  1. Just watched the highlights and agree that referees make mistakes and get it wrong. Watching Scottish premier league and English premiership they are made to look foolish when VAR intervenes to change their on the spot decisions. Slowed down the highlights for our penalty. the stenny gk came out, held his ground and billy jumped up and over him. He didn’t go through billy. What else could the gk do. I would be aggrieved if a penalty was given against us for that. No flack please, happy to take the decision, just the way I see it.
  2. There were 7 guys sitting in front of me up from England, 2 of them arrived about 20 mins after KO as they got lost looking for the ground. Must have been stragglers from the pub they were in. Conversation started when one asked is there anywhere to get a pint, I pointed them to bar 94 explained why it was called that and is open after game. What about half time, not in Scotland I said unless it is a rugby game. They were amazed at the location of the stadium at the side of the sea. They clapped their hearts out in the 14th minute although not knowing what it was for. Lucky I had read TM4TJ preview and told them why. One asked who the blonde guy was who was having a good game. Louis longstaff I said to get the reply “ he was at liverpools academy.” Crikey at halftime a couple of them were dancing in the aisle to skippinnish blasting out over the tannoy.👏 They were really enjoying the game chanting with the crowd. Halfway through the 2nd half I could see the outcome, don’t take your chances, get hit with the sucker punch. At full time one guy turned round and sighed “ AH well enjoy the rest of your weekend.” I felt really sorry for them as a win would have made their day, but I am sure they would have drowned their sorrows in bar 94 and in town later on.
  3. "It’s part of the enjoyment of the game and I partake in condemning some decisions taken. However these guys are simply applying the rules of the game. These rules don’t have a team preference." Unfortunately they don't always apply the rules of the game. They get it wrong all too often. The referee spoiled the game constantly whistling every time someone went to ground. McIntyre was booked because he was not happy about a 'foul' given against him. That ultimately led to the penalty goal one kick later. It could have got worse had he been booked again for a minor shove or looking the wrong way at the referee. It's nothing new for referee's to make mistakes, it's been going on since the game was invented. However, as said before, that was not the reason we lost, but it contributed to it. It didn't make me smirk, it p155ed cheesed me off.
  4. This seems to be our go to default position in just about every match just now. When we don’t get the result we want it’s the failure of the referee. 😄 It’s part of the enjoyment of the game and I partake in condemning some decisions taken. However these guys are simply applying the rules of the game. These rules don’t have a team preference. bc
  5. I felt the referee was poor for both sides and let’s not go down the route of blaming the match officials for our results. We should have won that game with the chances created. Stenny adapted and improved in the second half while our subs failed to make a positive impact in the game. Danny yet again looked vulnerable. What’s going on with Bavidge?? He has to start ahead of Billy.
  6. Did they not mention the referee per chance? Anyway, i'm thinking that Cherly must be or was a ref / ass. ref or something! Of course we can in reality blame ourselves for not scoring, thats not the refs fault, However some decisions can and do change a game rightly or wrongly. The pen situation was very very soft, as there is always shoving and pushing in the box before corners etc. are take, The Stenny guy was pushing Devine away, (seeing it from where i sit behind the goal) he bundles into his own player and they both fall over, this what gave the ref a decison to make, And at this level they love using their authority. This ref was in error giving a free kick at the stand touchline and you could see the frustration in the players most of the game as this clown made it the Gavin ego platform. So referee's can alter games, The pen game them a huge lift and certainly showed in the second half by taking their one chance.
  7. I've been guilty of using the 'soft penalty' description in the past, but just questioned myself over it because if it's a penalty, it's a penalty. How hard or soft it is only really matters in regard to what, if any, cards may accompany it.
  8. Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday, or sent us questions in advance. Please bear with us for a day or two and we will issue a summary of the discussion that took place.
  9. Surprised you didn't give the ref a glowing report Cherly! 😄 Anyway, Shyte happens, We just troubled to test their keeper, They just played to a game plan and got lucky from a clown of a ref and some poor defending. Anyone else think Devine is a liabilty these days?
