  1. He didn't fit in so I suppose that's the end of that story and he is no longer at our beck and call.
  2. Willie Collum. Well at least our team will get as many fouls in our favour as the other team. Should work out quite well...…?
  3. Overly vigor-ous tackling no doubt? Does anyone know the origin of the name VIGURS ?...……... Norwegian? German? It'll save me Googling it....
  4. Great! Now, I hope complacency does not arrive on the scene. However with John Robertson in charge I doubt that. Well done that man and his lads. Top of the league, eh? My! My! Who would have thunk it before the season started?
  5. Oddquine. I have a feeling that in due course other folks who also want to parade will also join the group -- not to draw attention to themselves as exclusive human beings but just for the gaiety and fun of it all. More bands will be attracted and want to march as well and it will simply turn into a festival of diversity, colour and congeniality relating to the different aspects of the human race. A merging of minds, moods and maybe general monkeying around like people in olden days used to dance round the maypole. Sounds like a lot of fun to me...….
  6. Well, IHE, there are a few head-cases to choose from on this site so fire away old chap!. I qualify and so would be happy to be I/C the gang......
  7. Except when I was self-employed and running my own business miles away from where I lived. The phones then were just arriving and I had a huge , brick-like one of the originals which I strapped it to my belt and it was rarely used. I was once running late for an appointment at a woman client's house and as I was turning the corner into her street at approx. 11.03a.m. , when my appointment time was 11 a.m., and the of my van and one on the black brick, "I am just turning the corner and will be there in a couple of minutes...." Yes, clients! You either love 'em,, hate 'em or just sigh and accept your fate--after all, you have to eat.....>
  8. I have never had a phone. Does that count? New fads don't turn my crank unless I see a real use of them for me. Now I am retired, of course, much of my time is spent inside the home or going out to dine, etc, so I really don't need any such contact devices since my companions invariably seem to have a phone parked in their handbag or in their back pocket . And using a phone whilst driving will get you pulled over and fined heavily so ….what's next?
  9. Finally I have broken down. Why? Because there are so many moans and groans about what the Board is not doing but rarely is there a mention from the moaner(s) about contacting the Board. Now IHE seems to want to pursue this and has asked for input--the question is.how many moaning posters have contacted him in response to his requests for input that he intends to parcel up and hand over to the Board? Please remember. IMHO they are also newbies at their job and probably need stuff to be brought to their attention before they can, or want to, act. But if you want to just moan but can't be bothered to put stuff in a note to IHE how do you think that helps?
  10. Thank goodness for neutrality, I say. In Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada there is a LGBt parade down the main street downtown once per year. It's a really gay event (using the correct meaning of the original word) and accompanying the parade is a band and countless streamers, people in all kinds of costumes etc , etc. Frankly, this parade has become a must see for a lots of folk and , if I did not live quite a long way out of town myself, I would not mind going downtown to see all the colour,. pomp and incredible costumes. Apparently it's something else. And thousands of people attend every year, packing the sidewalks --- the pavements for youse yins. Apart from our Indigenous peoples, Canada is a place where everybody has come from somewhere , or are the descendants of immigrants in the past and most smart people view a "newbie" as someone of interest and with whom to easily strike up a conversation. If you are really interested in people and could not care less about where they come from you will get along and do just fine in this very large country.. Before he sold his home one of my friends was a huge black guy named Anthony and he was a person of simple manners but smart enough to have been able to buy two houses since his arrival in Canada. We often had great chats and I found him to be engaging and interesting. I think that in Africa people have open doors all day because he thought nothing of walking in my front door, coming up the stairs and walking into one of our bedrooms where he heard conversations going on. Now THAT brought a smile to my so - called sophisticated visage . Prejudices seem to fade as time goes along and so whether you are black, white, pink or kaki is of no concern to me . What matters is that you try to get along. So, personally, curiosity about the LGBT parade is the main feeling I have at this time. It's such a huge event here in Vancouver , annually, that everybody (including businesses) seems to benefit from it and, seemingly, everybody goes downtown just to have a good time and be goggle- eyed at looking at the variety of costumes, colour and bands etc. - - oh, and it's not just about gay people , many other groups join in and participate. Meaning? Well, from my point of view it's ….wait for it.....about accepting people for what they are without them being stereotyped, put-down, hurt or shunned. In the Deep South of America prejudice against black folk still remains but the majority of people in America proper are sane enough to get along with everybody else, regardless of colour or creed.
  11. Some sensible posters In this thread now. Keep going IHE. You are definitely on the right track. Decline the negative comments and put forward the positive suggestions worded in such a way that any comments by the Board to the contrary will make the Board sound negative and disinterested in making improvements. Thus, the Board will have difficulty ignoring them. And then get names to offer to assist with the implementation of remedies. Then, the kicker, tell the Board that the submission AND their replies will be printed in the paper and on here. It's at that point that they sit up and pay attention and realise that they must deal with the disaffected as well as the fans who show up regardless of their having real complaints and maybe some Board members may have to change their nappies. That should elicit at least an attempt by them to answer the questions. I mean, this is serious business and should go right to the nub in order to enhance fan support. As to car park lights --the installation of a motion sensor attached to one bright light spreading the light over a wide area would probably do the trick and at a very low cost. Two birdies with one stone, like. Let's not make smart Alec jokes about Richie. That's below the belt and he won't find it funny. The man paid a high price and so perhaps we can just leave his name out of such comments. Please remember that he was a long time servant of the club .Thanks.
  12. is plain and the rain falls mainly in the plain in Spain. Smile
  13. Was there any relationship to/with someone named Gandy Main about whom I heard many references but was never able to find out who he was or what connection, if any, he had to Caley?
  14. Caley Boy--you are probably right about the desire of English teams feelings towards Rangers and Celtic,. So, in effect, you are saying that they would not fit into their Leagues either? My humble opinion is that there would have to be drastic changes in the British attitude to football before they ever did get close to playing in both England. Unfortunately, Rangers have sunk in quality and attitude and many teams in the English premier League could beat them handily. Celtic, well, IMHO, that's a different matter really and they could hold their own quite well down South and be a very attractive addition to their League, in general terms that is. If Caley Thistle can beat them in the Semi Final of the Scottish cup and show that, at the end of the game, Celtic were unable to cope with them and really just gave up then that's not a very flattering scenario for them is it?
