v East Fife @ home Sept2025

East Fife Four Forfar Five

Some 'headlines' are harder than others to forget, like SuperCaleygoBallistic.... It was only in his head, but it did eventually happen, sadly, after his death. The Scottish League Cup Group B tie between the sides went to penalties after a 1-1 draw. And the score in the shootout? East Fife 4 Forfar 5. Thanks to Eric Morecambe for that one. However, back to business. One of this seasons promoted sides, East Fife, come North on Saturday for a 3:00pm kick-off at the Caledonian SarensPSG Stadium. They have had a solid start to the season sitting in mid-table, and with Dick Campbell at the helm that's no surprise. It's fair to say he has had a tough paper round, but as a football manager he knows the game inside out, gaining seven promotions at five different clubs managing Brechin and Arbroath from Tier 4 up to Tier 2. Some might say he has had plenty practice, but there's a shrewd tactician in there somewhere and he certainly knows his way around the lower leagues where he has been very successful and always makes you work hard for the points.

Look who is at the helm of HMS SNECK as she sails into calmer waters having survived the tsunami's of the last few seasons. Great to see the wee happy smiles on the faces again. Billy and Kells also doing their best to grin having guided us through stormy waters to safety and security.

Our 6-0 hammering of Dundee B in midweek will have given Scott Kellacher much food for thought as he selects his team for this weekend. Another swashbuckling performance with some stunning goals, none moreso than the Jordan Alonge mega rocket from around 28 yards, ooooft!

I'm not sure I've seen a better strike anywhere in all my puff. What a hit! Power, control and precision. Boom! That aside, we had a MotM performance from Adam MacKinnon and great to see Ross Millen back on the park. Paul Allan getting more minutes in the legs as well. All good here.

League1 Results

  1. Head 4-1 E Fife

  2. E Fife 0-1 Alloa

  3. Accies 1-2 E Fife

  4. E Fife 2-1 Kelty

  5. Stenn 1-1 E Fife

  6. E Fife 2-1 Queens

  7. E Fife 1-1 Monty

Defender Andy Munro and forwards Nathan Austin and Bobby Jones have all scored twice in League1 this season. They have a pretty potent strike force of Nathan Austin, Michael McKenna and Tommy Goss though.

The clubs have only met 11 times with the Caley Jags winning 7, drawing twice and losing twice. The most recent fixture saw Inverness win 1-0 in November 2020. Played at an empty stadium during Covid. Inverness won the game but all credit to East Fife for making this a tough tie. It took a penalty save by Cammy Mackay in stoppage time to keep us ahead after Shane Sutherland had opened the scoring in the second half. We had Mackay to thank for a wonderful save in the first half as well and he was my MotM.

East fife home.pngThe Fifers, formed in 1903, were the first to win the Scottish League Cup three times and the first of only two sides from the second tier of the Scottish league system to win the Scottish Cup. This makes them the most successful club in Fife in terms of major honours won ponder

Only six years after becoming members of the Scottish League, East Fife appeared in the 1927 Scottish Cup Final, which they lost 3–1 to Celtic at Hampden Park. The 1927 cup feat was surpassed just over a decade later when "The Fifers" won the 1937–38 Scottish Cup. The prestigious trophy was secured with a 4–2 win over Kilmarnock in the replayed final. The game was watched by a crowd of almost 92,000 spectators amazed

Here we can see the fans arriving in their wee fishing boats to dock at the Stadium Port.

Club Song: The team's pre-game anthem is "Telstar" by The Tornados, named after the communications satellite launched in 1962.

Picturesque Villages: The East Neuk is a popular tourist area with beautiful fishing villages, including St Monans, Pittenweem, Anstruther, and Crail.

AI Overview

In Scottish League One, teams are allowed up to five substitutes during a regular 90-minute match, with an additional sixth substitute allowed in any period of extra time. Additionally, teams can have two concussion substitutes per match that do not count towards the regular five, and if the opposing team uses a concussion substitute, your team can also make an extra substitute.

To be honest, I'm none the wiser. BBC show seven substitutes. East Fife's own X account only show five having been made.

I don't know what the real answer is.

Concussion substitutions are not counted as subs.

That was the easy bit, however, I tried to follow it on the provided link.

I don't have the spare time to try and understand it.

Were both Zimba and Easton deemed concussion substitutions?

If so, reading the above, each team gets 5, plus the concussion sub, plus 1 as the other team had a concussion sub?

Saturday was a privilege to be at the match and watch a masterclass performance by D Wotherspoon. He may not have many left in his locker in the twilight of his career, but boy his around game and effect on the match was a joy to behold and witness. His range of skill and control of the ball, passing ability and awareness of space when he is ‘up for it’ is impressive. Throw in the ability to craft and score goals like yesterday, he is the almost complete footballer IMHO. I’m hard pressed to think of any past ICT midfield player that can measure up against DW. Certainly above the level of this league.

I was before the match having a ‘tongue in cheek’ ribbing of the EF players and Dick Campbell. It was earned as I have a healthy respect for both, and was a little worried when they scored just before half time when our whole defence slept. I disagree with DC our goals were self inflicted and defensive mistakes. Spoonys two goals was the result of invention with the second being crafted almost entirely by the one player. The third was a bit of luck on our part. The fourth was more of AlfieB’s ability and determination to kickstart his goal campaign.

All round an excellent second half and great piece of entertainment. A large crowd (and a word to the good sized East Fife fans) that attended the match.

We’re going to loose at some point, but for now I’m just going to glow in the in image of being in top of the league table, enjoining going back to the stadium and watching some great football.

Well done everyone from the players management, AS and off the field organisation.

Can't argue with any of the above, Wotherspoon is ( and of course should ) look a class above in this league. I'd also point out that in many games where we aren't really tested, old Joe Chalmers is rolling back the years, quietly linking the play where he has the time to do so comfortably.

I'm concerned that without a sustained run of harder games we could be sleepwalking into complacency at this level.

Its been said we have a 'championship ' level squad, perhaps true for some - so I look forward to the knockout stage of the challenge cup against the higher level teams to find out where we really measure up.

Off piste, but spot the faces. Ines bar, bus to stadium and in ground. I am in agreement to keep stadium in place, but then I don’t have to pay the Leccy bill.

Aye, saw that yesterday, Kenny Adie there too ! Don't know about not getting served in the Innes? Strange.

I have been in there for many BT, Openreach retirement events and even when the bar is jam packed service has always been good, never waited much more than five minutes. And I was in the crown in the north stand.

Ah, the opinionated inaccuracies of the influencer. Journalists they are not. i'm afraid I had to give that video a thumbs down ... it was awful. We need to get Sam from Footy Adventures up to see how things are progressing.

Sam means well in a charming, naive, wide-eyed sort of way and he’s such an enthusiast he’s moved up to Glasgow (and obviously has a soft spot for the Govan shower) but sometimes he’s just as clueless as all the others who’ve just ‘discovered’ Scotland 😅

Brian Easton wearing a black and yellow striped soccer jersey with the East Fife FC logo and text "MPH GROUP" visible on the front. The jersey has an "errea" logo on the right side of the chest. He has light brown hair and a beard.East Fife on 𝕏

Brian Easton was forced to leave the field during yesterday’s match following a head collision. He was attended to by both East Fife and Inverness medical staff, having briefly lost consciousness before receiving stitches for a cut. We’re pleased to report that Brian was able to travel back with the team and is now recovering at home. He is feeling okay, though understandably a little groggy.

A huge thank you goes to the medical staff at Inverness for their swift and professional assistance.
