I’ve a good feeling about this cup: fourth home draw in a row. We should be able to beat them and get to our second final in three seasons.
-
I’ve thought that too. The off pitch issues clearly not as impacted the players. However, the bug running through the club maybe was a bigger issue than we realised: only time will tell. There was determination and passion today, so hopefully the guys are focussed and back on track. I’ve seen a comment on social media about our ball boys. Credit(?) to them for twice winding Dundee up, once at a goal kick and then at a throw. Unusual for us to be trying to waste time. That said, the way the guys closed out the last five minutes was spot on. We kept the ball at the Dundee end and played the clock down brilliantly.

A great team performance. Five first team players out, two more presumably not fully fit and we lost McKay and Tremarco to injuries during the game. Dundee had a lot of possession and moved it nicely, but other than one Tremarco cleared off the line and one sitter they missed, we closed it out extremely well. We should have had a second when Doran was put through one on one with the keeper. Doran finished well after Carson, I think, did well to play him in. I agree with the comment above, Carson and Trafford were immense. McHattie was out of position but did ok. Doran and Storey both had their best games for a few weeks. White did well first half. Ridgers had surprisingly little to do, whilst the defence suck to its task. McCart was more like himself. Great to see Rooney come off the bench. Hopefully he will be ready to start next week. A great result, praise to all 14 who took part. Not our best performance this season, but much better than recently and we got the job done. Some poor decisions from the officials, angering both sets of fans at times, but that did not impact the outcome. Hopefully confidence is back and we move up again!

BBC Scotland’s local bulletin yesterday at 0730 said we are AT Dundee. Hopefully no one made alternative arrangements as a result. After recent stutters, let’s hope we are back to our best and get a much needed win.

Well that is an illusion shattered! I thought you were our no 1 fan, there through thick and thin (like me), hence your criticism of our “fans”. Bait?? Lol!!

That sums it up nicely. As an aside, good that the club is playing the song that was discussed on a post on here recently. Just need the team to get motivated by it too.

That was an uninspiring afternoon. We played a strong team, although it is not clear which of them may have had the bug during the week. We were on top for most of the first half but had little to show for it. Clyde were the more dangerous team in the second and seemed first to all the loose balls. Goodwillie was not playing, which is probably just as well for us. Ridgers had one really good save but I’m struggling to recall us really troubling their goalie. We had plenty effort but little quality. I felt White had a pretty good game, with the ball tending to stick this week, but there was little support. Curry had a few attempts, but others seemed to hold back rather than shooting, particularly Storey. His pace troubled Clyde but we need a better end product. We need to get a grip or we will continue to slip down the league. Teams seem to have worked us out. They are stopping us building from the back, forcing us to kick long, but we are not getting the second balls so everything breaks down. Positives were the well taken penalties, keeping a clean sheet and Ridgers save. I’m glad I was not picking the Man if the Match. I’d probably have gone with Ridgers. Any word on Welsh and Rooney? Despite being there early, I was not offered a Caramel Wafer on my way in, but the guy next to me was offered one at the turnstile. One would have eased the 90 minutes slightly!!

They didn’t but we need to win tomorrow before we can think of the semis!

Can 10 man Elgin turn it round in the last few minutes? 3-2 down but pulled one back (Shane Sutherland) since going down to 10.

I don’t know the individuals, only that one recently acquired Fairways and has other local interests, but it is good to see local businessmen getting involved and showing confidence. Hopefully we get stability off the park, as we need it given performances have suffered during the recent weeks of off pitch turmoil. What we now need is a strong positive statement from the Board updating us on the financial position and future plans which can then steady the ship on and off the pitch.

He is a left back, but has played as the left centre back in the cup. I think he could do a turn in the Welsh role to protect the defence but never seen him play in midfield. When Tremarco has stood in at right back, it has hampered his attacking play as he always cuts in to use his left foot. Carson has stood in at right back so may be an option, but I suspect Mckay will get the nod.
-
I’d give the youngsters a chance if fit, and see if Storey does better playing as a striker than he has since he rejoined us: Mackay Mckay Donaldson McHattie Harper Trafford Vincent Walsh MacGregor Machado Storey

Oh dear. Got the impression we were second best listening to Open All Mikes, but did not realise just how poor we were. Since the financial troubles and the EGM, our form has suffered, so it has clearly got through to the players and unsettled them. As I said in another thread, we need our leaders to step up, take responsibility and get things back on track. That is the Board, Manager and his team, and the senior players. The next three weeks could make or break our season. Yes, it is a small cup, but we must beat Clyde to stop the rot. We then need to get our league campaign back on track at home to Dundee and away to Alloa. As Doofer’s Dad has said, if we get the next few games right, we will be in a much better place. Time for the guys to get a grip and show us what they can do!

Thankfully I’m not your man!!!! We see things differently, which is fine. Even on days like today, Caley Thistle are my team, and today hurts.
-
You’ve missed my point completely, which was insinuating that our fans, and many posters on here by implication, only see ICT as their wee second team after one of the Old Firm.
-
Having seen the team, can I change my first scorer to Walsh, please.
-
I see we have had a sickness bug this week and some unnamed players are doubtful. This will be a tough match but one we should get a positive result in. They ran ha very close when we won 2-1 at the start of the season. Hope all the travelling fans have a great time.

That's so insulting to the vast majority of our fans. We have no right to be in the top league. We have to get there on merit, but realistically with our budget and fan base it will always be hard. We punched above our weight for many years, and we need good leadership from the Board, Management Team and senior players to get back to those heights. Not impossible but with our financial position, it is getting harder. A play off place is our best hope this season realistically. A cup run would be a bonus too.

I think they are both missing Welsh who is so good at giving protection and tidying things up. They are more exposed as a result so mistakes are more likely.
-
That’s harsh about Trafford. When I’ve seen him play this season, he has shown passion and he was our best player by a mile yesterday.

Very disappointing afternoon: totally outclassed. I would only give pass marks to Trafford and Ridgers, plus Walsh after he came on. Carson did ok, but the rest were poor. Shankland could have been sent off and the ref had some poor decisions but I don’t think that changed things. We were just not good enough. We certainly miss Welsh. At one point I thought Tremarco was losing the plot after his booking but he got a grip. Similarly Rooney would have been a red card risk had he not got injured. McKay should have replaced him rather than Vincent Really hard to work out what we need to change. We go between doing well and doing poorly, so need consistency. A result at Arbroath will help greatly then we can have a breather and focus on the cup for a week. United, despite their recent defeats, are a cut above the other teams, and have shown that against us. We need to be more consistent and aim for, at worst, second.
