  1. This is just revisiting arguments of 2012, but certain myths perpetuate. It's simply a blatant case of having been allowed to have their cake and eat it. You cannot claim club and corporate are one and the same thing when it suits you and then claim they are different when it doesn't. Rangers went out of business in disgrace whilst millions in debt to a huge range of bodies and individuals. The injustice was the company in question being allowed to dispose of its assets to another body which previously didn't exist so anything and everything it did or created had to be new entities. These assets, if there was any justice in the world, should have been sold off to pay the debts of the dead institution. Selling Ibrox off as bright green ASDA Govan would have been wonderfully ironic! What is totally wrong is the inconsistency that the debts, by way of which a large number of titles were won by the dead institution, were allowed to be cancelled while a club bearing the name of that dead institution was allowed to short circuit the rules for admission into the SFL and, to the detriment of the likes of Spartans and Edinburgh City who were left in the queue, be fast tracked in. They have to make up their minds. Are they a new body which was given preferential treatment by the SFL or are they the old one, in which case they should still be liable for their debts. One thing which hasn't continued to the same extent as before is the triumphalism and hubris - mainly because there really hasn't been much for them to be triumphalistic or hubristic about. Here's hoping tonight keeps things that way and that they remain Rangers as opposed to the more reverential and sycophantic "Rrrrangers". I have never held the view that they were missed - in fact Armageddon was great! - and I certainly won't be there tonight, although I will watch the game in the Social Club.
  2. Overall the league's newcomers were worthy winners and looked to be a pretty decent side. They kept possession well and were always looking to break forward quickly. But we played well too, Defensively we were pretty solid and if truth be told, we created the better chances and created enough to have won the game. Mulraney and Doran both provided a real threat when they came on and will surely get more game time soon. We will certainly play worse this season and win. The difference was in the finishing. Gilt edged chances were missed by our two strikers at either end of the game that you would expect a street league striker to bury. We had other chances but Foderingham was never seriously troubled. At the other end, Fon Williams was called into action a few times from less good chances and Miller's goal was a finish of real quality. It is always disappointing to lose but I hope those "occasional" supporters who helped to get the crowd over 7000 will have enjoyed the game and will come back again. Despite the disappointment of losing it was a thoroughly enjoyable game and a world away from the sterile negative football of last season. It was good to see a sizeable number of fans standing to applaud the team off the field at the end.despite having lost. That didn't happen last season.
  3. Willie Collum is a disgrace, usually he's awful for both teams but tonight his incompetence could be seen as bias. Before the game I said we needed to play king mulraney and fisher to get in behind their slow defence but the starting line up failed to do that, but once we changed in the 2nd half I thought we looked really dangerous znd had them pegged back. Unfortunately I think RF got it a wee bit wrong tonight and some players let him down. But Mckay played well at CB and Tremarco made some great last ditch tackles with Draper covering everywhere as usual. Vigurs yet again showed no heart or desire again and let the game pass him by, with Doran fit there really can't be many reasons to play Vigurs now?
  4. Disappointing to lose that but on the bright side we are streets away from the turgid football we produced last season. We're setup to be so much more positive and it's moles better to watch. Still lacking a goalscorer though. Would have thought that Doran has done enough for a start next week.
  5. They let their club die......simple. Not a case of believing - factually based on the legal criteria the old club is dead therefore any history becomes just that.
  6. I inherited my father's genes....but I am not my father.
  7. Was Kingsmills ever liquidated? Is he in fact a zombie? We need to know.
  8. Having sampled the 'welcome' for away fans at Ibrox my next visit will be a long time coming. The club may be different but sadly the fans are very much the same.
  9. 1 point
    Ummm......eh....... https://ictfc.com/news/club/jd-deal-extended-to-2020
  10. We're at home, Sevco are terrible with their only improved performances using the majority of players who were in the Championship last year and that team was no great quality. We need to go at them, show no respect and put pressure on their dodgy center backs. OFW Mckay Meekings Warren Tremarco Tansey Polly Mulraney Draper King Fisher I think with the pace of Mulraney & KIng we can get in behind their full backs, especially Tavernier as he always pushes on and can be caught out, Fisher is a bit more physical and I think against a slow defence who will try bully our players then he may have more success than Doumbaye. Disappointed Barton wont play though so I could see Draper own him.
  11. The disgrace they brought to Scottish football and the number of small traders who's bills were left unpaid when the old club ceased to exist was very far from a joke. The fans of the new club are very fortunate indeed that the Scottish football authorities sought fit to treat them as a special case and permitted the new club to gain immediate entry to the league system. I am far from convinced that other brand new clubs would have been afforded the same privilege.
  12. Do people seriously believe its a new club or is it just a joke? Either way i find it a bit tiresome these days. They might be a new corporate business but the football club is the same. They still have all their major titles and history.
