  1. This doesn't come under the category of glorious failure. There was no expectation here, just a whole lot of apprehension. We were holding the world chams to a draw and putting them under a lot of pressure, that in itself is a result. Losing another goal was not a surprise, not losing it would have been a surprise. Levein is new and folk should cut him a bit of slack. I think he has learned a whole heap from these last two games. Czechs will lose to Spain as will we. We must beat the minnows and beat Czechland to qualify, which I believe we can do, and so, I hope, does Graig.
  2. He was/is very fast. My abiding memory of Daisy is of him belting towards the corner flag leaving folk standing in his wake, and then running out of ideas when he got there. Great to watch.
  3. I would agree with this with the provider that Cox is being watched closely as he has Duff breathing down his neck. I am curious to see if TnJ will put Cox right back in. Judging by Duff's current form, I think Cox might be benchwarming. Also agree that Ross has come on leaps and bounds, but will never replace a fit Foran.
  4. Interesting to see that Scotty. But I thought there was something about simulation, by name, in there rather than the catch-all unsporting behaviour.
  5. Nothing wrong with positive thinking, and to be perfectly honest we have nothing to fear in the SPL with our current squad and team spirit. I seem to recall we were only just pipped for a top six spot by The Dons three years ago?? Scotty's probably best guy to confirm the stats. Aberdeen got in on 44 points that year, the runners up were Hearts on 42,Falkirk 41,and us on 36, 05 was our best, Well got in with 43 points and we were so close with 42 That was the one we were unbeaten with no goals conceded after the break. What a heartbreaker.
  6. This is correct. Foran is still not back to where he was, though Hayes fitness is improving. He kept going for the full 90 yesterday. Also a note for Rosco, as he seemed to have most of the flyballs covered. I too wil put my hand up and say that I didn't think the red was deserved, whilst it is not like Hayes to fake. I never saw a stamp and I was fairly close, looked like a tangle to me. Having said that, we would still have won, had they kept the 11. Rosco on the other hand probly desereved a red, just when Mr. Biro had said he had outgrown that kind of thing. I wonder will he be a marked man for the sheep as well as the Smirrens?
  7. Dons have a history of making bad decisions, and as you say sacking Tangoman was one of them. McGhee sounded like a right dick on the radio and his form is sackable, but it is still early in the season. If they are still underperforming by Xmas, he would get himself and evening express on Friday. I have no faults with anyone today, great performances throughout and a couple of great, if strange, goals. Have you ever seen a slower one than Rooney's? Best performances for me were Duncan, who was well up for it, and Eric, who hasn't had a duff game all season. They are building some momentum now, I hope the week off doesn't break it. Europe here we come.
  8. Thanks Darren, for your imagination, willingness to help and general keenness. Hope your replacement is as good. I am sure you will make a success of whatever you do. PS Darren did take over from the much maligned Mike Smith but also worked with him while in post.
  9. Not a totally doomed display today, but things will have to improve if we are to make any sort of impression. Duff was excellent, lots of good passes, solid in defeniding too. Not much to choose between him and Duncan, so good challenging stuff. Cox is erratic. He has played well this season. Am I the only one allowed to think that it has been a while since we have seen any consistent brilliance from Rooney. As for workrate, he doesn't track back, and doesn't tackle and can be slow getting forward. I would give him the benefit and say that when Foran return, properly he will pep it up a bit. Hayes also, a harder worker, suffers from 2nd half fade. Why he wasn't subbed is anyones guess. He could barely walk back by mid 2nd half. The problem is the defence, and a lack of a settled formation. Yesterday was a dogs brekko. Proctor for me, was particularly shy of having a go, as we know he can. Not a good choice. In conclusion, I would say, early days yet. Many of these players are new to SPL and will have to adjust. I think we will dp OK, but may have a few days like today. All part of life's rich pagaent.
  10. will be looking forward to seeing if he squares up to anyone will never forget the game against hibs when he squared up to Rob Jones..... one of the funniest things i have seen in a long time up there with the time JJ took a lump out of our dugout
  11. No idea of the exact date, but if we take the Millenium as starting with the SuperCaley moment, my membership was well in the Twentieth Century.
  12. Heard last night, from a chat with Coxy, that Richie is back at training this week. So it will be a couple of more weeks before he hits the pitch, a bit longer than we thought.
  13. Yes, I noticed that too. I assume he is smart enough to do something about it, when he thinks fit. But very solid. Just like Sheerin was.
  14. Ye gods, that 2nd half sounded like a bit of a stramash. 2 penalties, several sitters missed, but best of all that stupid offside chalking off a Hibs winner. I am looking forward to seeing that.
  15. John Robertson, with his "little bit of magic is all that's required". Maybe pick Harry Potter instead of Barry Robson then!
  16. Yep, I noticed that too. Not just marked by two but crowded into the touchline by them. Beating two defenders is commonplace for Hayes, but a bit of variety, and especially movement, at throw in time, would be a great thing.
  17. More attention = early departure.
  18. Gutless perfomance. It was Cox giving the ball away that gave Imrie the chance. After that Cox made cox-up after cox-up. Zero confidence game, and that may have been the largest part of the problem. Esson was still tying his shoe laces, so is less to blame. Hayes, and Rooney were marked out for most of the game, leaving Eric a bit of space, and I would have had him or Tokes, strong anywhere, as MOM. Duncan also back to his most lacadaisical, and Proctor needs to get stuck in. The high balls were not working and that was going to be the tactic for the 2nd half. Meat and drink to the bog bald lad, he could have done that all day. We have no plan B without Foran, and that will be ultimately what determines our success ths season. Imrie is a wee sh!te, yes, and he will get his comeuppance. We have what it takes to do Hamilton and others this season, but need to get the ship on a steady keel, especially at home. It was only one goal.
  19. Aye, he did enough in one minute to shut up the team for the other 89. What is it they say...suck it up! but rest assured, we will have our moment!
  20. As you suggest not too hard to believe, I've seen a few Row z efforts over the years. That said, his goal was the cream of the crop, I can't recall ever seeing one like that. Angle, distance, volley...that should be in anyone's round up. And as for those who say it was an accident. No. An accident is when the Titanic crashes into an iceberg.
  21. Yep. I hope that we can put on a show at home, not just as an away side, like the start of last season. Next Sat will be a grand time to add to the Hammies woes.
  22. 1 up at half-time against the Cup Winners. And we are worth it according to the radio men. Gotta like it
  23. Waay to keep the ball down! Who saw that coming? Certainly not the Arabs!
  24. Commentator just praised on the teams fitness. "Fit as butcher's dogs". Get his coat! Steven said, we should watch for the long ball, as we seem to have the midfield sorted.
