  1. I was there as a 15 year old, amazed at the oasis of light that Kingsmills was that night, due to It being the only place lit up that night as we were going through electricity blackouts and the three day working week. We walked from Hilton, and all you could see was the glow from Kingsmills. What a great spectacle It was.
  2. A great three points at last in the battle of the Jags. Ridgers has certainly earned his place as a fans favourite now. Still unbeaten, but with three points in the bag this time, and we're up to fourth.
  3. Calder's actions and court verdict left the club with no other option but to cancel his contract. He was given a chance to come here and get his career back on track, and it seemed to be happening for him this season, and now, in one violent incident, he has not only blown his chance, but did something that will affect the rest of his life. He must now accept the sentence the court gives him, and in time, try and resurrect his career. Other players from other clubs have committed serious offences, Lawson, Goodwillie, and gone on to play for Scottish clubs, so he may get another chance somewhere else, depending on the outcome of the sentence. It is a very sad and very serious situation for all concerned.
  4. Could'nt agree more, these three are certainly fans favourites now, and Bell gave us energy and different option going forward.
  5. Best game I have seen this season, and some stand out performances, how Ridgers managed to save that shot in the first half was outstanding, also Calder was immense, that lad has some engine. Great to have a mobile striker like Oakley back, he gave old Draper a torrid time, and Polworth had his best game in ages. We were right in line with McKay when he was offside, but the blind stand side linesman couldn't see it. Did anyone else see him sprint to the tunnel at half time, it was hilarious? We could have and should have taken the three points but let's move on and keep the fine form going into the next game.
  6. So sorry to hear this terrible news. Stay strong and I wish you all the best with your treatment. I had a cancer scare early on in the year, but got the all clear.
  7. We must be the slowest team in the league. Every team we play can counter at us with pace, and be at our box in a few passes, but we take forever to get any attack going, passing it back and forth along the back line until our opponents are back in their shape, and then we try to play through them, which we can't do as we don't have the guile or talent to beat a man and find the right pass. Too many of our players had a bad day and I lost count of the misplaced passes. We need to start taking more shots from outside the box, you never know what might happen, look at Dunfermline's second goal, what a scorcher, I can't remember the last time we scored one like that.
  8. Although the unbeaten run is a good thing in one way; it shows we have a good keeper and defence, and they should get the plaudits, but if they were letting in 2 or 3 goals a game it would be a different story and I'm sure Robbo would look at changing the lineup or tactics, so why, when the front line is misfiring match after match does he seem reluctant to drop White? It has echoes of last season when Baird seemed to be his blue eyed boy, even though he couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo. I think we have become too predictable now, other teams know how we will play and near enough our starting 11 every game. I think it's time to throw in a few surprises, different tactics and personnel. If I'm not mistaken, when Dunfermline beat us in the Irn Bru cup did they not have several youth players in their lineup, so what's stopping us from giving ours a go.
  9. The game was totally destroyed by the wind, but county seemed to play it better in the second half against it. The segregation of the fans was laughable and unnecessary. We weren't allowed to use the same catering or toilets! I have been watching football since the 70's in the Highlands and have never come across this before, and the amount of police and stewards per head of supporter was way over the top. Not a great spectacle and I thought we might just get the draw at the end.
  10. Why did Robertson play the same eleven and same tactics as last week? when by his own admission it was our worst performance? , And why can't we show the same urgency from the start of the game that we showed in the last ten minutes, we might have created more chances? There was an old movie called 'White men can't jump', and that certainly applies to our Mr White, I have never seen a player who mistimes so many jumps. Calder should be banging on Robbo's door on monday asking why he can't get a start in that team, he mskes a difference every time he comes on.
  11. Well that was hard going, and the weather didn't help. I think we could have played till midnight and not scored. We really do have problems in the striking department. White doesn't seem able to jump to win a ball and his close control is non existent. We improved a little when Mackay and Austin came on but too little too late. The longer the game went on, the narrower we became. We need to stretch a rigid back four and that starts with wingers. Calder must deserve a chance to start and give us the width on the left, and the day Chalmers plays a forward pass can't come too soon. It's a point, but we need to get three at home.
  12. It was the first time I have seen a lot of these players, and I was impressed by Brown and Macgregor, and of the lads I had seen before, Mackay, Calder and Macart looked good. I can see some of them making a bid for the first team during the season.
  13. I thought that he had real potential when we saw him at the start of last season. He wasn't given much game time by Robertson.
