  1. Not the Velox but IHE's one could be very close. Just that I don't remember the small rear window being there. The flutes look very close in my memory though. But I don't remember the ridge along the top of the bonnet? What year would you think it was IHE?
  2. What an impressive team record ! And therefore it is very sad that the either uninformed, or complacent, Directors of our club do not have the foresight to continue motivating this team of outright winners by making an effort to congratulate them as much as possible IN PUBLIC. Frankly, to me the lack of it is, if true as described, just sickening. A very good start would be to commence by posting a congratulatory and praising thread here on this site. That would at least show the young boys how much the upper echelons of the club appreciates them -- and encourages our punters to keep on keeping on. You know , on the presumption that the Directors either individually or collectively are astute businesspersons, how do they think they can help the club make substantial progress and put bums on seats unless they, at the very least, praise and promote the youngsters. These young men are our future for goodness sake. The ignorance here, and frankly that seems be what exists, is mind-blowing. As business owners do they not advertise their wares or do they assume that the heavenly light surrounding their halos can be seen for miles and therefore since all roads lead to Rome their business success is already guaranteed. By publicly showing deserved praise to the boys and their families they will be seen to be offering top-line encouragement, making friends and influencing people. They are also promoting their own interests bi-laterally since we presume they have at least a smattering of interest in the local community and by publicly praising this young and inspiring team of lads they show how much they do care about the team's progress. Sitting in an ivory tower does a little for the polishing of THEIR ego but virtually nothing for the promotion and recognition of the young team's hard work and achievements. Not to mention the obvious lack of direct and connecting interest of the future of this fine club. Shame on the Directors of this club for their lack of interest and insights.
  3. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/scottish-championship/table Interesting viewing! It's surprising, in view of the limited number of wins that ICT has, how far up the table we are. Comments?
  4. This is a large thread so I'll keep this brief. Summer football...yes. But whatever you choose, day or night , at least you can experiment with the hours but the physical weather conditions would probably not alter that much. However, with global warming being a definite "yes, " then these weather conditions might change radically and, therefore, would an an afternoon venue in this case not be preferable?
  5. Snorbens. Hullo!. The one on the left is coming much closer and is very close to the one I remember. But my memory is now my worst enemy. Thank you very much for your efforts. What year? Dunno, but in the 1940's I Presume. I mean I was old enough to be allowed to drive it and I must have been between 17 and 18 , that being between 1955 and 1956. Flutes on these vehicles are fine and fit the bill. Top speed of this car likely to be between 80=-85 mph Max. I know, at the urgings of the two nut-case farmers I was with for me to go faster and faster, I ….obliged and noted that I was doing about 75 in a country road near Forfar which was faster than I had ever driven before so we were having a good time. Ha Ha.
  6. Wow>! A Welsh wizard with words. If they are sincere, however, that's a big compliment , as I read it , to ICT . Sp thank you OFW.
  7. How old is he?
  8. Oh dear. I'm afraid these last three don't square with my memory. They also don't have bonnet flutes on their sides. The bonnets did not havethe lights at a level above them either. Another make perhaps?
  9. Am I imagining this or does the team have quite good control so long as the ball stays on the deck, but lobbing in high balls seems to not be skilled enough yet. They can score from corners but they should keep the ball on the turf to really penetrate the defences?
  10. Yes,. It's great to see that a few dedicated punters are following our under-18 team closely. They will be our replacements in the future for our wounded or dying Ist team soldiers. So they need support and encouragement. Sounds like quite a team , to date..
  11. Nope. Neither of these , IBM. These two cars are more rounded altogether and .more stylish. The one Dad had was a stronger looking vehicle and possibly had a more flat back as much as anything. Also, whereas these flutes that you show are very curved and seem to sink into the front bonnets of these cars, our one had very straight and streamlined ones on the outer edges of the bonnet. Also I don't recall the metal strips on the side doors, not like that on ours. Can you show the Cresta and the Velox perhaps? No need to go out of your way to find them, however, We are just reminiscing. Oh joy?
  12. As for commenting upon this topic yes, we do live out of Scotland, but maybe we are also seeing things from a more dispassionate (i.e more pragmatic) viewpoint. Otherwise it seems as if we in Scotland will always be kow-towing to the Europeans and living by their rules (which are frankly really archaic). By switching to Summer football all the advantages recognised by the U.S and Canadian teams will be adopted, the terracing will be fuller with more spectators going to matches, ice creams can be consumed by standing spectators which one would never do in the Winter ) and so on. And the experience of going to an event is much more pleasant. Weather is more predictable also, Etc.
