Hypothetically, yes! Glad to see IHE is back on track now. That staid stuff could get to be a habit. Ha! Ha!

Och! This is just one of IHE's trial BALLOONS. His post really was meant to read loyal and DERIGIBLE service not loyal and diligible service. And just look at the number of posters who bit?

Anything can happen in football but if that happened it would be a disaster--for Terry , not Caley Thistle. I think his patience would run out and he would lose his rag more quickly than ever before. Very sad downward slide for a once great footballing side. Verdict?--no chance of that happening.

I am getting seriously concerned about IHE --his posts on here recently have become solid, staid, and filled with too much undramatic common sense so what's going on here? The cloak of Regularism does not fit on this avid supporter very well, hides his true personality and I think he is entering either his dotage or is in some form of decline. Wheest!!! Anybody else as concerned as I am?

Tansey seems to be the ticket--why not play him in a centre-half role to see how versatile he actually could be, put Tokely in at right back temporarily until the new Swiss lad gets parked there and move Proctor right up field, say as an out and out right winger. Then tell him to run at the defences constantly to draw their defence out of the middle to allow Tade to also scare the pants off them by running at the defences in the middle. This will at least hopefully keep the ball in their half where it cant do any danger and maybe a lurking Hayes canthen do the business ? At least Proctor gets out of the cauldron where he should never be forced to play at all and has a chance to show his usefulness away from danger and we all remember the good work he did for ICT in the past instead of constantly berating the poor fella.....eh? So, I may not exactly be on the ball but ah'm tinking, ah'm tinking.
-
I agree with Manfer, let's getr off Proctor's case. He did well in the past and should not be playing ithe right back position anyway. Obviously. if he is not comfortable in that position then Terry should not surely be playing him there.

I have been watching football for a long time. The refs have always been the target of shouting and the fans' displeasure. Only rarely have I heard any fan shout out .."great decision, ref". ! I used to clap smart decisions by them but not too many people would ever do that as I recall, more's the pity. The above post is definitely a good one. We have to cut slack for these folks; although I do agree that at the current salary levels now mooted or agreed upon, they should become full time and undergo training and reviews on a regular basis, not to put them down or to reduce their confidence level but to strengthen their understanding and improve their performance. All aspects of this type of training should be fuly supported by all persons in the game., including players who often are the sole source of the troubles refs have to face by diving and initiating professional fouls . If we could stamp out the is type of action by players the game would be abetter to watch, anyway. Years ago, say around the 1960's, there were quite a few ref "characters" in the A Division of Scottish Football. One of these whom I will never forget was one, J R P Gordon of Newport on Tay, who was an extraordinary fellow. J R P made as many mistakes, some rather farcical, against the opposition as well as against the home team so all evened itself out at the end of the day. His physical style of dominating the game included not quite keeping up with thwe play and when he detected an infringement he would race at full tilt to the spot where the alleged offence occurred all the while with his body bent forward at a distinct angle and with his arm out at full length pointing to that spot. This made for stirring theatrics almost like his whistle was a bugel anf he was charging forward on horseback with the Light Brigade with his sword way out in front of him. Amusing as all this was nobody seemed to hate the guy; in fact you could not but like him because he was so human and of course it was palpably obvious that JRP was always doing HIS best to be fair. And the word "diving" had not yet entered the dictionary in these days. So, the bottom line is, IMHO, that if we are going to shout dog's abuse at refs then we must take some of the load off their shoulders about taking responsibility for all the decisions in these highly technical and emotion-charged days. i.e we MUST introduce video technology along the goalmouth lines, etc., so that he /she can consult the images or, as in North American ice hockey, let the judges make instantaneous judgements in the booth upstairs based on their review of the video on controversial incidents. For me , this is a no-brainer and why this has not yet been implementeed is astonishing.

Alex , you are a funny guy. Ha, Ha. Ha! The shirt is the only resemblance. Ha! Ha! Give me a green dot for my efforts. Ha!

Vancouver Whitecaps played Manchester City in the city two nights ago. It cost the club over $200,000 to LAY TURF ON TOP OF THE PLASTIC PITCH. There was torrential rain in the morning and afternoon and loads of chaps were out with squeegees pushing the water off the pitch as best they could. They did lay a tarp beneath the top turf but that only added to the moisture. However, the sun came out , there was about 25,000 folks came to the game and the atmosphere was great. Vancouver scored a bit of a flukey goal first and for long spells hadtcomplete possession of the ball. After half time, however, Man C started to get serious and a well-worked goal brought them even . Shaun Wright Phillips was the man of the match and won the game for them with electrifying runs and an absolute cracker of a goal from at least 33.2 yards that Jolly, our goalie, simply could not get to. Everybody had a ball but the visitors looked not quite fully fit and obviously saw this game as a warm up and nothing else. They are off to play L A Galaxy I think next. They had many first team players out at Empire Field and Vancouver also seems to have a lot of good players in reserve so maybe next year they will be much better. The weather here is the absolute opposite of what Toronto is experiencing --continuous cold and rainy every blinking day. Me bones are really aching with all this water which never seems to stop. Last week the mighty Fraser river was getting to alarming heights but has now subsided and we hopee the danger of flooding has passed. The depths of this river appear to vary quite a bit but in the areas where it is recorded its about twenty feet . A year ago at least, the salmon run was the biggest for years being over 20 million fish. The year before it was more like 4 million. The fish go out from their birthplace upstream into the Pacific ocean and come back to spawn at tehir original birthplace about every 4-5 years. The Adams river which I understand is a tributary of the Fraser way up in the North of B.C. has the largest salmon run in the world. At Steveston fishing village very close by there once was a salmon cannery which was the largest in the British Empire and probably in the world but the gradual decline in fish eventually took it's toll and now it is just a museum.

