Parking on Stadium Road

Just a heads up as I know we have a few offenders on here.....

Northern Constabulary have advised that parking on either side of Stadium Road is an offence and they may issue fixed penalty tickets to motorists parking on the double yellow lines.

Obviously matchdays are one of the worst times for this, so you're advised to make use of the Stadium Car Park. Personally, I wouldn't even risk parking up on the verge further round on the other side of the bridge and such places either.

John, I really wouldn't worry it takes a bit more than that to offend me. :rasta: I just don't want you (or anyone else) to get the impression I'm saying something that I'm not. Thus I've tried to clarify as it seemed you were misunderstanding my view.

Mind you the offer of a pint.... :drinking05:

What a joke, people parking up on the verge (which I often do) cause no obstruction to traffic or pedestrians. What's the problem? Don't get me started on the chaos trying to leave the car park.

The main problem is that is against the law.

Very clever. Let me rephrase for you if it helps, what actual problem is the parking on the verge causing?

We have been lucky so far in that nobody has had a house fire as there is no way a fire engine could get through when the streets full, in fact I think an ambulance may also struggle.

Supporters buses moving away from the stadium with cars driving in the opposite direction seem to manage perfectly fine......

There will be a few people not coming back after picking up their fines today. I guess it's how the NC get their money back off the club ;-)

Don't know for certain, but don't think any Fixed Penalties were issued today. Got the impression there was a bit of an amnesty going on, with "offenders" getting nothing more than a warning.

Seemed to be a lot of tickets stuck on windows. But as you say maybe they just included warning notices.

to be honest who will use the car park for £3. every home game.

I certainly noticed a couple of cars with fixed penalty notices stuck on windows, maybe 2 or 3 on cars along the far side pavement near the bridge

Wait a minute sub standard football i can moan about, but sub standaard car parking with a 50% increase in price I can't tolerate. We have to travel over 50 miles home and decide to wait half an hour or more before trying to get out of the car park. We went to a game at Motherwell a couple of years ago and were in Edinburgh after the game - at a time we wouldn't even have been out of the ICT car dump. Does anyone else have suspicions that it is more than coincidental that the price goes up and suddenly it becomes illegal to park on the kerb?

On another point - what is happening with the match programmes?

See the thread on the monthly magazine with regards to the programme.

Not unless the police take a cut of the carpark takings.
