It would appear to be the case that, although Morrison was Chairman, Gardiner ran the club in his absence. What he (Gardiner) did during this time only he will know but given the mess that Savage has uncovered it will certainly give rise to theories that he wasn't, how shall I put this diplomatically, focused on doing what was best for the club.

The sad thing is a lot of fans suspected all wasn't well and the club could have been run better but felt totally helpless

Yes, Mr Savage hinted at some reports suggesting that he had, were inaccurate.

“I read that Sir Alex, or Alex Ferguson as I can call him, put money into the club, but people were putting two and two together and getting nowhere near it.

Dear Sir Alex - he had 30 league games last season.  How long does "a chance" last?  I know that you had about 3 or 4 years at Man U before you were successful, but we must be well into "Fergie time" - that's Dunc Fergie time  - by now.

To be realistic, he’ll have to have the team in a good position and playing well, or he’ll be given the curtains for Xmas!

Said in a previous post a while ago that SG and DF wouldn't be here in 2025. Still confident/hopeful of that being 100% accurate.

If DF is still here in a couple of years time, I presume that's because he is successful. I'll be delighted that's the case. I've nothing against him. I don't care who he played for. I wish him success.

That said, I can't see it. His tactical mindset needs to utterly change and his appalling track record with ICT and Forest Green be merely a blip. As I said, I cannot see it happening but let's vainly hope.

I want DF to succeed as it means ICT will succeed and that's the ultimate aim here. Looking at the highlights from last week there was some good play on display, but I cant speak to any bad play as it obviously didn't make the highlight reel.

I would love ICT to get back to the stage we were at when 'Off the Ball' described the ICT job as being safer than any in Scotland with you being more likely to see Nessie than our manager sacked. We have binned a few since then unfortunately so its no longer true.

Indeed, and it’s worth noting that we got compensation for Pele, Robbo, Brewster and Butcher when they got lured by bigger clubs. Generally the longer the contract and the longer the notice period, the more the compensation we can get when that happens, so it’s easy to see why subsequent managers’ contracts had terms which unfortunately for us ended up being millstones around our neck when it turned sour.