  13. So what's your direct connection to Inverness and ICT in particular Caley Canary?
  14. Thanks IBM. That's about dead right. How did I remember the number on the plate? Well, some things are indelibly printed on our minds because they mean so much to us and, since I was born in 1938, that plate must have intrigued me greatly as I looked upon this shining wonder of transport with something akin to awe.(Dad used to keep it very clean and highly polished-- all done inside the garage he rented on Grant street just before the Black Bridge.) It was good on gas (petrol) but the top speed was not significant. I remember once, on our way down to England, a queue was forming behind us and I asked him to speed up and he said nothing much. I was only a wee boy and I suppose could be ignored with ease. I think my desire for more speed could have been as much for a thrill than for accommodating the probably frustrated following drivers.... although I admit that I felt for them. But Dad moved on too. He had a Ford Prefect, then a car with silver flutes along the sides of the bonnet (IBM what was the name of that car was it a Vauxhall? I remember the name Viva also in our house. Connection?
  15. IBM...Could you please get the details of an Austin 8 which I think was my father's first car bought in Inverness. The number plate was AST 564. ?
  16. And we still have John Robertson. Lang may yer lum reek, John...……... Yes!
  17. Just get a small delegation going and ask for a meeting. If not , why not? The Board must see you in person and judge whether or not your thoughts and comments are meritorious (to their ears) or not. AND carry a list of these arguments that you can leave with them. Then they have to reply specifically .. either at the meeting or shortly thereafter in writing. Ask for this. Dress up nicely and be polite but persistent and prepare your arguments against tedious rebuttal. Then they will see you mean business. Finally, ask for a response(written) within a specified time frame. You have to meet them in person and put their feet (politely) to the fire. Make sure all 3 or 4 -or 5 of you agree on the details of your presentation so no slip-ups occur during the meeting. Or, IMHO, alternatively, small talk ourselves into the distant future. This thread now needs to act or close.
  18. Vyshinski, Vysyshinski with a hyphen. Mine's whisky, whisky with a siphon, what's yours?
  19. Is Nick Ross's career coming to a close? The answer to that is all we need to know at this time. BUT IT DOES NOT LOOK AS IF HE HAS ANY INTEREST IN REJOINING ICT IN THE NEAR FUTURE SO give him a nice welcome and a cup of tea and then say "Nick, how old are you now? And what can we do to assist you at this time. Anything or nothing? As for Usain Bolt just remind him that one of our past (ex Rangers) players who became captain of the brilliant Caledonian team of yore was one named Bobby BOLT :-- Grizzled, toothless Bobby who done his job of marshalling the troops really good, like. "And this, Usain, is a club with a storied past, namely our most recent Scottish cup win. (shows him the video and the joy etc) You will also learn a lot from our young, talented, hungry and ,yes, speedy team who will also learn a lot from you as how to get speedier. Man, it's a marriage made in heaven except for the money, old fruit, which is not great but Inverness is a lovely place to relax and..... if you see NESSIE... then you may never want to leave...………. " Well, I can dream can't I, eh? P.S. Heh, stranger things have happened. If you don't try then you don't get. Will certainement put Caley Thistle on the global map again.
  20. Thanks CaleyD. much obliged. I got-in from the link and watched all the games so far. My Tuesday afternoon tunetime, like. Re the performances I have no idea why we have moaners and groaners on this site at all. The team are much faster than I have ever been used to seeing in my many past years. The boys are skilled and the footie is clever , determined and great from my point of view. The Ross County match was a standout for me and I am still talking to an old friend of mine in Inverness over the phone about it. It was all Caley Thistle in the first half and the drive and pace was great, even thrilling. I didn't really expect this because I remember the old days and a different set-up completely. Nowadays it seems to be all about youth and pace, but there is still plenty of skill there on show now as well. Bright future ahead for Caley. Premier League I hope? We just need more bums on seats...…. John Robertson's influence must be very good because these boys can play fast and furious football. AND they seem to be very disciplined. Ridgers is outstanding!
  21. Tarriffic (site)
  22. Thanks Scotty, Your last sentence is part of my problem. Try as I might I can no longer find the access points to click on to find the ICT UTube channel. It used to be on the right hand side of a page. Except that I can no longer find the page to bring it up despite trying every heading link that I can see. Is my memory fading? Possibly, but "they also serve who only stand and wait" or have reached the old fogie stage and have morphed into what some people see as a sad-sack of a man who admits it to get sympathy. So who really knows? Except that if it works then that's cunning in action, chums.
  23. Having difficulty in finding the match day videos. The access points seems to have been moved . When I first enter the site where do I go in sequence to start the search? They used to be placed together. I,e. ICT F.C. along with the U Tube links?
  24. I've heard that story before so there is no solution then unless we get everybody else on board. Which is unlikely to happen. I suppose?
