Matchday Thread Ross County -V- Inverness C.T.
Scarlet Pimple replied to Scotty's topic in Caley Thistle
IHE--Captain Scarlet, eh? Wow! Promotion and recognition at long last. Thank you Admiral Sir IHE. I must have spliced your main braces very well in our last Port of Call. Are they still holding up yer dungarees mun? Will this caricature of HMS Sneck disguised as a ferry take double decker buses though? One thing is certain--if it does, and we can get four on, if the thing sinks we will go down with Caley Thistle flags waving gaily in the breeze and a cheer on our blue and red lips.... Captain Scarlet?....YES!!! (It's the boy in me that keeps me young )- 81 replies

Should be first come first served. How will any official know whether a guy who doesn't have a stub had one or not at the first game? By allowing anyone in free of charge, at least they will get interested fans to, hopefully, pack the house. Atmosphere seems to be to be more important now than money. Or the boss can hire double decker buses to surround the ground for all those who can't get into the park. Great P. R. for County and a good time will be had by all, especially the fans in the upper level of the buses.- 81 replies

Kaiserslautern eh? I remember way back about the late "sixties" Hibs beat them handily 4-0 at Easter Road under the floodlights. Best goal I have ever seen from at least 40 yards scored by someone who looked like Eddie Turnbull--Bughtmaster will remember him; his era like? Unlike the County game, the atmosphere was not electric but the scoreline did light up my week......- 81 replies

The timing on the thread seems to have gone wonky also--it's now so many minutes "ago" instead of the actual time against each posting?- 81 replies

Eagle Lad, how long does the London train take to arrive in Inverness? And what is the return fare? Last time I came into Gatwick--worst airport in Britain I think,-- I was seated beside a top violinist on the Flybe plane who was on his way up to see the Duchess who lived in Cawdor castle near Forres where MacBeth holed up after he killed off King Duncan , for a posh garden party or something. He was quite an interesting old chap and I asked a lot of questions about his life. He then warmed up because he could see old Scarlet was a right down regular guy from the wilderness of West of the Canadian Rockies and if he dropped a name or two I might be suitably impressed. After I had oohed and ahhed once or twice he realised how brilliant old Scarlet was and we started to have a good time and, frankly, I was sorry to see him drift awa intae the nicht . The flight was only about an hour long and then we dropped down into the new I(for me) Inverness Airport but who, knows, maybe next time I might take the train and meet the Dowager herself. Cheers.

Damn Yankees .. DRUM CORPS/ American Style
Scarlet Pimple replied to Scarlet Pimple's topic in General Nonsense
Was thinking of getting them to fly over for a half-time show. Might bring in a few more punters...eh? -
Hi Folks Many of you probably have never seen, or even heard of Drum Corps, U.S. A. Well here it is --take your pick of the 4 outings featured here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3cYfDf4t6I&list=PLoV0Au6frsp-gPpGe4hZmur-6WOcJSSeP Comprised mostly of college or university or school bands it is very big in America, not in Canada as far as I know. What you will see here are the practices, called run-throughs, just prior to suiting up in their uniforms to march into the stadium for the Play-offs. At this point it's a big spectacle. The band in these pre-tourney practices are called the Academy and I notice that they were in the U.S. semi-finals in 2012......so you can judge for yourself how good they are. I just wonder how many hours they have to put in to get to this level of unison and skill. The players are very dedicated and are practicing here on outside lots (plots of land --usually referred to in North America as the piece of land that homes or buildings are placed upon). This is for your enjoyment so go for it. Comments please. Cheers, Scarlet

As in ice hockey in North America, there surely should be a video judge to rule on controversial incidents. The crowd rarely shows resentment against the decisions of the judges who sit up in their booth to view these incidents which are controversial or debateable. It's a fair and unbiased way of resolving hotly contested goals since there are two or three cameras focused directly on the goal lines etc,- 80 replies

Foran 's statements for sure are never going to put a player down, But he said a mouthful as well and you have to believe he believes in what he says. Like the good things he said I feel he is an honest, forthright , excellent player with loads of experience and frankly many a time an oft I have judged him to be the best player on the park. Then again a fat, round Pimple seeing only highlights can hardly be termed an expert--an excerpt, maybe but still only an overseas fan. Whee!

Sturdy looking lad .WOW! Congratulations to the new Canajin and to his Mum and Dad.

I wonder who it was then who was arson around on that day Charles? I must admit, many years later I did wonder about the whole thing. SHH! Whisper it .

Very impressive footage and scope. Super pictures in wide screen guys. Ross County just looked outclassed and no more need to be said. It just seemed to me that every time Caley Thistle started to move forward every forward knew where that ball was expected to go and were there when it arrived. Looks like Caley are a well-trained team technically and position-wise. Keep it coming .

Lots of Eagles over here too Eagle4Caley. Always idly circling round above the house...maybe 1000 feet above us. They are after the goshawks and when they spot one it's all hands to the pumps and hell for leather downwards at a great speed. Them little goshawks can surely fly too, frantically granted, but with spirit and a plan--get to the trees or else. One can only imagine the number of beats per minute their hearts are going at. Great sight. Your dedication has been mentioned in dispatches. All power to your elbow and your wallet. Caley Thistle needs you..

