What about trying Bayne at the back ?!!

I seem to remember sutton playing at the back for Celtic and doing rather well! ( and lets face it, he could not be much worse than whats on show at the moment)

It could also be a kick in the backside for the current defense, and give them a bit of a jolt and put them back onto their game.

One of the best players ever produced in the UK, the great John Charles, could play centre half or centre forward with equal aplomb.  So maybe it is not such an outrageous idea.

But Bayne is'nt John Charles and the modern game is totally different to the days when Charles played.

Just to spin this on it head - it wasn't so long ago that Wilkie played upfront against us and was bl**dy awkward to handle!

Bvggar it - stick Tokely up front!  :015:

not a huge fan of this idea funnily enough

With all due respect to Bayne he isn't one of the greatest players the UK has ever produced.

I played against John Charles in the latter stages of his career, he could head a ball further than I could kick it.  Some player.

Sutton started out as a centre half, thats probably why he looked comfortable there.

aplomb

I love that word

I'd rather see Guy Kerr given a chance but I have heard that Brewster played in defence in his earlier years.

Derek Johnstone could play both positions but he's over 50 now.

I'm sure Bayne would be good in the air but he couldn't tackle a fish supper unfortunately. He'd probably give away more pens than Hastings and Caff combined.
