  1. Willie collum ref for this. Last time i saw him at pittodrie on boxing day he was god awful so expect more of the same.
  2. Winter break = opportunity for celtic to play overseas money spinning games, just a coincidence that rangers look fairly certain to return to the spfl in time for this. But thinking that is cynical its got to be about player and fan travel safety doesnt it?
  3. Missing creative players like Doran & Roberts through injury hasnt helped added to we lost Watkins in the summer and now Christie is gone too. Roberts may come good but he needs to get fit, I do think we have Williams who is a great attacking threat showm last year when he played on the left and got forward, playing balls in the box and going past players yet somehow Yogi see his best postion at LB, when we have a capable player in Tremarco who can play there. Unfortunately injuries to Mutumbo and Sho-silva never helped as these guys never got going? Unfortunately unless we add width through Willaims (L) and Doran/Roberts (R) we will continue to struggle to create. Through the middle we have too many defensive minded players so nobody to unlock the door there either.
  4. To pick a best performer is difficult as nobody has been consistent to date, due to injuries or just poor form. Warren since return from injury has been solid at the back and Fon Williams has performed well although is still think his distribution is questionaable - long punts loosing possession regularly needs improvement. I think Danny Williams has done ok in the roles he is given, but do feel he would give more further up the field and playing him at LB is stiffiling what he can contribute. Tansey has found form and in some games if you watch his passing its pin point across field whit accuracy that would be lauded if he was at a bigger club, but he started poorly this season, as did Draper. Polworth is the most improved and has been getting better but still needs to work on his control, distribution and consistency. Storey has worked tirelessly up front and over the last few weeks has become a more isolated figure than ever as we seem to be getting more and more negative in play. On balance its between OFW, Storey & Tansey so far, but whats easier is the list of those who need to really up their game.
  5. I think I agree, we seem to be able to sit in and keep possession deep letting team play infront of us, but when we have to step up against teams who sit in we lack a cutting edge or creativity to open them up. When the 'better' teams come to us they try to go for the 3 points where as the 'poorer' teams tend to be more defensive and dont want to loose - with our lack of width, no overlapping runs and slow approach play its easier for them to stiffle us and hit us on the break, where thats what we tend to do against attacking teams.
  6. Great news and a positive but he wasnt out of contract this season and isnt a deal id have wanted focus on right now. Lets hope he acts as a catalyst for others to sign now.
  7. Agree with above alston looks good from the limited footage ive seen of him, worrying that st J a similar size team seem to be favourites to land him and we dont seem to be tying down the guys we have or going for good lower division afforable talent as replacements.
  8. Out for 2 months. We have had rotten luck with signings this season. Hope he makes a full quick recovery
  9. Hobbled off injured like many of our other signings this season, lets hope its not serious and the guy gets game time to show what he can do.
  10. Tbf nicky clark we approached for him last year after billy left and he knocked it back doubt that would change. Still could be worth an approach.
  11. I dont think that will be our choice sadly, I can see OFW getting an offer from England especially if he goes to the Euro's, Dean being injured much of the season may be a blessing if we want to resign him (which I would) as he's not been in the 'shop window' so we may not have much competition for his signature.
  12. Certainly wouldn't say stokes is a big name, potentially a player with good ability and proven scoring record in Scotland but that's it. Certainly shows a lack of ambition either fighting relegation if he goes to DUtd which I doubt or playing in a lower league even if he does get to play against rangers, doubt any of that will put him on the radar for Euro selection. Perhaps after the niculae lesson of signing players with a reputation or on much higher salaries it just unsettles the rest of the team so maybe there are better options out there to fit with our club dynamic.
  13. Its starting to get worrying that we still have no new deals agreed for those out of contract this summer. 10 of them are pactically mainstays of the team. Very concerning especially after last year when we lost some great talents.