And to think it all started when we commenced to ask for online video reports of the games. I love the videos but Twitter is a page too far for me. Back through my portal then to my time warp. Just goes to show it never hurts to ask if you phrase it politely. Plant the seed and big oaks from little acorns grow.

We have gone through this before and all I pin my hopes on for the future is that we avoid relegation this term. Inexperience and gelling quickly?????????

Shoot! Scotty, you seem to have alot of spare time on your hands these days to be so interested in these two poorly-performing Canadian teams. I regret to advise that Vancouver's results have fallen off the map and so has my relative interest. To be truthful I did see them a week or so ago on the telly and they were unlucky to lose by one goal. If they do not turn things around soon the only thing that this season will be remembered for will be the great crowds that have been showing up through the turnstyles. But the news of Terry Dunfield's departure has stunned me. An Englander and ---apparently--completely committed to Vancouver with a great stirring opening game, he seemed to be the man of the moment and had a bright future with Fanny Couver. Oh well, he will probably do well in Toronto. De Rosario sure did not last long in your city, though, did he? Vancouver 's problem? The spirit with which they opened the season seems to have evaporated .This is reflected in their lack of dash going forward and a very irritating propensity of the defence to either pass it across from one back to And I don't think that the transfer in of one outstanding player is enough by any means. To be frank, Scotty, I am getting the distinct impression that there is far too much empkhasis on the business side of the MLS and not enough emphasis on the spiritual side. This team lacks the heart to succeed in the short term. Hope I am wrong.

I tend to agree with Alex MacLeod's summation. Terry and Mo will wait until the team is flying high so that their financial arrangements may be reviewed in a very positive light. But that depends upon when their contracts expire naturally.

Smee--why disguiose anything? There is far too much subterfuge and dishonest crap in society already which generally leads to either misunderstanding or mayhem. So we have a "professional foul" now which appears to be quite acceptable despite the fact that it is unfair, stops the game unnecessarily and is plain and simple cheating. A PF is a deliberate attempt to hinder the opposition from benefiting fron honest endeavour and skill or to stop a legitimate scoring attempt and stifles initiative. In brief, it is un-professional and does not allow the separation of the wheat from the chaffe. If I criticise you roundly (which I am not doing here, by the way) you are welcome to reply really robustly provided it is re-actively relevant.

Well, let's hope it is not a testy exchange.

We all have to rue the day and learn from our mistakes so let's be cautious about how critical we are about him. If Terry thought he could sign him and both parties were in harmonywith an understanding agreed upon about the issues involved (i.e without acrimony) I would suggest that he could do a good job for us.

Good..so everybody pitchjed in and all's well that ends well.

I worked, i.e. slaved, for the Royal Bank of Scotland for 19 years and when they would not promote me to a position which I deserved on merit and accomplishments, telling me politely that I had to wait for dead mens' shoes, I accepted an offer to join the Toronto Dominion Bank who were willing to pay my moving costs, hotel for one month, help with a car loan and a mortgage for a home shortly afterwards --and never looked back. Of course there were hiccups on the road up the ladder of advancement subsequently, in both the TD and in other employment, but on balance the freedom of choice and movement between ANY career or profession that Canada offers was well worth it . And the experience of emigrating and succeeding in the face of oten very difficult obstacles was both challenging and satisfying. So you cannot stand in the way of anyone trying to better themselves so long as they have met their contractual obligations. Football can also be a short enough career and what happens to a washed-up player --does the club pay him a lifetime pension thereafter. VERY unlikely. For Duff I daresay it is not about loyalty since he is no longer contracted to ICT ...correct? So where is the beef? If he takes the chance on losing a job with ICT who is the one to suffer anyway --certainly not ICT . So why don't we just wait and see and wish him well--it cannot be easy being ouit of work as a footballer. It's sh..te in any other jopb I can assure you, especially if you have mouths at home to feed.
-
Liecester has been coming to ICT (i.e Caledonian F C) for a long time so it looks as if we should continue to be nice to them. I can heave a sigh of relief at the news of Diligent Doran signing on the bottom line.Team now shaping up to be something...

Hate to be a naysayer but I agreed with Buckett's earlier post and reserve judgement. The youngsters we have brought in may be good footballers and have great potential under the right coach but the season is nearay upon us and is this a settled team or what? I think it is rather too early for Terry to be be so aggressive in making such radical changes so quickly. Still, good luck Mr T.

Thank goodness Tuffey was in form and had a good workout.

Well maybe the answer to all this nonsense is to get rid of the red dot-green dot stuff completely. Opionions no doubt differ but I really fail to see the use of them apart from stirring up more controversy perhaps. The green ones feel good and the recipients of the red ones feel. Since we all have th right to post what we like , provided it is within the rules, then can't a person just say honestly that they don't care for a post of have a different opinion on the subject without all this sly stuff. We all got on fine for years and got along with a lot more humour before the mantra "Keep it Simple Sam"" became not enough for the modern scene which seeks to provide so many options for every single thing that one does that one needs a huge Manual to access a web site , or buy a new telly or a new computer these days. Now please give me a dot so that I can check myself out.OOOOOOOH! :werenotworthy:

IHE --there is no rain in the Emirates . Sniff.
