Who would have thought that we would start the 2025/26 season at Kelty Hearts!!!

  • Technically speaking, it's not a pre-season, but in amongst the pre-season it's Aaron Dorans testimonial. Please do your best to give Aaron what he deserves.

Really wanted to see thomson and macloed in midfield are they connecting well.

Thompson was playing wide right in the main with Chalmers and MacLeod the central pairing. He switched to the left in the second half as Longstaff didn’t appear after the break.

Some posters getting carried away with performances and results in pre season friendlies.

These are just about building up fitness and sharpness,  nothing else. That's why I don't bother going to watch. They have little bearing on the season ahead. That said, I would imagine a much better picture will be given in the friendly against Partick with possibly our normal first team line up being chosen.  Again though call about fitness and sharpness.

I enjoy games at HL stadiums when you are pitch side and hear everything that’s said, which is why I go.

I’ve just tried to give feedback to those not there, particularly about the trialists.

You are right that results don’t matter at this stage, but it’s not long until we do have competitive games and we need to be ready for them.

And I’m sure we all want a win next Saturday for Aaron, and I hope he gets a really good crowd.

Was at Clach today, I thought the trialist at full back is worth considering remembering its a highland league team we were playing. Was not overly impressed with the trialist up front, hold up play was ok but no goal threat and faded in second half.  £10 for a game of football no complaints

It's preseason so results are secondary and it was a decent day for getting out to put faces to new names in the squad. Although £12 for a friendly does feel a little steep.

I don't think the trialists were as bad as some others are saying. Ojo was getting into dangerous positions with the ball but seemed a little reluctant to pull the trigger earlier. He seemed to be constantly looking for a final killer pass so that may be down trying things out and instructions from coaching staff.  I'd be raging if he was doing that it competitive matches.

The other fella didn't do anything I would consider out of place and seemed comfortable throughout.

Billy Mckay will know what they were looking for so I trust he'll judge based on that but I wouldn't be surprised if both were offered contracts.

The goal we conceded was a classic scramble and Munro was unsighted for the final shot and could do nothing about it.  We weren't really troubled aside from that.

PTFC 0-1 ICT. The wee no 11. …

2-0 no 9 is that Ojo?

Does the wee no 11 have curly hair? If so that will be probably be Carlos Heredia.

Ojo wore no 9 at Nairn and Clach so presumably it’s him again.

The club is crediting both goals to no 9.

Going to bed as my match report has just vanished into the ether 🤬

As The Mantis is probably having a well earned lie in…………

53’Goal Thistle! Ben Stanway
Thistle 3 - Inverness CT 2

Three goals in three minutes from Thistle. Crawford finds Stanway to his right and Stanway fires high into the top right hand corner of the net.

51’Goal Thistle! Logan Chalmers
Thistle 2 - Inverness CT 2

And all of a sudden the game is tied. Stanway looks to be fouled but there is no free kick, the ball breaks to Chalmers at the edge of the box and he finds the back of the net with an excellent finish high to the keeper's right.

50’Goal Thistle! Ben Stanway
Thistle 1 - Inverness CT 2

Thistle get an early goal back as Stanway knocks home from close range.

Goal Inverness CT! Trialist
Thistle 0 - Inverness CT 2

Another Thistle error and it's another Inverness goal. The Trialist number 9 is again the player to profit from that error and he takes the ball round Budinauckas before rolling the ball into the net.

08’Goal Inverness CT! Trialist
Thistle 0 - Inverness CT 1

Inverness open the scoring. Thistle lose possession in midfield and Wotherspoon advances before slipping a pass through to Trialist who finds the net with a neat finish.

Team v PT.   starting eleven this season

1 ROSS MUNRO

2 ROSS MILLEN

3 MATTHEW STRACHAN

4 ROBBIE THOMPSON

5 REMI SAVAGE

6 DANNY DEVINE

7 PAUL ALLAN

8 JOE CHALMERS

9 TRIALIST OJO

10 DAVID WOTHERSPOON

11 TRIALIST

edit: Mackinnon for Thompson.

Glad Kel's interview is there as it saves me typing much the same (twice recently I've had longish posts disappear). An excellent performance with a total collapse of about 10 mins when PTFC scored 3 times and could have had another couple. We looked more like the Championship club in the first half but they obviously got a rocket at half time.
I think Munro will be an excellent replacement for Musa. Chalmers and Allan made a good pairing and Remi and Danny were composed as usual. Millen looks OK at RB. Not sure if Ojo is the goalscorer we need based on one viewing. The PTFC fans were all wanting the manager to nick him off us before he got back on the team bus.
A horrible venue, a bit like Cove, where we shouldn't have to play again with any luck as Petershill are in Tier 7 and are unlicensed atm. It was my 58th venue watching ICT otherwise I wouldn't have bothered as I've been a couple of times before.

You can see at about 4:15 Ojo has a half chance but took too long getting it onto his right foot. Also not shown was a great chance on the half hour for 3-0. The classic striker's dilemma, through on the keeper and too much time to think, ended up with a wee chip which the goalie had no problem saving.
Also the wee no 11 appears to be Corey Thomson from Celtic B.

Trust me Mantis, there's nothing like the joy of rushing to complete a two hour match report only to find you refreshed the page and lost everything including teams, substitutions, scorers, images, league tables, scores and two hours of words that you will never see again.

The joys of rushing around like a headless chicken on CTO.

unfortunately - its caused by our out-of-date stats program putting too much stress on the server with what they call 'long queries" because it is using an older version of PHP. Basically it does not kill the query after done and the load on the server increases over time until its unsustainable. I have to close down SQL (you will get a database error) and then disable stats for a while until it settles down (stats pages unavailable) ... and then it all works again for a few weeks until I have to repeat the process.

I did that when I read Mantis' post last night so it should work now ... just have to re-enable the stats later today.

No promises, but if you send me the files I'll see if I can leverage the powers of AI to rewrite the code.  Had a little success doing something similar (but smaller scale) for a local charity recently.

Thanks - will do. At least you are somewhat familiar with these files!

edit: sent you email with the support response from our hosts to the long/slow query.
