People want to savour a win and the good feelings last for days. But a draw seems little more than a wishy- washy performance and maybe the team got lucky?. People want to see more goals too. I think.

Caman is right. Summer football will save the team and others. So what's stopping the Beaks from at least trying the changeover? Are they inflexible ? Are they stuck in the mud of their dotage.? Why? It benefits everyone. The players, the staff, and the crowds can relax and bring the weans . Otherwise where are the future ICT fans going to come from? Only IHE is immortal so if the weans are not introduced at an early date then what is going to keep them . ? They HAVE to get the bug. Over and out.

Got it! Thanks

Depends on whether I am drunk or sober, I suppose, Gregor.? But you are right ...it's not as bad as the Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team results so far. They do have some good players but other factors take a toll too. e.g. bad injuries, rookies not doing what they should and therefore achieving less than they otherwise might be able to achieve, etc, despite their obvious and sometimes electrifying talent. When a Manager decides to make a wholesale change in the type of personnel he starts with you can be sure there is bound to be teething troubles from the get--go. And yet at that stage of the process he is on a hiding to nothing because if he sits and does nothing then nothing is likely to change. And if he makes all the changes he needs too quickly he must know that it will take time to rebuild a team,,,,,,.

QUESTIONS / OBSERVATIONS TO THE BOARD
Scarlet Pimple replied to IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER's topic in Caley Thistle
Och! I'm only teasing you, old chap. "'cos I know you love it and can tease right back in spades. By the way, How does one speak Canajin, like? Believe it or not the purer the accents become going from the Deep South of the USA up to, and through, Canada. And a lot more interesting as well. Now, back to business. That wannabee Canajin that you mention sounds like quite a guy. Stick with him and live and learn, I say. -
BDU Unfortunately the Ronaldo's of this world are very hard to find at the price we can afford. and J R will have his hands full in improving results I am afraid. It's like the Vancouver Canuck-another terrible start to the season despite declaring the club's intention to go with youth and greater speed etc, . Yawn !!!!!!! I will believe it when it happens. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. And, Frank Kelly speaking, I don't think there is a desire to spend money because I also don't think it is available at this time So....whew!

QUESTIONS / OBSERVATIONS TO THE BOARD
Scarlet Pimple replied to IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER's topic in Caley Thistle
IHE Wot's yu got against Canajins, eh? Be nice now and I'll send you an Eskimo's fur coat for yer Christmas. That will allow you to attend more matches in the freezing cold of a Scottish Winter. Once you have mastered the art of wrapping yourself in Polar Bear fur I'll send you a racing sledge so you can entertain the troops at half times. The huskies might prove to be a problem though. When they think the signal to mush is about to be given they howl and yelp as if their mother had just hoven over the horizon with a couple of baby seals in her pouch. It's gonna be fun Itchy.. If you win the Iditirod big race I'll help you to celebrate by holding your winnings in custody. I wouldn't trust them thar Mounties though. They will remand you in custard at the slightest twitch of yer bunnet. Especially if yer drunk and incapable., like. Aye.......O.K. Mush, mush boys. We're off. Wheeeeeee! Aye, mun, wha's like us, eh? -
Ale & Arty = hale and hearty.

The grass is always greener over the fence, John,. But if you can get the team promoted this season your stock will be so high that you will probably be able to demand your own salary level with ease. But, John, since you are doing well in your present berth why not JUST STAY and solidify your position with Caley Thistle. This will not upset anybody's apple cart and will abundantly confirm your expertise and great man-management. After that the world will be your oyster. !