  10. Sucker Punched Fifth versus seventh at the start of play today on Matchday 3 with the Warriors above unbeaten Inverness. Both sides had won last weekend and in the KDM Evolution Cup in midweek which hopefully tees this up to be an entertaining game in the Highlands on a warm Saturday afternoon. Liam Sole came off injured last weekend and was on the bench today with Bavidge, Zimba and Robbie Thompson. In a first half dominated by the hosts our profligacy kept the visitors in the game. All we had to show for it was a Paul Allan penalty. In stepped Gavin Duncan, allegedly a referee, to then award a penalty to Muir in their only attack of the first half for Matty Aitken to net from the spot. We could have been four up before this setback. We were pretty ineffective for most of the second half with the visitors playing more of the same rubbish. However, with ten minutes left Ross Taylor knocked in the winner after a break forward to ruin our afternoon in the Sun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~By the time kick-off approached, it was a roasty-toasty afternoon with ample singing juice lubrication applied in Bar94 ahead of the game during the Meet & Greet with Allan Savage and 10CC. Inverness got the game underway shooting towards the South Stand and an early opportunity presented itself to Billy Mckay in the first minute, but his shot as he entered the box on the inside left position was weak and easily gathered by the keeper. Oscar McIntyre was prominent in most of the early moves but nobody in the box was able to turn his inviting crosses into the net. Longstaff might have done better twisting and turning his way into the box but was eventually blocked. McIntyre drove one from outside the box as the one way traffic continued and Alfie Stewart was denied by the feet of Darren Jamieson before he spilled an effort from Joe Chalmers, grabbing the ball quickly as it spun behind him. The pressure eventually paid off when Jamieson unceremoniously upended Mckay as he raced round the keeper. Paul Allan made no mistake from the spot, lashing the ball high into the net. Another low ball into the box caused havoc before being eventually cleared. Mckay then shot wide...Here we go we all thought. One up going on four. However, Gavin Duncan offered Stenny a lifeline with a soft free kick in midfield and compounded our frustration by eventually booking McIntyre. When the ball was launched forward, he then gave a foul for Devine's hands on attempt to get above the attacker. That foul was adjudged to be inside the box and despite protestations from the defence, a penalty was given which Matty Aitken dispatched easily. That seemed to take the wind out of our sails as half time approached. HALF TIME 1-1 We were a bit flat at the start of the second half before Paul Allan went off after a knock to be replaced by Alfie Bavidge who got his first shot away soon after with Jamieson saving at his near post. Something odd then happened. Something that I never expected. Ross Munro had to block a breakaway as Olly Whyte burst into the box. I never knew they were allowed to cross the half way line? Substitute Jordan Alonge was inches too high as he headed goalwards off a corner a minute after entering the field of play. Alas our early slackness in front of goal came back to haunt us as Ross Taylor beat Munro at his near post with ten minutes left after wandering into the box from the right and catching the keeper out by shooting early. Liam Sole and Alfie Bavidge were both denied by the keeper as we peppered their goal but it just never happened. Lordy Lordy that was as frustrating as it gets with Stenhousemuir sticking to their game plan and Inverness wasteful. 19 shots to 4, but it's goals that count. With seven saves, Darren Jamieson was the Warriors hero. We also had 9 corners which we wasted. That's a disturbing statistic that we need to address. FULL TIME: 1-2 Huge disappointment for the home fans who to a man/woman/person or anything that identifies as anything would have backed the hosts to take all three points. However, maybe a timely reminder that no League has ever been won after just three games. Despite the Caley Jags bombarding the Warriors all afternoon, it was the men from the Ochils that went home with the points as they refused to wilt in the Highland heat. Robert on CTO: That should have been a comfortable win but we paid the penalty for not being out of site in the first half. Some of our play and movement was top drawer in the first half but we are still too reluctant to shoot and chances go a begging as a result. The free kick in the lead up to the penalty was a shocking decision as MacIntyre won the ball cleanly (but he deserved his booking for walking away with the ball) and I thought the penalty was debatable: one I need to see again. We didn’t play nearly as well after the break but were well on top and should have been able to put the game to bed. Instead we got caught on the counter attack. A bad day at the office but we knew there would be bad days. The key thing is to learn from it and regroup for the Montrose game. No Listen! 12. How we conspired to loose today simply deflates, for me, some of the best flowing football I have ever seen from a ICT team; yet loose it we did! Oh for the want of a striker that can put the ball in the net. As others have said here a score of 3-1 for ICT at half time would not have been an inaccurate reflection of the performance and dominance. Billy’s game just didn’t produce the required goals needed unfortunately. I couldn’t see really what happened for stenny to get the penalty. I’ll wait and see the highlights first. The second half was chalk and cheese in way of performance IMO. Gone was the zip and fast flowing football and replaced with our normal miss-pass in the final third. I have to say I wasn't surprised Stenny managed to get past our keeper for their second and winning goal. Again as others above have said the timing and selection of the subs/replaced was late and reactive for me. The Stenny manager Naysmith changed the game at the appropriate time (far earlier in the SH) which was rewarded with a surprised three points. Yes they had the run of the green, but stayed resolute and defended stoutly throughout. So credit and well done Stenny for there performance. The referee was not the reason for our loss today. The failings lay at our own shortcomings. Don’t argue with the bloke, there is only one winner. Understand that and we will pick up less yellow cards. I don’t want to be over critical of us here as we were bound to loose sooner or later. Again lessons have to learned and taken on board. bc
  13. 3 points carelessly thrown away today. Some harsh lessons need to be quickly learnt especially by the manager Substitutions needed to be made to be made earlier today as the swagger of the first half had gone and we needed to change things. Danny Devine needs a rocket up his arse as he is constantly playing balls/passes that he doesn't have to and lead to the ball being given away. We lost the second goal because we faffed about in midfield, Devine was charging upfield and we were exposed horribly for the goal. Don't think the keeper covered himself in glory either for that one. The Stenhousemuir penalty really changed the game. In the second half, they just played 2 banks od four and tried to hit on the breaks. We didn't go wide often enough, as we had been doing, in the first half until Sole game on. Referee definitely impacted the game today with the penalty for them. Gave them virtually everything in terms of fouls yet missed some clear and blatant fouls all over the park. Easily the worst Referee seen here for years. Ultimately, we beat ourselves and we need to wise op quickly.
