  1. Anyone else spot the advert for John Hughes Electrical or Engineering (or something like that) on the highlights. I spotted it at the disallowed goal. 13 points from 8 games with only one defeat is a good run. Here's hoping for a result against Hearts on Saturday!
  2. I'm with PerfICT on this one.
  3. Not easy this week! Tremarco Fon Williams Doran
  4. Mckay conceded the penalty according to BBC.
  5. I try not to be critical, but that was a poor show, and I feel lucky that we salvaged a point. First half players seemed unsure as to what they were meant to be doing, and Polworth wide left did not work. I felt last week we should start Doran, Mulraney and Fisher, but Mulraney did not get much chance to make an impact, possibly as Killie's wide man was keeping Mckay busy. Fon Williams did OK. Of the back four, Mckay was poorer than I'd seen before, Tremarco was solid as always, Warren and Meekings coped ok although Meekings got an unnecessary booking (as did Polworth). Tansey and Vigurs were too close often, but both tried, albeit neither at their most effective. Draper not as big an influence as normal, and not happy at being subbed. I was in section D and there was a loud bang after he entered the dug out, but at least it didn't smash! For a large awkward guy, Doumbouya didn't win much in the air, but tried hard and got the goal we needed. I'd still like to see Fisher get a start. Doran lively, but missed a couple of chances. At least he had a go, as a couple of other players didn't shoot when shots were on. King and Boden tried when they came on. All in all, I will take the point and hope for a better performance against Motherwell and Hearts. To end on a positive, we are in the top six!
  6. Assuming Meekings fit: Fon Williams Mckay Warren Meekings Tremarco Mulraney Tansey Polworth Draper Doran Fisher Failing that, Raven at right back with Mckay alongside Warren, keeping Doumbouya, Boden, Cole and King as impact options and MacKay, Horner (or Raven) and Vigurs also on bench. Just my view, happy to be shot down!!
  7. Interesting. What about: Fon Williams McKay Warren Meekings Tremarco Tansey Draper Mulraney Fisher Boden Doran Although I would to retain Polly playing alongside Tans with Drapes pushing on, keeping Boden, King, Doumbouya and Cole as potential impact players.
  8. That's a fair assessment!
  9. I'd like to see Fisher start on Saturday.
  10. And despite the defeat, up a place this weekend and above County!
  11. After pressing and chasing everything at the start, we gave Rangers too much space and time and I felt we were lucky to just be one down at the break. Second half much better and we could have won a point with better finishing. That said, the best team on the night won, and whilst the referee was poor, that did not change the outcome. Fon Williams did well, but perhaps more varied distribution would have helped, rather than aiming for Doumbouya. Raven did ok in my eyes, Tremarco is becoming consistently good, Warren and Mckay had their moments but stuck to the task despite being booked. Polworth out of position is not working, and disappointed in Vigurs. Tansey played some decent balls but not influential enough on the whole. King has his moments, but may be better as an impact player coming off the bench or playing on the right. Draper good again, but I was right in line with his challenge late on and he was lucky not to be sent off. Rangers neutralised Doumbouya and I'd have but Fisher on earlier. Both had horror headers though! Doran and Mulraney lively and deserve a start. Next week I'd start Doran, Mulraney and Fisher, in place of King, Vigurs and Doumbouya. A lot to be positive about though, and hopefully three points against Killie!
  12. Fon Williams Draper Tremarco
  13. The key will be making their full backs concentrate on defending as they can be potent going forward. We need to pick the team for the match. If Doran match fit, I would start him, but otherwise I agree with bdu98196 on the starting 11.
  14. Based on the radio, I'll take that point! Phew! 5 unbeaten though, and we can argue we are now effectively joint sixth!
  15. Tough one, but: Mckay Doumbouya Mulraney for me!
  16. Comfortable win, but sat back a bit after second goal. I felt at half time we needed a third, and it was a good counter attacking goal. Fon Williams had a couple of saves, but on the whole the defence was ok. First sighting of Mckay and felt he did well. Just a pity Dundee scored to defy a clean sheet. Mulraney's pace evident, and King lively at times too. After second, Draper dropped deeper alongside Tansey with Polly playing further up supporting Doumbouya. The ref seemed to have an issue with Doumbouya's physicality but he took his goal well, as did Polly. Want to see the penalty on tv, as it might have been soft, or I possibly missed part of it. All three subs were lively, and Doran cannot be far from a starting place. I liked the look of Cole in his brief cameo appearance. All in all, a satisfying afternoon and up to 8th. Hopefully a win next week takes us further away from the foot of the table, but after the last two games I have been to (St Johnstone and today), I am a lot more positive about how things are shaping up.
  17. I missed the game today as on holiday at present, but sounds like the guys dug deep, rode their luck, were even a bit unlucky with the ref, and won a point few of us expected. With last week's result, things are hopefully looking a lot more promising than a couple of weeks ago, and next week's game may be key to how the season shapes up. After recent criticism, glad Fon Williams played a key role. Of our strikers, I'd be inclined to start with Fisher given his work rate, and then switch to Doumbaye or Boden after an hour or so of him making the defenders work. Onwards and (hopefully) upwards!
  18. All I can say is that there has always been a decent attendance on the occasions I have been.
  19. I've been a few times, and always very well treated. I was at County for the Derby in the spring and it was not a patch on what you get at Inverness. Credit to Iain Auld and all involved, who make the attendees very welcome. If you get a chance, go along and it will be a great day.
  20. A welcome point, and hopefully things are looking up. Next week's game is irrelevant in the scheme of things, it is Dundee on the 24th that matters. Quite tight still in the league, and the last two games have shown that we are more than capable of getting a mid table finish. Good to hear McKay did well and Meekings was alongside Warren still. Draper is our key man, but can anyone who was at the game advise how Tansey and Poleorth did today? If Vigurs keeps scoring I'm all for him continuing to start! No sign of Cole though, short of match fitness?
  21. With young Cammy recalled to cover.
  22. She stood in as I had a spare ticket. Before the game she said it was a one off, as she doesn't like football. Afterwards, she admitted to enjoying the second half and will go again, but only in the summer. The next home game I can do is the Dundee one so I will try to persuade her! She is worried, though, as she started a conversation about Doumbouya tonight!
  23. Two assists by Marley Watkins and Barnsley third in the Championship.
  24. My wife joined me at today's game, only her second one (the other being the cup final) so she has a 100% record. Well deserved win, would have been tough had it ended in a draw. First half I felt we were not supporting Fisher enough with often just Draper and King getting close to him. Second half much better. Really impressed with Fisher's work rate and the chasing down. If he gets regular starts and we adjust to having a target man, he could do really well. All 14 get pass marks, although not sure about Polly on the right, perhaps taking time to adjust. Doumbouya looks like a handful, and pity Mulraney didn't grab a third very late on. When the MOM topic is open, I will be saying Fisher Draper King Taped Sportscene, and interesting to hear Richie praise Vigurs too. Thought he had an OK game, but Tansey still not back to his best in open play, but a couple of decent set ups at set pieces. Talk of a couple more signings before Wednesday night: hopefully as squad light on depth. All in all, an enjoyable afternoon and great result. Hopefully we can get something from Aberdeen in a fortnight.
  25. Do we know who our Trialists are?