Inverness Royal Academy of Olde
Scarlet Pimple replied to IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER's topic in Olde Inverness
Just read the whole thread again to fill in some time and , again, some great flashbacks. What a great 2 hours or so that was too. So many memories ! Farr it was for me at the Inverness Royal Academy and Raigmore for my sister , Daphne, who is 3 years older than I am. Strangely enough both of us went into the Bank right after completion of schooling.....her to the Commercial Bank and me to the Royal Bank. She stayed in Inverness but eventually I moved on to Canada. However, the old memories can't be denied and it's like watching a newsreel unfolding in front of your eyes. Thanks to all of you who have posted on this great thread.. If any of you want some more insights about Canada don't hesitate to get into touch with me. Like every person and country there is great, good and maybe not so great things. Into the latter category I put Politics and the current price of houses, which, in the Vancouver area at least, have doubled or even tripled in the last few years. So house prices have started to drop because no one can afford them on the standard wages. And Many people are fleeing Vancouver to reside in the suburbs like I had to do a few years ago. I live in Maple Ridge which is about 45 miles due East from Vancouver as the crow flies above the Freeway. Unfortunately, gasoline prices in this area just happen to be the highest in all of North America, partially due to the fact that British Columbia does not want any more pipelines going through this Province and the big oil companies situated East of here have retaliated by hiking their prices. Countering that are the many huge advantages offered to a willing partner. Getting ahead is NOT so difficult but getting fired outright can be an unwelcome surprise. You know the race is supposed to go to the swift but here I would say that the benefits come to the determined & resourceful.....AFTER careful planning, of course. -
Snorbens I told you the gentleman had style. Wow ...and what a solution. Everybody was happy. Yes! For me, a name that will not live in infamy ..but simply in my mind and heart. It's a funny old world isn't it, really?
-
Yep! IHE. Mighty trees from little acorns grow. Imagine that team being the precursor to Caley winning the Scottish cup. It's almost unbelievable isn't it? BUT, as I look back and get really nostalgic, I only remember that these teams through my very young, starry eyes (maybe 13 to 14 years old), were the best in Scotland.
-
Snorbens Well, I am glad that I went this far back on this post today because one of my longings over the years was to be able to look at J R P Gordon's face because it brought back some quite vivid memories. I remember him at a Hibs match at Easter road when I lived in Edinburgh a long time ago As soon as his name was announced my interest pricked up since he had a most distinct style of moving that I never forgot. When he blew for a foul he would race at top speed to the point of the indiscretion with the top part of his body pushed well forward and his legs turning ferociously as if his life depended on it. At the same time his arm with the whistle suspended on the end of it was also pointed forward at the same spot, until he arrived, just like a spear that was on a mission which brooked no challenge. It truly was a sight for sore eyes and he left no doubt in your mind, whether you liked it or not, that that WAS a foul. And I don't ever recall a player arguing the toss with JRP. I never forgot his name nor the place associated with it (Newport on Tay) and there is no doubt that he was synonymous with character and entertainment. I never questioned his judgements because (a). it was pointless , and (b). no one would have shared your view anyway because who could not like him, the man had such verve and style.

I am happy to do that for you Kingsmills. My apologies for going off topic. Anyway, since Laurence won't ever address me by name you can get my drift as to why I bothered to jump in. Laurence, you may have mentioned what you state on this Forum, but I NEVER received any reply directly from you.Enough! It's finished. Back to the topic.

March 7 is my birthday! Maybe I was inebriated ? Laugh.
Nice to know that somebody cares though. And thanks for the positive response. Dispel the negative and embrace the positive.

Well, , Laurence, considering your dedication to, and love for, selling books in Scotland it seems to be somewhat at odds with the experience I had when I contacted you requesting you to show our (my wife and I) )book..."Destinies in Motion"... on your shelves. You ignored my contact completely and did not even acknowledge it. A valid reason for not doing so would have sufficed. But for you to choose to respond thus was hardly APPROPRIATE was it? Especially from an ICT buddy. Oh and by the way , my Dad, when he was alive, was born in Yorkshire and my exposure to folks from that area made me feel very good about their gracious respect, sense of humour and all round kindness and good manners. Over to you...….. from a now blunt Canajin

Oh IHE, you are awful,...... but I like you.

I'm impressed by the way this new team is playing. Impressive So fast and great footie. Young team and so clever to boot. The modern game seems to have changed radically since I last watched them in person...and, by the way, that was not that long ago. Smile.

Goodness. This reminds me that I used to play derbs (or was it durbs) in the Central school playground a long time ago after 4 p.m. Does that count?

As Monsieur Trump has found out , continuance of dialogue is the only way to hash out a viable compromise when conflicting factions and interests clash. Right now, Canada and the U.S. (Under Trump) seem to be nearly at the breaking point regarding trade relations etc. and unless he adopts what I am talking about (continuous dialogue) it could result in a bleak trade situation.....for BOTH countries. So, continuing contact and diplomatic dialogue appears to be the preferable option. Right now, the expression (heated or otherwise) of any hurt feelings that might currently arise might stand in the way of progress. Why? Because the club is the stronger party and , as one former employee of mine once told me when I fired him for negligence a long time ago, "You will get more with honey that with vinegar!" Currently "The Donald" (ours, not the U.S.s) seems to be doing well and is on the right track. "Enough said, soonest mended." Och Aye!

DERBY RETURN MATCH FOR OVERSEAS SUPPORTERS (Ross county)
Scarlet Pimple replied to TRANMERE33's topic in Caley Thistle
True fan and no mistake. I wish I could have gone to the match also. -

It seems as if you are saying that he deliberately did not sub players because he felt comfortable with the situation and expected a draw would be the outcome and reasonable from his point of view. Well, he's the boss, so it may be a question of whether it was a 6 or half a dozen that mattered?. ?

Matchday Thread Ross County -V- Inverness CT
Scarlet Pimple replied to Scotty's topic in Caley Thistle
Both goalies were great!. They were mostly to blame for the lack of goals. Great atmosphere and a very entertaining video. Finding Joh Robertson's comments after the match was difficult for me but I managed it. For those of us who are older, thought to be decrepit and no longer "with it" as it were, posting comments like J R's on the actual match thread would be greatly appreciated. Why? because we oldies don't have a Twitter account , nor Facebook account and probably for the most party don't even have a cell phone. Just a polite request/plea for a more regular approach to disseminating the highlights and post match comments etc. Thank you. Otherwise, that was a great game of football and also the atmosphere was terrific. When the stadium is full like that it sure makes a difference doesn't it? Cheers, S.P.- 61 replies