Bughtmaster I will contact you later. Did not like the video of the complicated operation named trabeculectomy. Too many things can go wrong I reckon. Don't worry about a trabeculoplasty. Totally free and totally painless.Painless holeing from the laser into the Iris maybe 70-80 shoots and it does work--increases drainage from the eye , thus reducing pressure. Reduced Scarlet's IOP (intra Ocular pressure) by a very significant number from 18/20 to 13.. Same with cataract surgery. Nice under local anaesthetic when you can look up and see parts of your eye being taken out. Ha! 15 minutes later you've got a new lens in there. But your pocket book is $400 less.. Sigh. Vitrectomy to remove the vitreous lining at the back of the eye where the macula is located. With age it can shrivel a wee bit and pucker, thus distorting the ability of the lining at the rear of the macula to go flat again. The macula is that spot at the back of the eye where the light focuses and then transmits that image to the brain via the optic nerve. By going flat it lessens the distortions but will NOT arrest the neo-vascularisation of the tiny new blood vessels behind the macula that are causing the problem. ARMD. Age Related Macular degeneration does the damage at the back of the eye and the N/Vascularisation tries to rejuvenate new veins which, in due course, break open because they are gentle and injury prone, and flood the area with fluid, thus pushing up on the macula which distorts the vision. The vitrectomy did not work in Scarlet's case but the operation itself was fascinating. Under local anaesthetic Scarlet was able to see despite having 4 instruments stuffed through the eyeball. Injections of Avastin do reduce the neo-vascularistaion though and in some cases can stop it. But Not in Scarlet's case. Peripheral Irridotomy: no real pain but you feel the laser bolt when it hits you -. THUMP . One in each eye.Opens up a hole in each Iris(the colored part) to improve drainage. and thus reduce pressure in the eyeball. Then these wee holes are there for a whiley--probably a few years. Eye pressure, if rising, reduces the ability of the body to deliver a sufficient supply oxygen to the retinal nerve which starts to die. Once dead it never can be rejuvenated. Therefore it does not deliver the image correctly to the brain and that is why images grow dim and it reduces peripheral (at the sides) image enormously and you can only see well through the centre of the eye until you eventually lose all vision in the eye. Not good for driving. This image is further compromised by the distortions presented to the retinal nerve by the distorted macula and so on and so forth. Now Dr Kevin has put Scarlet on a two- a -day drop regime of new drops to strengthen the retinal nerve. This is a new thing so let's see what develops. That's in addition to the drop- a -day of DuoTrav for pressure reduction. and control. We started off with Travatan Z but he thought maybe we should up the ante to DuoTrav which combines both a fluid which INCREASES the outflow off fluid from the eyball (better drainage) and REDUCES the inflow of fluid into the eyeball. So far so good. Talk to you later . Cheers SP

IHE, especially buses for guys with only one good eye! Like this gentleman who appears to have had a laser peripheral irridotomy in his left eye, a laser trabeculaplasty, four eye injections at $300 a pop, a vitrectomy, a cataract surgery at $400 a pop with one more to come -- and all under local anaesthetic ; fascinating stuff-- ; countless eye pressure tests together with countless OCT (optimal coherence tomography) tests and over 2000 eye drops already with no end in sight to the end of time. and for Scarlet when he comes to town....................

Right On Kirishima. Sounds like a real Hiroshima for the team then. I was thinking along the same lines as you and surmising from past reports about the possibility of a certain self-satisfaction having started up accompanied by a downturn in passion and commitment by this team in general terms. Success always brings complacency until the wake -up call arrives. In my case , in my past business, the wake -up call came and although it had not been too severe it still shook me when I realised that I had lost business but had not been able to go out and replace it as easily as in the past. The problem there is that often the initial momentum has either been downgraded or even lost completely . Then the struggle starts to find a way to regain lost ground--usually that means extra effort and commitment and complete elimination of complacency. Tough going for the inexperienced players since this scenario can sap one's confidence. I am commenting from the reports I have read but only the fans who actually have been attending the matches can pass an opinion on that viz-a-viz the current team. However, in the past there seems to have been a reluctance by our Manager to react swiftly and make even experimental changes in response to downturns or adversity like this and hopefully he will become more decisive.

Thanks Yngwie, Thanks for the new link to the webpage. I have found the problem now:- After checking set up, connections. etc., I tried clicking the button at the foot of the video display page to the right of the triangular start button , more or less to see what it meant. Lo and behold it was the mute button and it had been activated; obviously I had meant to hit the triangular start button instead on a video a couple of days previously. What I didn't know was that the ICT videos have their own set of start, mute, etc, buttons separate from all other video playbacks on the internet so it was mysterious why I could play other videos but not that of ICT. Makes perfect sense but senior moments are always lurking these days. Sigh. Many thanks for your assistance -
I've made a point of watching women's International matches here in the wild west. Teams like Mexico, U.S. and Canada and so on have some very good footballers that would do credit to many a men's team. And one thing I do like about it is the fact that there is a lot less histrionics, diving and deliberately rough play. AND these ladies are very fit too, athletic and have a lot of skill. Frankly, for anyone who loves the game of soccer you could do a LOT worse than to watch a good international match on the T.V. Check out the Olympics as well--they are usually very competitive and skilful. As for Mr T. Cowan.....Neanderthal, retrograde and desperate to be controversial . No self-respecting journalist would think of writing such filthy, puerile and ill-informed stuff in any form of public communication newspaper, IMHO at least. And not our very own Chas for sure.

Incredible! IHE. Whether you are fishing for compliments or not here they are. And Fraz, he was called that because in them thar days that was what the local residents called him or onion sellers. . Mind you he travelled all over England as well, on his trusty bike I assume or maybe he loaded the bike into the van along with the onions. His name was Andre Chapalain and if you look at the bottom of the photo you can just make out this name. Very nice fellow though. Came from Brittany or Normandy. Station Square--looks like these buildings needed a good power-washing?..and the cobble stones are no doubt all gone? How did the battle with Ivan the Terrible turn out and did he wear a kilt as well to confuse you?

In the last couple of days I am not getting any audio with the download. I could only see the video. Today access is denied completely with the explanation that there has been a serious error in or with the website. I this because of maintenance perhaps? S.P.
