  1. Amazing..........someone starts a thread about Chick Youngs involvement in the world cup and eventually it twists to an Anglo-Scots arguement.
  2. SPL

were we not denied promotion to the SPL at one point last time? No we were not. Partick Thistle lodged an objection but Scottish football seen sense. Falkirk are the only team to have been denied promotion. Laurence, for a really good matchday experience get yourself to the Innes bar for some lubrication and to meet some really nice fans.
  3. Why only one half??

  5. SPL

http://www.scotprem.com/content/default.as...ome_SPL%20teams - that's good enough for me. ...even though we're also still on http://www.scottishfootballleague.com/scot...?curpageid=1055 Lazy sods - they couldn't even be bothered reorganizing them alphabetically - they just replaced Falkirk with us.... They must have seen your post Tich
  6. Chick Young, whether you like or loathe him, is employed by the BBC as a football reporter. If they choose to send him to report on the WC then so be it. He's getting paid so may as well make use of him. Think BBC Scotland have sent him to support ABE.
  7. I wouldn't say worried about going down so much as proving our quality at SPL level. We will go into the new campaign with a number of experienced players but also with a few untried at that level. I dont think the club are being too overcautious. I think they are waiting to see how we react from the off. If all looks good first half of season then there may be the chance to offer longer contracts to the younger players. My understanding with any contract is that there are certain payments, signing on fee's, agents fee's, that are based on a percentage of the worth of the contract so the longer the contract the more needs to be found up front and clubs are having difficulty in that respect. We, as has been said, are not the only club offering short term security. We are also in a bad sitiuation this season in that we need another half dozen first team players plus a competitive U-19 squad. I'm sure that, although the SPL has scrapped the reserve league, it is still a requirement of membership to compete at U-19 level. So thats a lot of players to be found.
  8. Will this be the first time we've had royalty at TCS since Wyness left? No, we have Queen's Park the week before and Queen of the South all of last season. :D And we have many fans from the house of King Ussie
  9. At the moment we dont have a squad of 22
  10. I would not be surprised if a certain Mr Leighton were to join the staff at ICT.
  11. Ross has never been greedy about money. Indeed he's always just signed on the line. Now, however, he has to think about what the future holds. If someone offers him a lot more than he can make at ICT then I think he'll take it. Ryan is probably in the same boat. Though he will likely play on for a few years more than Ross he also needs to think of building for life after football. Both players want to stay but we dont pay enough. Simple as.
  12. Although plausible I personally dont see why Sky would need first day fixtures in advance of them being released to the public. Fixtures come out on 17th June, new season starts in august. Thats six weeks notice as is. More than enough for Sky.
  13. This is a very sad tragedy and, unfortunately, the British press have chosen to write their reports with a cruel slant to the story. The companions and Sherpa's would have tried all they could to bring Peter down. That high up with wind chill factors, probably, in the minus 40's it is extremely hard work just getting ones self moving let alone helping someone else. Helicopters cant go that high. Rescue teams dont make the attempt. Those who have died in these mountains are still there. Other than the extremes of temperature theres also the lack of oxygen to contend with. These guys did not leave Peter to die. They knew that, had they continued to try a rescue, they would all likely have succumbed. I know what its like when conditions get bad in Scottish mountains. I've witnessed the effects of hypothermia. Our highest mountains are a bit over 4000 feet. Everest over 29000. I cant imagine what conditions would be like that high up. The mountains were Peters life. The mountains took Peters life. You made the choice. You knew the risk. RIP Sincerest condolences to his family.
  14. And Mantis never tires of telling that tale.
  15. Bet you wouldn't say that to Mrs Y
  16. Going to miss the first two games. Heading to Stornoway that week
  17. That's not our problem though He doesn't like the journey up here? Awww diddums we have to travel south every 2nd week so I am sure he can do the journey 2 times max a season in the league Try reading the article ! At know point does he say he doesn't like the journey up here Correct DC........knowhere does he mention the journey to Sneck. What he says is exactly right. He owns a club. He wants bums on seats. We'll maybe take a couple of hundred to Tannadice. They'll take a couple of thousand to Sneck.
  18. A half dozen of us once tried to cadge a lift on the team bus but Brewster said no. Mind that Mannie?
  19. Players like them are required so they can impart their vast knowledge to the younger guys. They are a necessary part of any team.
  20. Not necessarily. Even players in contract with a team have gone for trials elsewhere. Always best to take someone on trial anyway. That way you can assess, not only how they play, but how they bond with everyone else.
  21. Not the cat! What has a cat got to do with the club, Inverness or the surrounding area? At least Nessie was relevant. An eagle, a dolphin, Nessie, the Highlander...anything appropriate. But the cat is just a character with no attachment to Inverness Caledonian Thistle. The cat was a design from schoolkids. ICaT
  22. From what I gather Scott is the U-19 coach and Doc is the first team coach.
  23. Totally agree - is there any stadium in Scotland locate in such a nice setting? Not unless you can count Claggan Parks in Fort William
  24. How else do you limber up the swallowing mechanism
