  1. Donjo, ICT and RCFC arguing about away supports is like two bald men fighting over a comb. Our supports are about the same, usually one busload and some central belters. I've actually been at one or two C(o)unty games (not this season) and I say claims of 350 are rubbish, but if it's true then fair enough. As Luke says it was probably the Falkirk game, and we had some cracking supports ourselves in div 1. One thing I remember, (OK it's 10 years ago) when we played Hearts in the cup in 2002 they actually got County the round before us and I went along with Naelifts as our game was off. They beat County quite easily though it was only 2-1, and County had about 1500 sweetie rustlers who sat on their hands all day. When they drew ICT in the next round they probably thought it would be another walkover. Unfortunately for them, we took 2500 and lifted the roof off the place in the rain. On the park ICT blew the Jambos away 3-1. That's the difference. County are having a bit of glory this season but ICT have always been winners.

  3. For christ sake dougal dry your eyes. Its not a stadium that makes a team. Its not a stadium that gels players and fans. Its not a stadium that brings success. Its a heart and its a soul. This has to be the first time in all the forums, reports and blogs that I've ever read where a stupid playground debate like this one has come up. A classic case of na na na na my stadiums better than yours.

  4. Grant Munro has gone. There are a number of reasons why. Reasons that all party's would probably like put behind them. The bottom line is Grant and ICT parted company and have both moved forward since then. Thats the way it is and the way it will always be and nothing can be done to change that. Terry Butcher is a professional and I'm quite sure, if it is merited, he will speak very positively about Grant as he would about any good performance. Its time some of the fans of our club stopped dwelling on what has been, could have been, may have been and looked to the future.

  5. There are so many implications and connotations for the whole of Scottish football. But for now, I'm just going to enjoy the moment.

  7. Is there a point to your question, Laurence? If it is something you have an opinion on (and I assume you do, otherwise why start a new thread on the topic) why not give us the benefit of your thoughts and/or knowledge to give others something to actually comment on? Otherwise, I think it safe to assume that most of us neither know nor care.

  9. Eh? aye. I don't see any great threat in this, and with any luck it might hasten the flight south of their parnoid neighbours. What we are then left with is an SPL free to expand as required and a far more compeditive league where several sides have a realistic chance of doing well. The bile, bigotry and viciousness that the OF promotes is removed at a stroke. Yes, we might well lose the TV money (or some of it at least) and that might prompt a reorganisation so that all of our senior clubs live at their level and according to their means. We might have to rely on locally produced players. Small league? aye, but then we are a small country and we should be on a par with Belgium, Norway, Sweden etc. Bring it on I say.

  10. I wonder what he will have to say about Grant Munro's performance on the day and over the season. I am sure Chic will point out to him that Munro has been the rock upon which County's success has been built this season whilst ICT have struggled at the back with about 15 different combinations.

  12. Of course we shouldn't take a dive but if fouled there need not be any particular rush to get up again unless a clear goal scoring opportunity still exists. Just because officialdom does not enforce the laws of the game as effectively as it should does not give us an excuse for joining the cheats. Unfortunately, everyone is at it and the amount of holding and shirt pulling in the box at set peices is quite farcical. It just seems to be accepted these days and then when a referee decides that a particular incident is OTT and blows, he is accused of being inconsistent. The best way to ensure consistency is to actually enforce the laws of the game as they are and not put your own version into play. It's the same with speed limits - police let you go at a few MPH over the limit most of the time and then you get done at a slightly lower speed somewhere else. If you knew that if you exceed the limit and went through a camera that you would be prosecuted then everyone would know where they stood. So in football, if the ref sees a defender holding a player in the box then it's a penalty every time. Coaches would soon stop telling players to do this if they were to give away penalties every time. Another thing that annoys me is the broad interpretation of shielding a ball when shepherding a ball out of play. Most of the time this is obstruction pure and simple. If this not obstruction then I really don't know what is. Gving the decision the way of the attacker would surely make for more interesting football as the defender would be forced to take control of the ball and actually do something with it under pressure.

  13. Here's one I haven't heard for a while Caley (clap, clap, clap), Caley (clap, clap, clap) - Repeated till everyone get's bored or the opposition score. Seriously though, I'm 100% behind Doofer - and not just because I'm his Dad. "Caledonia" is a stirring tune and the lyrics are very appropriate. And when it becomes the national anthem of an independent Scotland, we will be recognised as the club side that symbolises Scotland's national identity during our extensive annual travels across Europe.

  14. Maybe the club could resarect "bring it on home" but perhaps it should be left in the archives. I personally think that the best song to get sung at the games would be Caledodia by Frankie Millar (Well by dougie maclean but the frankie miller version is better). I think the lyrics are just perfect for our club. I dont know if you can see, the changes that have come over me In these last few days, ive been afraid that i might drift away And ive been tellin old stories, singing songs That made me think about where i came from Thats the reason why i seem so far away today. CHORUS Oh but let me tell you that i love you And i think about you all the time Caledonia your callin me and im goin home But if i should become a stranger You know that it would make me more than sad Caledonia your everythin ive ever had. Could always change the word caledonia to caley thistle perhaps. Thoughts?

  15. Agree entirely with Dougal. Why do people choose to be so naive? No one can seriously believe that an ex England or Rangers captain would refuse either of the jobs because he's managing ICT. Why would you try to convince yourself this is a remote possibility? What's more worrying is that I am engaging in a thread that suggests he is even on the radar............ 'The English FA announce that Terry Butcher (former Inverness, Brentford, Motherwell, Sunderland, Sydney and Coventry manager) is to replace Fabio Capello (former Real Madrid (twice), AC Milan, Juventus and Roma manager) as the new national head coach. We had to work really hard to persuade Terry to give up his hugely successful career in Inverness (average home crowd 3240). Maurice Malpas will be his assistant and Tommy Cummings will now look after Wembley Stadium" Note to editors: Terry's managerial honours are: Scootish Football League runners up 2005 and Scottish First ~Division Champions 2010. Fabio Cappello has won the Champions League, 8 Seria A titles, 2 La Liga titles, 4 Italian FA Cups, 1 Italian Supercup and 1 UEFA Supercup. Runners up don't count for Fabio. Terry has as much chance of being the next England manager as me or Mike Basset!!
