I see that we have sadly lost ex Caley manager Alex Main. He was 86. He was my all time fave Manager of any team i have ever followed. A proper legend in my eyes. RIP Alex

An absolute giant of north football and a throughly decent man. Im proud to have known Alex and his football knowledge was second to none. He ensured the club and players were a totally professional outfit on and off the pitch. He also presided over the booziest lunch I ever had at the launch of 'Caley all the way' in which I have a mention. 

Sleep well Alex and condolences to Ella and family 

 

A stalwart not just of Caley but of Highland football in general as well as being a respected journalist and a fine and tremendously witty and entertaining man.

Saw the news last night when Bill McAllister posted it to his facebook feed . Sad news indeed. 

 

 

 

Was there any relationship to/with someone named Gandy Main about whom I heard many references but was never able to find out who he was or what connection, if any, he had to Caley?
