Tragic, but very pleasing that all fans observed an impeccable minutes silence today.
  2. I'm quite shocked by some of the comments I've just read. I sit in the main stand, and was oblivious to the chants against Polly's sister: such behaviour is disgraceful. I know he can "blow hot and cold" but I do believe he cares, and such chants will drive him out of the club. Yes, he missed the penalty, and it was a poor one, but he's not the first and won't be the last. I thought he was trying hard in the second half, looking for the ball and trying to pick out passes. Yes, some did not come off, but as others have said before, he has vision that some of our team don't have. He is a confidence player, as someone has said earlier in this thread, and some fans have shattered that today. His tweet is out of frustration, and I don't blame him for making it. To the game, we had a clean sheet, with some squeaky moments, and were by far the better team. We should have been three up by half time, with Austin missing two very good chances. Ridgers did what was asked of him. Rooney tried to push forward, to mixed effect, but could turn into an asset. Tremarco was my pick, as we were most potent down the left. Mckay and Donaldson kept Shankland out, with big Coll nearly sneaking one towards the end. I actually thought Trafford and Chalmers did ok, but need to move the ball quicker and be more positive with forward passes. Walsh had a mixed day, but has potential. I've said enough about Polly above. Austin was out of sorts, whilst Oakley was committed but didn't really get any chances. I think Doran will start on Tuesday in the cup, and I'd give young Mackay a start too. Compared to last season, this is a better start, but work in progress. With better finishing, today it would and should have been a comfortable three points, but at least we didn't concede. I am as disappointed as any, but there has been a lot of over reaction in some posts.
  3. Just watched the highlights. Hard to see why the Falkirk "goal" was disallowed but we seemed to create more. When we move it quickly we look good. Mackay' quick free kick late on us a good example, leading to the good chance for Polworth. Good to start with a win!
  4. Looking at today's results and teams, is Calum Ferguson away from Elgin? Craig Beattie came off the bench for them: is he the first Scottish international player to play for Elgin? Seemingly he is a defender nowadays.

It will be interesting to see if any more youngsters make the 18 some weeks. With today's 18, only Cammy Mackay, Beith and Elbouzedi were missing from what is really our main squad. Mackay will presumably replace Hoban on the bench once fit, so only two injuries or suspensions will create spaces for the youngsters. Brown and Harper have had a taste, but hopefully we have other gems waiting to make a breakthrough.
  6. I look forward to the match report, particularly views on the disallowed Falkirk goal which sounded controversial. The BBC said we just about deserved to win the match, and Austin should have nabbed a second. Great to start with a win, and a "top of the table" game beckons next Saturday! I hope we get a decent home crowd. I assume Doran sat it out due to it being a plastic pitch (?), but sounds like Walsh is turning into a great signing. Roll on next Saturday!!
  7. OK, for what it's worth, for me: Ridgers Rooney McCart Donaldson Tremarco Doran Polworth Trafford Walsh Austin Oakley

A bad day at the office, but let's move on and focus on next Saturday. Hearts started quickly, but once we settled, the first 25 minutes were quite even, and it could have been different had Chalmers effort gone in. Three quick fire, well taken goals kicked the stuffing out of us, and then their 'keeper had a couple of decent saves before half time. The two Naismith goals were disappointing, and we could not take the chances we had, the best falling to Austin, but Hearts could have had more, with the woodwork saving us twice and Ridgers having some saves. It could easily have finished 9-3! I assume Tremarco had a knock when he was substituted. Looking forward, I would give McCart game time alongside Donaldson. Midfield is a worry, as we have no one doing the "dirty work" well: how we missed Vigurs today. Beith or Welsh may be the answer, but not seen either yet. Austin needs to be our first pick up front. A bad day, but I don't feel we were humiliated, just beaten by a better team who clicked on the day. Hopefully Robbo picks them up for Saturday.
  9. Thanks, looked at those seasons on the match section of the club website. We won 13 and drew3 before losing to Celtic, so we need to beat Raith Rovers and Hearts to match that. I have put my prediction on Gringo for Tuesday but beating Hearts will be a challenge. Then the important stuff starts at Falkirk.
  10. How does our current run compare to previous best runs? Since losing to Dunfermline on 13 March, we gave had 14 competitive games, winning 11 and drawing 3. Is this our best run in terms of games or months, or am I overlooking any?

That also shows he is thinking of his future after football. Credit to him.
  12. A red card in a friendly? Help!!
  13. Update on website about pre season friendlies: away to Brora on Wednesday evening with a 1945 kick off.
  14. 8-0 full time. Four from Walsh. After the double from Brown, two more youngsters, Wilson and Kennedy, also scored.
  15. Haven't seen full line up, but a mainly young team is 4 up at Buckie at half time. Two each from Tom Walsh and Jack Brown.
  16. I was working off the list on the club website, posted on 28 June. It just shows two more to play, the midweek games this week: 1945 at Buckie on Tuesday and 1930 at home to Aberdeen on Wednesday.
  17. We play at Cowdenbeath on the17th in the Betfred Cup. Brora is not on the list of friendlies on the club website.
  18. A strong team this for the Clach game this afternoon, and Tim Chow is a starter......
  19. I was planning to go tonight with my six year old grandson who lives in Nairn, but sadly work intervened. Taking him to the Cove game next Saturday instead.
  20. Full time 1-1.
  21. Currently 1-1 at Nairn, with them levelling an early Oakley goal. Largely a young team, with only Tremarco, McCart, Trafford, Elbouzedi, Whyte and Oakley starting of our likely first 18.

Thanks for the above advice, got mine today too.
  23. A 2-2 draw at Rothes and 4-2 win at Forres tonight. Jordan Whyte scored a hat trick at Forres.
  24. With Ryan Esson joining the coaching squad also (although I thought he was a player / coach), is he still going to be listed as a player, or will Cammy MacKay get a chance as back up keeper?
  25. I am happy with that. We have a back room team who live locally and want to be involved with the club.
