  1. I'll only be going if the bus actually drops us off at Hampden. When we went to the semi final against Celtic, it parked miles away, and as I have mobility issues, it was a slow painful walk to get there and back. Why we weren't allowed to park at Hampden is still a mystery to me, as the spaces for the coaches were empty.
  2. Doran (5) Chalmers (3) Trafford (1)
  3. A great team performance, every player giving their all for each other. I said to my son when they sent mcmullin on, "Hear comes the diver, he's been sent on to get a penalty", and that's what happened. He did the same a couple of seasons ago when he jumped over Drapers leg to win a penalty and utd won 1-0, at least this time justice was done. ICT were by far the better team, and should have been in front with Austins goal, but it was so sweet to win it the way we did. Doran, Chalmers and Trafford were the pick for me, but the whole team needs to be congratulated. Brilliant!
  4. A very hard fought 3 points. I worry when we score so early, as we tend to retreat further and further back as the game goes on. We need to look after the ball a lot better instead of just kicking it aimlessly up the park. But a wins a win, and a lot of the other results went our way today.
  5. If this is true, it's another bad piece of business by ICT. Hearts get our player, Mulraney, who now plays in the premier league for them, and we get diddly squat, a player who never set foot on the pitch for us and a wasted wage. Surely we should have had some guarantees of his fitness before we signed him, due to his fitness record?
  6. Yes, the talk in the main stand tonight was the Beith left at Christmas, so why did the club not announce it? Mcauley has his number now.
  7. It's a good job I can type, because I have lost my voice shouting at that amazing cup tie. A game that had everything and some good performances as well. To come back twice and nearly win it at the end showed great character from the team, and hopefully we can take this into the next game. And to silence the county rabble at the end was priceless.
  8. Our form at the moment is so unpredictable. We seem to really struggle to beat teams below us in the league, but have had a few good results against teams in the top four. The way things are going, I can't see us holding on to a top four spot. Some of the teams below us are starting to put runs together, Partick being one of them, and they have just signed a proven goalscorer, Scott Mcdonald, till the end of the season. Some teams in the league have gambled and thrown a lot of money in their efforts to get promoted, and it seems to be paying off at the moment. The problem is we have played it safe, money wise, and have lived within our means, which may be counter productive in the long run, if we don't make the playoffs and have shot at promotion. Another year in the championship will probably mean another reduced wage budget, players leaving, and the possibility of a poorer quality of player being recruited. If we are finding it hard to recruit players with the money we are offering in wages now, I dread to think what will happen next season, especially with the ever decreasing attendances and possible lower season ticket sales. We have to start giving more of our young players game time with the first team, and have them ready for next season, it seems the only way forward, unless we find our own Roy Macgregor.
  9. Most successful teams have a way of playing, be it a settled team, formation or tactics. For the last few seasons, it's hard to know which way we are going to play from game to game, is it going to be long ball, play narrow through the middle or stretch the opposition back line by playing wide. You could say if we don't know, the opposition won't know, and it could be to our benefit, but it's not working. In my opinion, we play better and have more success with widemen. We create loads more chances when we can get behind their defence and put balls into the box, and if we stretch their back four as wide as possible by hugging the touchline, we will create space for our attacking midfielders to exploit. Players then need to know the system and where to slot in if a regular is out injured or suspended. We need to work on a settled system in training and sign players to play that system and let the other teams worry about our attacking ability. The players at the moment seem to be lost as to where and what they are supposed to be doing. I have no idea what formation we were supposed to be playing in the second half against Partick and neither did the players it seemed. I know it has a lot to do with the quality that we have at our disposal now, but I am a firm believer that if you set your team up well, you can give anyone a run for their money.
  10. That's as bad a performance as I can remember. Just when you think we might have turned the corner, we manage to produce a truly woeful performance. I can't remember their keeper making a save. I have said it before, Robbo doesn't have a plan B, and it's obvious now that he doesn't have a plan A either. It was the wrong team selection and wrong tactics. The game was crying out for width and he flooded the midfield with central midfielders, we were so narrow. We were second to every ball and made a poor Partick team look good. And for Robbo to blame the home support is totally unacceptable, give the fans something to shout about and they will react, and to swear at the fan for expressing his opinion is unprofessional. It's very hard to pick a man of the match, the only time we played any decent football was on the lead up to our goal, why couldn't we do that more often? Robbo's subs were baffling today, only he could leave Brad on while others were hooked. Surely we can't play any worse this season, but I wouldn't like bet on it.
  11. Dundee United recruit 11 players in the transfer window to show their intent. We lose one of our strikers, have two of our best players out for weeks Injured, and end up with the same selection problems as before, I think that shows our intent. It's not a criticism, it's just reality, we are where we are financially. United have just aquired an new American owner and have shown that they mean business in the remainder of the season, they are pushing the boat out for promotion, it may well back fire on them if they don't make it. We on the other hand, have to make a few pounds from a player who would have probably left for nothing in the summer, as most of our players seem to do. As we seem to now be having problems recruiting from the south of Scotland can we not look to the Highland League and identify the best players and keep tabs on them, and try and sign them on pre contract agreements when they are coming to the end of their contracts? Who is our scout? Do we have one or can we afford one?
