Nice thought, but at this time of year the groundsmen (not just ours) are hard pushed to keep the pitch good for one set of games...never mind two sets and the possibility of two in one day.

According to the papers our CEO has told them to do one because he's worried we won't beat Alloa at first time of asking in the Scottish Cup.

Clach fans getting upset because they let us use their place for U20s games.

Reading quite the opposite, Buster. Looks like he's willing to help out in every way possible, but, agreed, is concerned about drawing at Alloa.

And that corner of the pitch is in a mess. Not as bad on Saturday as against Dunfermline. Someone told me they had started cutting the grass and that caused the problem, but don’t know if that is the reason or not. 

Sooner we rip it up and put in a plastic pitch, the better.

Whilst there are obvious practical and commercial advantages of artificial surfaces, professional football should only be played on grass unless and until the characteristics of the two surfaces are far more similar than they are now.

As far as the serious problems that our friends and neighbours from Merkinch are now faced with, we should do what we can to help them and if that means a bit more work for the ground staff and playing on a poorer surface for a few weeks then, in my view, that is a price we should pay. Despite our recent difficulties, we are a large commercial undertaking with a seven figure turnover whereas they are a struggling community asset linked to an area of town with more than enough issues already. I, for one, am very pleased to see our CEO articulating the club's willingness to help if we can.

I agree with Kingsmills - I have always preferred pure grass to any synthetic alternative. And is there any reason why the Ferry Winos cant use Highland Rugby Club ?
