With you on this one Mannie. Would add little to what we have already and if he isn't good enough for a new contract at Hibs.......? Johnny Hayes wasnt good enough for a new contract at Leicester, Ryan Esson wasnt worth a new contract at Hereford, it dosen't matter where they were previously. When it comes to getting the best out of players with a point to prove we are arguably the best side around for it.6 points

Same old, same old, been going on since i started going to football, will still be going on when i stop going. Polis, politicians, football reps all meet, talk pish, agree how terrible it is,tell us all how bad behaviour will not be tolerated, so all diddy clubs will get policed even more strictly, the actual culprits will continue to sing what they want, pish where they want, stand where they want and not a jot will be done to change things, except average Joe in small groups will be targeted with football bannings to "make examples" and show how this behaviour will not be tolerated.2 points

Looks like I just signed on to Kerrydale Streetthere. Where's the Caley Thistle forum? How can the refs be against all 42 league sides in Scotland? Which team is getting the benefit? They make mistakes, just like the time I got chucked out of Blue for being in the girls toilet, with a mirror, and my trusty sock. These things, from time to time, do happen. The refs also appear to be against Scotland, and Portugal, and Argentina, and Man U, and Chelsea, and 'Arry........... I've spent WAY too much time with some seriously misguided 'We Hate Rangers and Diouf more than we like Selik' fans recently. They know referees full time occupations, yellow card stats, and what denomination there children's school is. That's one stage of Robert Di Nero's final mental state in Taxi Driver. Everyone needs to Harden The **** Up and stop being so sensitive. Whatever the refs says, is the right decision, because that's the decision. Please can we get the geographical discrimination chip of our collective shoulders? It's a bit pathetic. You'll need a Martin Luther King teuchter type figure to get that myth to enter popular opinion. The thing about the better the league, the better the ref is wrong.2 points

One of the joys of football is that the game flows for the most part and is not constantly interupted. I would not want to see anything which led to extended pauses whilst the TV ref came to a decision. We have to accept that the ref will get some things wrong and that in general, these things even up over time. If a referee is favouring one side and the other side wants to take issue with that then there is the TV evidence to allow them to do that. The fact is that a lot of the big decisions regarding off side, fouls and diving can actually be very difficult to come to a conclusion on even when we see them after the game in slow motion from various angles. In general, therefore, I say, just let the refs get on with it. Having said that there are exceptions to that where I think intervention from a video official would be justified and that is where significant and clear errors have been made. I'll give 2 examples. One is where the ball has clearly crossed the line and failure to spot that has a clear influence on the game. In the game against Dundee Utd the ball was well over a foot out of play when a Utd player backheeled it into play and the officials had not spotted it. That could have led to a goal or, had it crossed the line between the posts with a defender clearing it, a legitimate goal would have been denied. If a video referee can see there is a clear error like that, then in the sake of fairness, that information should be given to the man in the middle and the original decision reversed. Obviously some judgement would be needed as to whether any incident was clearly wrong and I am sure some reasonable guidance could be developed. The 2nd example relates to another thread on here this evening - Lennon's cheating which got Juanjo sent off. Video evidence is absolutely clear what happened. I would not favour stopping the flow of play to have such incidents reviewed as the ref could ask for several incidents to be reviewed. In this example the ref may well have sent Juanjo off and play continued but the Video ref could have a good look at the incident and when he is clear that there is no doubt as to what happened he could alert the ref at the next stoppage. The ref would then send the cheat off and recall the wrongly accused player from out the shower. This could equally apply to off the ball incidents which the ref will naturally miss. This could cause some confusion in the crowd so the information could be conveyed to the stadium announcer who could them announce the reason to the crowd. For instance "Lennon has been sent of because he is a cheating sh*te". I appreciate that such an arrangement is far from perfect but if we have the technology, I think we should make use of it to correct the most signicant wrong decisions whilst minimising the disruption to the flow of the game.1 point

I actually doubt that the standard of refereeing is getting worse, and I've been shouting at them since 1970 or so. What is different is our ability to see what is going on. This ain't grainy black & white BBC anymore, it's multi-angled CGI enhanced Sky and that's where the problem lies. There are so many angles that you can question the ref from - he has two eyes, a brain, a load of ill mannered louts shouting at him from opposing viewpoints, a few thousand other ill mannered louts baying for his blood and the likes of Lennon spontaneously combusting. Now make a 100% correct, impartial decision at all times. You're having a laugh. Accept that mistakes will be made, and they will pan out over a season. The ref is still the "sole arbiter of fact" (what he says, goes) and long may it be so.1 point

[error='For the avoidance of all doubt']Once again, a thread where the name Jock Stein is mentioned seems to give certain posters a sense of entitlement about trotting out the allegation - never proven - that he was aware of the actions of James Torbett. We have said this numerous times, and this will be the final time - If you want to post that, please be ready for the consequences. The consequence of posting this drivel WILL be a full and permanent ban from the site. We do not need this drivel posted, and we will not accept it. You have been warned.[/error]1 point

I wouldn't be erecting a statue to any particular individual. However, it's always bothered me that, as a club, we seem to shy away from everything pre-1994 so a pair of statues depicting the Eagle and the Thistle in recognition of the clubs roots and the work done by everyone to get us where we are would be most appropriate, IMO.1 point

Stop Celtic and Rangers fans going to away games, no club should sell tickets to the fans of both teams, fill the grounds with their own fans , deprive them of watching their teams in away matches.1 point

My biggest gripe at the minute, and it drives me insane at times, are the spineless linesmen / assistant referees who seem utterly incapable of making a decision by themselves and instead rely on the referee to make a call before going along with it. The most recent example that I remember was the home game against Saint Johnstone where the ball went out of play off a Saints player and the linesman gave a corner. Upon seeing that the referee had given a goal kick he changed his mind and flagged for a goal kick as well! If these guys aren't brave enough to make their own call and stand by it, especially when they are closest to the incident, then they should piss off and stop wasting our time.1 point

I think there is a reason the club shy away from everything pre-1994 and that is they don't want to inflame an already delicate and touchy subject Erecting an eagle and a thistle outside the main stand would be in my opinion a detrimental move on the clubs part and would achieve nothing more than stirring up a hornets nest dougal-1 points

You mean the guy who was captain of Hibs then the SPL player-of-the-year when Celtic won the title. Same player that got a lot of plaudits during their Champions League run, only to become captain of EPL club Wigan when he left. Yeah, must be a really terrible player... I guess you're basing it on Tony Mowbray's run, where the central defence was left to fend for themselves with no midfield support, so that Celtic could become 'the new Barcelona'. Name a single defender that did play well for Mowbray?-1 points
