  1. And they're back. Pitch Inspection Incoming The Spiders are back a week on from the no scoring Championship draw at the Caledonian Stadium. I doubt much has changed within either camp although plenty has changed weather wise. There has been nearly a foot of snow dumped across the area since Monday into Tuesday. Let's hope conditions improve drastically or we will be without a game this weekend although as I type, the snow seems to be turning to rain and a thaw is on. Last weeks game was as entertaining a goalless game as you will see with plenty of chances and big saves at both ends. However, this week it's Scottish Cup action. It's nearly eight years since the Caley Jags lifted the trophy. Spare a thought for Spiders fans, their last success in this competition was 1893, although they have won it 10 times: 1874, 1875, 1876, 1880, 1881, 1882, 1884, 1886, 1890, 1893. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Match Info/Tickets Pitch Inspection ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mind you, plenty has changed over the last 150 years, although there was a lot of scurrilous goings on back in the day including Vale of Leven refusing to turn up for the final in 1884. Even the 1993 final had controversy surrounding it. I wonder why they never told anyone until half the game had been played. Final: 25 February 1893 (see Wiki links) Celtic 1 – 0 Queen's Park Towie Ibrox Park, Govan Attendance: 30,000 Referee: R. F. Harrison Match declared void due to frozen pitch (decided pre-match after inspection, but not announced to spectators until the second half) What, no undersoil heating? Cup Final replay (11th March 1983) From Wikipedia Queen's Park 2 – 1 Celtic Sellar Blessington Ibrox Park, Govan Attendance: 15,000 Referee: R. F. Harrison The winning goal was believed by some observers not to have fully entered the goal before being cleared, and Celtic protested but the score stood. Although their use would not have resolved that particular incident, this controversy and debate led to goal nets being introduced in the latter stages of the Scottish Cup from then on. 😂 Same old Celtic, always greeting 😂 I'm told Mantis and Gringo were at that replay. Anyway, nostalgia is great, but let's get back to the future>>> This was the scene at the Caledonian Stadium this week as Global Warming cooled us all down. Here we can see a couple of players coming out of their cryogenic state and hoping to be ready for the Cup game against Queens Park. I was told one of them is Nathan Thaw and the other is either Mark Fridgers who had been frozen out recently or midfielder Scott Allhardice. Latest Team News 2023 Billy Dodds has seen Nathan Shaw, Sean Welsh and Zak Delaney return in recent weeks. However we have lost Max Ram for around a month and Cammy Harper has been missing. One step forward and two back at times. The Spiders may well be along the same lines as their Championship team last weekend.
  2. Given the recent games called off elsewhere with short notice, doing an early inspection is welcomed. While over the following 24 hours the situation may change (in either way) if a holistic view is taken of travel conditions and local to the stadium, it saves the QP fans the potentially wasted & dangerous journey up the A9 for nothing, especially those who may plan to head up later today (hopefully any hotels or accommodation would be sympathetic in refunding or changing dates) Not usually a defender of the SFA, but feel this is the right call but thankless either way and open to plenty criticisms.
  3. Maybe Austin Samuels is nearing a return from injury.
  4. Listening to Dodds press conference and his head's gone. His reaction to Coyle's comments are very bizarre!
  5. Early pitch inspections are common sense for all who have to travel far to games, but I'm not sure that the same respect is always shown to teams from the North when they are travelling south to the central belt for games.
  6. I think with most of the posts being depressing and repetitive regarding the way this season has panned out, there hasn't been too much to get excited about, hence the lack of any content from a lot of posters, me included. Things have been so bad that you feel like you are just constantly posting about the same topics all the time. Apart from the last couple of results, this season has been a very hard watch, and I think that has certainly affected the amount of posters on here, and I've also noticed it on Facebook.
  7. Tuesday 31st, 1945 ko.
  8. Reminds me of this tweet.
  9. I missed the first half hour because of some guys playing darts instead of getting their jaikets on and their erses into the charabanc. This isn’t happening, is it?
  10. Agreed. The issues people have with the club right now are way deeper than cost of entry. I've personally never felt so disconnected.
  11. You make a good point Dougal, I like this forum and always have a check on it at around this time of night though I don't always post on it, mainly as I don't want to unnecessarily fall out with members and mods on here as has happened in the past. Tbh I have watched a lot more Rugby this past couple of years, in fact I've watched more Rugby this past fortnight than football, I didn't even watch the world cup apart from bits here and there and also, the new Tennis season is in full swing now so I always watch that especially this time of the year when it's in Australia :). I want to wish all a Happy New year and am making this promise: This year I'm going to try very hard to not fall out with members and try to get liked more 😁, I have a comedic sense of humour which I'd like you peeps to see lol.
