  1. I've wondered a wee bit at times, particularly under Butcher, if we're focusing too much down south and potentially missing out on players in Scotland. As we all know, Steve Paterson was very good with the Highland League and there must be players we could bring through floating around in Scotland. I see up until 2010, Greg Stewart was playing for Syngenta Amateurs. This season he was nominated for Player of the Year. There must be others like him out there.
  2. I don't know if it is just the BBC but anyhow, it was on the BBC website that I noted that in the fixtures for the FIFA Women's World Cup they are appending the word "Women" after the country names. For instance, tonight we have Sweden Women v Nigeria Women. Given that the competition name explicitly has the word "Women" in it, it seems totally unnecessary to add this into the team name. Is this just the BBC being overtly sexist in how they are reporting the competition? It's a shame really because the women's game deserves to be taken seriously on it's own merits without people reporting it in a sexist way or making cheap sexist jokes about it. I have watched some of the early highlights and there is some really pretty good stuff on display. The football's been OK too.

You are right. I have made a total arse of this and am deeply ashamed. I suppose it shoes I'm not a total anorak - perhaps just a fleece!

Looks to me like we can eliminate the following seeded sides from Round 1 as they will be unseeded for Round 2 regardless of who they beat. Željezničar CC: 6.000 Randers CC: 5.960 Strømsgodset CC: 5.875 KR CC: 5.600 Jagiellonia Białystok CC: 5.550 Botoșani CC: 5.259 Lokomotiva CC: 5.200 Shamrock Rovers CC: 5.150 F91 Dudelange CC: 5.025 Inter Baku CC: 5.000 Linfield CC: 4.975 Beroe Stara Zagora CC: 4.850 Valletta CC: 4.841 Differdange 03 CC: 4.775 Rabotnički CC: 4.675 Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino CC: 4.650 Aberdeen CC: 4.580 Dacia Chișinău CC: 4.500 Koper CC: 4.475 St Patrick's Athletic CC: 4.400 Beitar Jerusalem CC: 4.200 Zrinjski Mostar CC: 4.000 HB CC: 3.950 Budućnost Podgorica CC: 3.875 Birkirkara CC: 3.591 Domžale CC: 3.475 Vaduz CC: 3.450

Some of them may end up losing to unseeded teams in the 1st round but out of 51 teams last year only 8 teams managed to beat the seeded side so I don't think there will be too many changes. I had a look on skyscanner for a quick look at flights for each destination, there was some places I just couldn't find flights for though.

It was the word "wash" that confused them...

The points are awarded as follows: Q1 loser = 0.25 Q2 loser = 0.50 Q3 loser = 1.00 Play-off loser = 1.50 Reaching Group stage = 2.00 plus the opportunity to add to this with wins/draws in the group. Knock-out stages = similarly tiered system with more points gained for further progress. Anyway, from the coefficient table, Scotland are 17.90 points. Inverness, with no Euro games in the past 5 years were awarded 20% of this = 3.58 All clubs get 1/5 of their country-coefficient. Aberdeen are rated 4.58 which is exactly 1.00 more than us. they got that extra point for being eliminated by Real Sociedad last year in Q3. And St Johnstone are on 6.08. Exactly 2.50 ahead of us. They gained 0.50 for a Q2 defeat to a Turkish club from 2012/13, 1.00 for a Q3 defeat by Dinamo Minsk in 2013/14 and 1.00 for a Q3 loss last year to Spartak Trnava.
  8. Can see us going with a starting lineup along the lines of... Esson Meekings Warren Devine Williams Draper Tansey Vincent Christie Ross Doran Think we could get a lot of goals with a fluid Barcelona style 'trident' front 3 of false 9s all drifting and dropping into pockets of space, then pressing back when we lose the ball. SPL defenders aren't used to coping with that kind of movement. Christie and Doran have shown how much damage they can do cutting in from the flanks. Surging runs from Meekings, Williams and Vincent will create overloads. Draper and Tansey sitting deep will keep the back door closed.
  9. Not finalised yet, but wheels are in motion for production of a double DVD.
  10. I keep having to watch the final again to make sure it actually happened!