  14. Definitely going to this game. I'm not taking Forres lightly, but I hope to see a win and some goals.
  15. The team did look rudderless today, on and off the park. We used to be a team full of leaders, but we are now sorely lacking in someone to take the team by the scruff of the neck of drag them through to a victory. Robertson has been critical of his players, and rightly so, but he must also shoulder some of the blame. Surely the buck stops with the manager, it's his coaching and tactics. Is it not the case as, win as a team, lose as a team?
  16. The strange thing is, just before we were awarded our second penalty, I said to my son, who will take it now Welsh is off. Most strikers will wrestle the ball of others to get the ball and get their total up, but not ours. I have no idea why Welsh was subbed, he was playing well in the middle.
  17. Wow, where do you start with that display? I thought we started well, but we do that in a lot of matches, and when we don't capitalise and score in that time, it always comes back to bite us in the end. I thought we should have started with two wide men, there was an unbalance in the team. Tremarco and Walsh were bombing down the left and only Rooney on the right, and he was exposed on numerous occasions. I have said it before on here, is Rooney any better than Seedorf? I don't think so, and giving away that penalty was just criminal. If Robertson is going to play Polworth (how he stayed on the whole game baffles me, does he have some hold over Robertson?) Welsh (who was our best in the centre of the park)and Chalmers ( who was anonymous most of the game), in the middle of the park, he needs to sacrifice a forward for a wide player. And as for the forwards, I just don't think that Austin and Oakley look like a pairing that will get us a lot of goals in a season. Why are they not fighting to get the ball and take the penalty, after Robertson had taken off the player who scored the first one. Most strikers love getting their name on the score sheet, but ours seem to hide when we are looking for someone to step forward. And as for White, did he touch the ball? I have come to the conclusion now that Ribertson has no idea how to play against 10 men, at times i thought that Alloa had the numerical advantage, we were our predicable and ponderous style, slow build up and waiting till the opposition is in place and try to play through them. It doesn't work Robertson!!!. We need pace, two wide men, control the midfield and close teams down. We have now played the two teams that were promoted last season, they both went down to 10 men and on both occasions we couldn't beat them. I think the best we can look forward to now is a mid table finish, and we can't even look forward to winning the Irn Bru cup this season because of Robertsons stupidity.
  18. Well it wasn't Col Donaldson, I saw him walking his dog, but it might have been Ryan Christie, as he never even made the squad for the cup game v partick
  19. I'm trying to work out If you post these because you like to be controversial, or like collecting red dots, or that you actually believe them.
  20. Absolutely spot on. This defeat was of Robertsons making, wrong team and wrong tactics. He should have been man enough to admit that he got It wrong and not treated the only cup we had a realistic chance of winning this season, In such a blaźe way.
  21. Totally agree with you. It Is down to the coaching, and It doesnt matter who knocks on the managers door, he Is the boss, the manager picks the team, the players dont pick the team. Is he saying he bowed to player pressure and thats why there were so many changes.
  22. I agree with you, when we get control of the ball we seem to wait till the other team are all behind the ball and back In their shape and then try to play through them, It just doesnt work, while our opponents always seem to counter quickly with pace with our defence stretched.
  23. Has John Robertson and ICT given up on post match interviews? I ďont think I have seen any this season. Does anyone know?
  24. Surely the club wanted to at least get through to the second round of the cup they won last season? So why did Robertson change so many players? Especially considering that we don't have a game thìs Saturday. We went all out to win this trophy last season by playing our best eleven, so why did we not give it our alĺ this time? Again, it was obvious that the team needed width, which only happened when Walsh was introduced as a sub in the second half, that gave us Calder on the left and Walsh on the right snd they started to get behind their back four and get crosses in. We had so many chances just begging for the right touch, but no, it wasn't to happen, and then Polworth gives the ball away on the half way line, and the rest is history. I know it's early in the season, but I'm having a bad feeling about this season already.
  25. For me, it's the pace of the team that is the most worrying thing. Even last season, most teams would break on us with pace and could be threatening our defence in a couple of passes, while we seemed to wait till our opposition regrouped into their shape and then tried to play through them, which we couldn't do on numerous occasions. I agree with some posts on here that said we didn't stretch the Ayr back four enough, especially after they were down to 10 men. We had Walsh set up on the left and it looked like Polworth was on the right, where it is obvious that he doesn't feel comfortable to play, as he drifts into the middle, leaving only Rooney to give us that width on the right. He struggled to get behind their defence and his crosses were not too good. We really need to find someone to hug that right touchline and maybe sacrifice a striker to have an extra man in midfield. In my opinion, maybe we could try Walsh on the right and give Calder or Ebouzedi the left flank and have Doran or Polworth playing in the hole, to support the main striker. We were just too narrow, ponderous and predictable yesterday, let's hope we can sort it out before Dunfermline come calling on Tuesday.
