You're on fire, weeman! My Dad (and his Dad) used to live on Innes Street, so he took a few photographs as the top of the street, together with Railway Terrace and a large of chunk of Rose Street, disappeared for ever, to make way for the new road system. Just off to the right of this picture would have been the house with the parrots, which IBM remembered a couple of pages (and years) ago.

Aye - the main thing it tells us is that Rangers and Celtic should have been pushed out into a more competitive league a long time ago! That really does bring home how dominant they have been. Not good for the other clubs, and not good for them either. 35 years since another team last won the league

One of my father's photos. I think this would have been around 1989 - but I can definitely say that it doesn't look like this any more!

The first of our two visits to Orkney was in 2002. We went round the Highland Park distillery, and they told us then that some of their staff fired up the Scapa distillery for a few weeks each year, just to keep it in working condition. Didn't go round the Scapa distillery three years ago - just wanted to see if they had anything unusual in the shop, for a present for a friend.

So it must be the junction of Telford Street and Harrowden Road, before the roundabout was built? Can't remember it, yet I would have passed it so many times.

Yup, I had forgotten about the hill. Can't be Wells Street, then. Thought at first that it was the Craig, but it looks a bit far away if the photo was taken in that area. Then I thought that it might be looking in the other direction - towards Culloden above Balloch. But it looks too high for that. The angle of the sun doesn't help - it could be either. And I have no idea where you went to school! Give me a few minutes

We're in the same area of town, but I thought it might be the end of Wells Street, where the "new" Telford Street roundabout is. However, the windows, door and chimneys don't quite match up. Did they demolish the first cottage down to the second lot of chimneys, and then put in a door where the second ground floor window was? Or demolish the first one-and-a-half cottages?

Yup, I thought about that, too. Thinking specifically of Annan, Elgin and Peterhead were in the league before Annan joined, so Annan just had to put up with it. But now the boot is on the other foot....

And if I google for "west coast phone box" and select "images", the very first one is an almost identical picture! Guesswork and luck.

I know that Brora are up for it, but have any of the League Two clubs made noises about possibly having to travel so far north? The old thing about long treks north in winter. Annan to Brora is 300 miles.

Another place I have never been to. I found it with some guesswork and amazing luck, but will leave it for others for a while. It's definitely NOT from "Local Hero".

Thanks, guys! It was clearly slides that I was scanning, and sometimes there weren't obvious markings on the mounts to show which way round they should be. Flipping the original, I can easily read it, and it is the "Kyleakin" out of Glasgow. Was introduced in 1970, and, not surprisingly, used on the old Skye crossing. "Kyleakin" and her sister "Lochalsh" were normally overhauled at Fleming's yard in Stornoway. Much more info at http://www.shipsofcalmac.co.uk/h_kyleakin.asp

When I was going through old photos recently, I came across these two photos of the Suilven. Taken by my father in 1975 or 1976, at Stornoway, I think. This one below is a couple of frames later on the film. Even on the full-size version, I can't read the name. The weather looks different, and maybe it's not Stornoway? My father worked for the Highland Health Board and used to visit the hospital in Stornoway, but also one further south which was run by nuns. Maybe more - I can't remember.

Damn! For some reason I was thinking of aluminium, and I even looked up pictures of the works at Kinlochleven. But of course it's Foyers, bombed on 13 Feb 1941 - https://southlochnessheritage.co.uk/local-occurrences-during-ww2-from-police-files/ Now here's something a bit different. Prehistoric remains - but where? You'll see that the photograph was taken in 2002. I have seen more recent photographs which suggest to me that the grass is a bit shorter nowadays - though it may just be the time of year.