  12. Did we get a fee for him? They are a premier league club, they can afford it. I hope there are no more late departures, as it will leave us as short of players, and in the same state as we were before the window.
  13. What a great result for Inverness. If only we could play Ayr every week, we would be up near the top, saying that, we are only six points behind Ayr now, and that's do able.
  14. I am old enough to have watched football in the Highlands from the 60's and have seen many a good player throughout the years playing in the Highland League. A lot of players were plucked from the league and went on to play in the top leagues in Scotland and England. Donald Park, Roddy MacDonald, Des Bremner and Les Fridge, to name but a few, were playing for Highland clubs and were scouted by big clubs, so why can we not unearth some quality player playing there now? There must be good players in the HL who would love a chance of furthering their careers and play at a higher level. You can't tell me that they would be any worse than some of the players that were brought here from the JH period onwards.
  15. We just have to remember what happened to a number of premier clubs in England in the last round of the F.A cup, if you don't respect your opponent. We need to approach this cup tie with the same work rate and passion as if we were playing one of the top sides, and then, we will hopefully get the right result. Remember, Celtic only beat them 2-0 in the Scottish cup in 2016, because they were well organised, and we know what can happen when you don't approach the game in the right way, as I think we were guilty of when we got knocked out of the Irn Bru cup by Dunfermline, who I believe had seven youth players in their ranks.
  16. I have been saying this for most of the games I have seen in the last couple of seasons, how come our opponents can cut through us like a knife through butter and be in our box in one or two passes and score or get a shot away, while we wait till they are back in their shape, pass it across the pitch and back, and then try to play through them, with no pace or desire? That's great if you have players that can take on a man and beat him, but we don't. The tactics are wrong, the team selection is wrong, but Robbo can't or won't change it. On the odd occasion when we have broke with pace, we have scored or at least had a chance, but these are few and far between. Maybe Robbo needs to buy a job lot of County masks, and make our opponents wear them, so the players think they are playing County every week and up their game!!!
  17. Another hard watch. We were trying to think when the last time we had a good 90 minutes at home, we gave up! It's the same old same old, we score, we sit back and let the opposition come onto us. Robbo has no plan B. He seems to not want to use subs early, even when it's painfully obvious that things need to change. We have too manysplayers who know they will be playing week after week, because of our small squad. It's high time to play the young players, they at least would have more energy and play for the shirt. We are now slipping down the league as the teams beneath us start picking up points. Watching football in Inverness has never been this bad, and we have Ayr next week, I hope Shankland isn't back.
  18. If we bring in any new players in the January transfer window, they need to be better than the ones we already have, they need to improve the team and push us on. I remember Hughes saying he would only sign players that were better than what we had, and then brought in duffer after duffer. Robbo needs to use the money, if there is any, wisely. If the players aren't available, he should show his trust in our youth. I am old enough to remember Donald Park, Tichy Black and Davie Milroy, to name but a few, playing for their school teams in the morning and their respective Highland League clubs in the afternoon, it certainly didn't do their careers any harm.
  19. Hope everything goes well for you, and a speedy recovery. All the best.
  20. In the first half we tried to play our way forward, in the second half United were on top because they had a passing game. More often than not, when we managed to get control of the ball outside our penalty box, we just hoofed it upfield to nobody and United started another attack with some slick passing. That just puts more and more pressure on our defence, and if it wasn't for Ridgers we would have been beaten yesterday. When we get our passing game together we score goals, but it is all to seldom that it happens now, we just seem to want to defend our one goal lead. We need players who are brave on the ball, beat a man and get a shot away. Too many times in recent matches, there have been opportunities for players to take a shot, but for some reason they pass It on to the next man and then the next man and the chance has gone. Why don't we just have a shoot on sight policy when we get near their goal, you never know where ricochets will go?
  21. We never turned up after the break. It was only a matter of time before United scored, they were the far better team in the second half and I think we were lucky to get away with a draw in the end. We can't seem to hold onto a lead, and start going further and further back to defend it. I really can't see us getting to the play offs with the standard of football we are playing.
  22. I will be there as usual in the main stand, along with my son. I never miss a home game. My son always says he can tell what kind of game we have witnessed by the sound of my voice on the way home. If it's been a frustrating game, I have usually lost my voice by shouting, so I hope I still have my voice at the end of this game.
  23. What a shambles of a team. We seem to have no desire, no drive. If we played like we did for the first goal we would blow teams away. Quick slick passing and into a dangerous position in the blink of a eye, and goal, then we slip back into our slow ponderous style, passing it back and forth across the back line. If we needed a win, why do we play with two defensive midfielders and one striker? So much for Robbo saying he would throw the youngsters in, they couldn't play any worse than this lot. We made the bottom club look good.
  24. The match for the dependants of Joopie Mitchel was held on the 11th of May 1968. Celtic won 6-1 with Huidean Lazenby getting the goal for the Thistle/Caley select, and Wallace 2, Gemmil 2 and Murdoch 2 for Celtic. It was Indeed at Telford Street with an amazing 10,000 crowd. Jock Stein took up the whole European cup winning squad for the game.