  14. All of it, showed that last year and its not like the rest of Scottish football has got a lot better since then to stop us :-)
  15. Like Michu.......a £25m rated player only 3 years ago, maybe he's the Spaniard Yogi should have siged lol
  16. Please no, how many chances does he need before someone else gets game time? Id go with the Wyness selection if not as below, defensive but the best 11 we can put out just now Fon Williams Raven Warren Tremarco Williams Wedderburn Draper Tansey Polworth Vigurs Storey
  17. Full draw Motherwell v Stirling Albion/Inverness Caley Thistle East Kilbride/Lothian Thistle v Celtic Dundee United v Partick Thistle Dunfermline/Ross County v Linlithgow Rose/Forfar Athletic Rangers v Kilmarnock Annan Athletic v Greenock Morton Dumbarton v Dundee/Falkirk Hearts v Hibernian After avoiding the OF and Edinburgh clubs, I think we probably got the hardest tie we could. Away from home again, lets hope that we continue to get better over the next few weeks - last year we had a replay in 4th round V's St Mirren back at home, then away to SPL opposition in Partick Thistle......maybe there is a pattern emerging?
  18. It just didnt work for Lopez, the game here was too fast and physical, he started in 7 games mainly at the start of the season but never seemed to get into the matches or showed improvement. His spitting incident sadly will be why he is remembered, perhaps frustration at how his season was going, perhaps niave to the change in culture but at his age should have known better. I hope the club made sure that he will be able to get back to Spain with his family and start afresh by doing the right thing when terminating his deal. For all the harsh critisim of Lopez, I feel he still offered and gave more in games than Mutumbo who is still at the club, but with Silva and Lopez now gone this could be seen as an indication that Hughes/board made mistakes or was too hasty trying to get bodies in after not being proactive enough during the season,
  19. We are still in the cup and as written above it could have been much worse, look at Hamilton. Last season we needed a replay in the 4th round,so lets hope this is history repeating. As with many of these ties against smaller teams, they make it hard and today SA had their chance, generally history does not repeat itself twice and I would fully expect that we finish the job comfortably in the replay. I hope the club offer cheap tickets to get bums on seats and everyone comes out to support and get behind the team.
  20. Likewise, only saw a breif glimpse but offered nothing, Mutumbo is another who although he has an exciting name does nothing in his fleeting appearances - he runs about a lot but nowhere near the ball and never towards it. As for Hibs after Stokes that has been suggested since before xmas when him and Allen were touted as being the Hibs signing coup this window
  21. Proven SPL goal scorer with something to prove. If Yogi could control him and get him to play like he did at Falkirk or Hibs then great, but right now he is out of shape, short of game time and needs an attitude check. Depending on who pays his wages, Celtic - he's worth the risk - ICT and I'd rather see that pay for new deals.
  22. Fon Williams Raven Warren Devine Williams . Draper Tansey Polly Vincent Vigurs . Storey Stick with a winning team, but I'd like to see Mutumbo or Silva get one last chance to show whether they can prove themselves. We are on an ever improving run of form so unless someone is tired, injured or suspended we shouldnt weaken the team too much - we are defending cup holders and should look to do everything we can to retain it. If we score a few early goals I'd like to see Hughes make 3 early subs tho.
  23. Agreed but hes a mercenary and will always go where the money is (which I have no problem with), but his history doesnt suggest that he carries sentiment towards a club so if we went after him even with the success of last year I think he'd still go elsewhere - perhaps another SPFL club if there were a few more coins in the pot. But i agree if we could shift a few duds out he'd be a great addition along side Storey for the 2nd part of the season.
  24. Based on us being better first half and dons dominated the 2nd a draw was probably fair result. 2nd half we sat too deep, punted clearances anywhere and never tried to play the ball while they were much more offensive and creative. I struggle to see what mutumbo brings, it's it's a predictable hughes change but yet again I've yet to see him touch the ball - runs like like a headless chicken.
  25. Today collum managed to unite both sets of fans at a game in disbelief at his utter incompetence. Some utterly awful decisions at a basic level made wrong. How he is a top flight ref is unbelievable.
