IHE, I come on here everyweek and defend Marius to you. tell you how good he is etc etc. Well today.... I can't beleive I am going to say this.....he was pap....and scored 2 goals!!! :017: He did not do what he normally does off the ball. His flicks and passes were not in evidence....Still... I am not complaining. Admittedly he had nobody else to play for as he was up front on his own. His first goal was a class composed lob and the second was a well buried sitter

No. I used to be a great fan of Roscoe but agree with everything said above. Clean sheets, Roscoe gone off the boil for too long. I wouldn't get rid of him yet though. We still need him for cover and to keep Bambie on his toes but I think, on current form, Procter is deffo first choice.
-
ahem, if the last two posts were open to critical analysis in respect of their logical validity.....I would have to concede defeat. :clapping03: nil - one to you sir. As a biased emotional fan.....Marius Nicholai....Marius Nicholai....(etc etc)
-
IHE - not having a go against you generally as I think many of the points you make on here are spot on....and I wasn't at Tannadice. But I don't think we wil agree on Marius. I think we could watch the same 'sooperb' flicks and 'pretty passes' and come to different conclusions as to his worth. Perhaps I have the 'halo' on him and you have the 'horns' but..... :024: you're wrong :blah01:
-
I must be watching a different Marius. Fantastic opportunity maker for Dennis. when they play together we win, it's that simple.
-
Can't argue with that
-
Yep and maybe the undoubted communication difficulties are not sinister but merely incompetence. Surely this is more believable than a BoD who employ people to do as they say so that they can fiddle as Rome burns? And re Scotties points: about us always having a good team spirit in the past and not being renknowned for having trouble makers ...things change! Especially when noses are put out of joint. about the problems not being within the team but team vs hierachy....look at the body language on the pitch. All I say is lets give him a bit longer...I do think the need to manage and Lead what he was given until the Jan window could be a major factor.
-
Point number one is probable as working to your own plan is what managers are for. Also remember we were pap before he came; especially as a team. Perhaps for the sake of the team some better players but 'trouble makers' need to be sacrificed. That's what managers do. Pont number 2 makes a good conspiracy theory but: a. Where is the motive on behalf of the board? Clever men wil eventually realise that they can't manage a team when they continually lose and to say they replaced CC with a puppet so they could go on losing is nonsense. b. Why would someone of Brew's experience in the game, relative youth as a manager and who knew the set up here put his new career at risk by doing this? c. Perhaps the casualties are those who were part of the last charade and the current rumpus is just because the BoD and Brew are cutting out the cancer. d. Perhaps the reason this has not been done before is because we needed to limp closer to the transfer window. ...just a thought but I think a more probable one that a board wanting a puppet to makes us even less successful. CC was a nice guy and under nice guys some trouble makers can make hay.

IHE; I know you can't get to every game and am guessing you were not there on sat - no offence intended by that. I saw that report as well. Trust me; Marius played another blinder; he was pap in front of goal but everywhere else was pure class. He has got a bit selfish in, I think, his desparation to score. Also there were a couple of occasions when he was in a perfect position but, for some reason, his team 'mates' chose not to pass to him. More and more I see him as an attacking central midfielder. I take caleyboyz point that the team should not need to be built around one player but don't think we should ignore a great opportunity here. Take the pressure off him scoring; value him for his asissts and get somebody else up with Dennis for other striking options. Hmmmm......just thought about Brew's strong stance with Blackie in today's courier.....
-
I know we were under the cosh yesterday and rode our luck but from a purely statistical point of view once again Marious + Dennis = 3 pts. (there was a thread somewhere about this but a can't be bothered to find it) I am also starting to think Marious could be the midfielder we are looking for with other striking options alonside Dennis. Marious's distribution and reading of the game are superb. He started our goal yesterday with a beautiful flick on header to Dennis that every newspaper (and Brew in his interview) seem to have missed. But...he is having immense problems finding the net!

Firstly let me say this is just a thought and I am open to debate but are many of us being really negative about recent goings on? Here is a more positive alternative universe. The club realised early on that it had made a mistake with CC. CC realised it and, as all were decent people, all involved wanted to sort it in a win/win. they knew who they wanted based on previous performances here - not those at the Arabs. The club showed it's ambition when it signed Marius but didn't realise the effect that this would have on some unprofessional trouble makers in the team. There were/are problems somewhere within the club with divisions and low moral amongst the players. The club wanted a strong manager who was not afraid to be unpopular (after CC) to sort this out. Brew had to keep things together long enough in order to get to the Jan window but is now putting his foot down at the right time. Some of those who were causing the trouble don't like this. There is, for a short time, more unrest at the club but...you can't make an omelette without cracking a few eggs! (read Brew's comments re Black in today's courier) Donald Park really does want to go south for family reasons, see's some good career opportunities coming up and maybe just didn't 'click' with Brew as well as he did with others. This is not the same as major animosity - both can be good guys but with differing ideas and maybe just didn't 'click'. I would add that although he is really respected on here DP has been part of the set up throughout our really poor period - perhaps he is out of step with current ideas at the club or perhaps he wants to go before being tarred with the same brush (as he want's a move south and need to find a job). None of these need point to 'serious' problems. Maybe all this is just the shake up we need. Do what you've always done and you'll get what you have always got and; lets face it, it was not working under CC. Maybe the club and Brew realise the mistakes they made when he left. Maybe; just maybe Brew' problems at the Arabs were due to factors beyond his control and he has now learn't from his mistakes. Remember Strachan was the first manager to get Coventry relegated from the English top fliggt in 22 years; then look what he did for Southampton after that) Pure speculation but I say give Brew, and the board, a few more months before coming to a conclusion.
-
Quite agree, no problem with S-anta having a say in the fixtures but why can't they do it before the start of the season?
-
Don't want to take sides Necksor but we were even worse under CC than we are now so if that was due to CC relying on DP then it's a good job he is going!
-
How's this for a scenario? The "midfield three" have been causing low moral and disruption for a number of months that has affected the whole team under both CC and Brew. Brew was seen by the board as the man to get a grip of it. We know he is not afraid to be unpopular with the players. Brewster has decided that the loss of skill will be more than made up for by increased team spirit and is putting his foot down. Pure speculation and based on no intelligence but it could explain the lack of moral under CC and every time we go 1-0 nil down, not playing Rankin, Black's walkout, etc etc. Many of us have all been saying something is wrong behind the scenes since the start of the season (See the IHE thread) perhaps this is it. Let's face it, Brew knows how good Black is and Rankin and Hart have a good record, there has to be some reason for it. I don't buy that it is simply the manager not knowing his players, there is something political.
-
I am coming to the same conclusion IHE

