Trying to analyse this closely. For us to go out of top six we need to be overtaken by three of the five teams below us. St J have two to play and would need two points from those games. Hibs need five points from nine. DU need six points from nine. Aberdeen and Killie both need seven from nine. Killie away to County and home to St Mirren and Dundee...........I can only see them get a max six points. Aberdeen away to Celtic home to Hearts and away to DU...........Realistically they may get four points. DU home to Dundee away to St J and home to Aberdeen...........For them to gain six needed they will have cancelled out either StJ or Aberdeen. Hibs away Motherwell home to Us and away Celtic.....................The most I see them getting there is two points St J have home to DU and away to us.......................................If they win both then they may overtake us but will have cancelled out DU's chances. Killie ruled out of top six. Aberdeen also ruled out. Hibs ruled out from overtaking us and may struggle to stay in top half. So, and I know miracles can happen, being realistic, and basing analyses on how those teams are faring at the moment, I cant see a permutation that will dislodge us from top six.2 points

I suspect that many, like me are scared stiff of how this might all pan out, and people react to that in many different ways. Some will downplay the significance and then enjoy an explosion of relief (ooer...) when and IF things go our way. Some will just enjoy the journey and some (like me) will have bitten their fingernails to the elbow by the time the split and then the end of the season comes! But just nip back to August/ September's forum posts and look at the ambitions we had for this year of armageddon. We've fulfilled them all and more and even if we didn't win another game this season that would still be true. I know that expectations adjust as circumstances change but I tell you what, it's now more than ever that this team need a positive vibe around them to get them to the finishing post. They need us, the supporters, to get right behind the team - especially this week. Every ICT supporter worth his salt needs to bust a gut to be there on Saturday and to leave without a single vocal chord intact. We need to outnumber, outsing and outsupport our neighbours if we are to get where we want to be. We need drums, we need flags. Saturday will get us into the top six for the first time ever and after that, who knows. Maintain third and anything is possible without any real pressure. We need unconditional, unequivocal support all week. We need CTO, P&B and OTB to be flooded with our agenda, our team and we need everyone there on saturday. I'll be there, doing my best to crank it up in the local media with a Caley Thistle agenda right at the front. I confidently predict Caley D will stir the pot to boiling point on the day and that Terry and the team will be jumping for this one. You never know, it might just work.2 points

Looking at the table as it stands right now the bottom three cannot make top six. Of the next three Dundee United possibly have the most realistic chance of making it. We have six points on Killie but they have a very difficult awayday to Dingwall so I dont envisage them being a threat. Aberdeen have an awayday to Celtic and DU and based on performances I dont see them getting more than a point from those fixtures. Our next three games are against County, Hibs and St Johnstone and that is where our destiny lies. It is in our own hands which position we are in at the split but it wont be bottom six.1 point

Previoulsy on a similar post a few months back I posted Shinniesta, McKay, Foran in that order, but having seen Shinnie dip in form and the number of goals starting to slow down, it highlights to me while maybe not player of the season, but Foran is most important player of the season - the team just plays and operates much better with him present.1 point

I agree with Esson not having the best of seasons. But your last sentence might be caused by the quality of those back 4...1 point

I like the banter with the C*unty fans, but it is just that...banter. Ultimately I couldn't give a toss what they achieve this season (or any other season) and I'm certainly not letting it have any bearing on how I go about supporting ICT or enjoying what we are doing. For those who are concerned with our near neighbours, or want to hold their achievements in high regard......bear in mind that they are achieving thanks to Uncle Roys wallet, although the existence of side companies which hold in excess of £2.5 Million of debt suggest he's maybe not dipping as far into his pocket as some might have you believe!!! People seem to have short memories...a quick look at the rise and fall of teams like Livingston and Gretna should be warning enough that such things are not sustainable. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them - Ephesians 5:111 point

Sorry, I support ICT so I can big them up, sing their praises and celebrate every bit of success throughout the season. If we went by the logic in your post then we'd be as well only bothering to turn up for the game before the split and the final game of the season and/or sitting silently for the rest of the year....and it's that kind of mentality that makes it so hard to create a proper atmosphere at TCS at times. Leave the whole "keeping your feet on the ground" thing to the team, it's what they're paid to do.1 point

Clacher, you're talking about the team....and you are right, that is how they should be approaching it. Fans, however, should be shouting from the rooftops about how well we are doing....if we can't do that, then what's the point of it all!!!1 point
