today. I’m a fan of McCart, but he may find it hard to get his place back based on today’s feedback. Interesting to hear how Toddy did too. Who was the third injury? BBC reported Storey and Trafford as subbed due to injuries.
  9. After hearing why Cove sacked Aird (offensive gestures in the Rangers end at the Old Firm match) the day before his contract expired we don’t need him here.
  10. Was out this afternoon but keeping an eye on the live text on the BBC app. Sounds like an excellent first half with most of our attempts being on target. It was then important to close the match out and, judging by Sportsound, we were well worth the win. Great reaction after last week. I hope the injuries to Storey and Trafford are not serious. Keen to hear from those there about how we did and what the defensive formation was. Was McHattie on the left of the central defensive pairing? We seem to have somehow cemented a play off place with a 10 point buffer on the teams outside the play offs.

  12. Assuming Walsh and Welsh are still injured and Curry is back at Middlesbrough, the options for changing the team are: Mckay McHattie Harper Vincent MacGregor Machado Todorov Is Daniel Mackay back from his loan to Elgin for Saturday? I cannot see a lot of changes, possibly Vincent and Todorov for Trafford or Carson and White? As someone has said above, it would be interesting to see Storey playing off the main striker, but that leaves us light for wide players unless we push Rooney forward. Will be interesting to see the starting 11. I don’t care who they are as long as they do better than Saturday and we bring the points up the road
  13. And that corner of the pitch is in a mess. Not as bad on Saturday as against Dunfermline. Someone told me they had started cutting the grass and that caused the problem, but don’t know if that is the reason or not.
  14. Thank you. it is always interesting to see where former players are now, how they are doing, and how their scoring firm compare to when they were here. Some surprises amongst the list.
  15. Caley Thistle getting promotion????
  16. If true, that 20% will be very helpful putting the club on an even footing. It sounds too good to be true though.

I was told they started cutting the grass before the Dunfermline game and that is what caused the problem. No idea if that is right but it is a strip that is the problem. It was a bit better today (I like the team) but still causing the ball to stick more than it should.
  18. I agree but disagree with your selection. Trafford was one of the few outfield players today who got close to pass marks whilst MacGregor seemed out of his depth. We are missing Welsh and Walsh as Welsh protects the defence and Walsh has a creative spark. Storey is getting better but not sure that playing as striker is his best position. Maybe the “number 10” role would work given his pace?
  19. Well, what a day of contrasts. I’ve had a great evening watching Tide Lines in the Ironworks after a very nice meal in Blackfriars. Pre match it was a couple of pints and great company in Wetherspoons. Sadly the time in between went totally pear shaped! What I had anticipated as an entertaining match with some decent play turned into a Sunday league kick about with no quality from us. We were deservedly beaten by the hungrier team and lucky to escape with a 1-0 loss. We certainly had a Christmas hangover and I doubt I’ve seen so many misplaced passes in one game. The first half was poor. We came out firing in the second for all of 45 seconds then got caught on the counter attack and that was that. We never looked like getting back in it. Ridgers was deservedly man of the match. Of the others, only Rooney and Trafford in my opinion acquitted themselves well. The subs had no impact and, with apologies for singling him out, MacGregor seemed powder puff any time the ball went near him. A bad day at the office hopefully rather than anything more troubling, but we have Dundee next so need to get a grip fast!
  20. Going for a few drinks before the game. Hopefully the lads give us more festive cheer and three points to end the year. Looking at their record, whilst Arbroath are on a bad run, no one has given them a doing during it so hopefully we are not complacent: after what happened down there, revenge would do nicely! Presumably Tremarco for McHattie will be the only change unless there is anything we are not aware of. Enjoy the afternoon all!!

  22. This is a tough one as we have been blessed with some quality players this decade. I don’t disagree with any of the above being shortlisted, particularly Warren, whilst Raven will always have a place in our hearts. How cruel their departures were. Two I think are also worthy of mention are Graeme Shinnie and Greg Tansey. Both had great games for us, and played a part in our successful years. In terms of who the best player in the decade who played for us for part of it, a slightly different question, surely Ryan Christie would take some beating.
  23. Thanks for doing this all season Gringo. Merry Christmas to you and all competitors on here!