Today...well it's all been said. Many of the comments about Brewsters selection and sticking with his favourites seem valid. Blackie, apparently, walking out at half time is scary...was this because he had been subbed? If so..then daft decision as he was, again, our best player in the first half. If he had not been subbed....even more scary!! What I saw today was straight back to before CC left. Played OK to start with, went a goal down and dropped our heads, argued with each other(particularly MF and his defence who completely ignore him) gave up and lost the plot. If there is discord and it's the same as when CC was here is there somethething or someone other than the manager(s) causing it? Regardless of lack of success Brewster is an experienced footballer. If it is nothing to do with the above we are left with the fact that Brewster really did think it best to: Start McCaffrey who is proven rubbish Drop Nicholae again -why? Never even give Deano 5 mins the whole season when the club raved about him when he was signed and he seems to be doing OK in the reserves Loan out Morgan - who I though was one of his fav's Never play Rankin who has been inconsistant but a match winner in some games Never play himselfdue to a very lengthy shoulder injury....hmmm :024: Leave Bayne on for the second half when he was doing nothing, on a yellow and losing it. Take off (perhaps) Blackie DO NOTHING in response to the sending off when we had options on the bench - albeit striking. Finally, Leave the Captaincy with Munro who had shown how relient he was on Dodds as a player and how little impact he has as a leader on the pitch. He must shoulder a large part of the indiscipline responsibility today. If Brew did think all this was wise then thats the scariest part of all!!

questions for the supporters trust to ask the board
MacBandy replied to caley89's topic in Caley Thistle
Can't they get their current season ticket seats changed permanently? If they are not season ticket holders then they will have be first in the line to get the seats they want for the big games but that's not a major problem nor unreasonable is it? -

Am I missing something here? Nobody can stop you from buying the spare tickets iin Section G; of which there are many. Nobody can stop you from singing. Most people around you will join in and want to join in they just need your leadership. Those that don't like it can either move themselves but have (I say again) no option but to listen to you singing provided that...... You don't stand, dont swear (too much :023:), don't abuse them. Alright, you might have to sit down when told by stewards :018:, you might have the odd quiet one sitting around you but you already have a singing section...it is whereaver the singers sit!! Now..where should that be? Well we need others to follow your lead so it needs to be where it is most likely to catch on....Section G behind the goal. Can't see the problem lads...we have already got a singing section and it worked well last week. I was one of those nearby who joined in and appreciated your efforts. However, if you want a section where ONLY singers can sit, where you are allowed to stand all the time and where you can basically do what you want without any stewarding intervention you might be waiting forever or, best case, be miles away from anybody else. Whereupon you defeat your own objective. You singers are great, stay where you are doing what you are doing, just play the game. then they can't touch you for it..win/win. -
Sorry for starting a new topic but didn't want this to get lost in the IHE/Johndo debate. Regardless of the rights and wrongs of that one PLEASE don't give up on section G lads. I am an old fart with a young son a few rows in front of the 'new' singing section. The language isn't that bad and if I don't like it I can always move to the family section...that is what it is for. My son has been briefed that football is the one place I will not tell people around us to refrain from bad language as they get passionate about the game...they are supposed to! I sit behind the goal FOR the amosphere, traditionally in every club the world over behind the goals is where the passion and atmosphere is. You boys at the back of section G have AT LAST started to get some atmosphere in a ground that sorely needs it. I for one find it improves my Saturday afternoon and I know ALL the others around me agree (and for the first time they joined in the singing). People have every right to demand that they sit in the seat they have bought but not that you should be quiet! Did you notice how our subs warming up applauded your efforts? How often over the years are we told time and time again, by players, that fans can lift their performance? Regardless of the ins and outs and politics of it you are making a big improvement to the atmosphere at our club, improving the match day experience and in all probability making it, even if only in the minutist of ways, a better club to play for. You need to be behind the goal in the north stand, you need to be all together. You ARE appreciated and those few who might not will get used to you. Please STAY where you are and KEEP SINGING!!

You are right. Even "We are the famous ICT" was the radio version today with the swear word missing. Don't think it detracted in any way.
-
Was there today but not the Hibs game. Going by other posts etc for that one.
-
The answer to the first 2 questions today was a very definate yes!! Were you at the game IHE? The answer to the last question is apparently yes according to thise at the Hibs game as well!
-
Quite agree. I have every confidence in Mikey.
-
I am a few rows in front of you and I back you up, a few more around me were joining in than normal today. That bloke in about row H about seat 110 got things going in his area as well. Lets see if we can make it infectious.

"....anybody with a footballing brain...." thanks for the vote of conf IHE. Your point assumes that Nic plays as we expected him to. But if he plays like he did today...holding up and putting in perfect crosses/passes for others to score...many of which were suitable for a tall player then it might be an option nes pas?
