When I open up a Topic I get immediate excessive violent shimmering of the thread title with the numbers attached as soon as I place the mouse pointer on the thread number. It does seem to settle down but will continue for a few moments--the whole title of the thread will shimmer like crazy. Is that the site or my beloved problematic Internet Explorer 8. If I switch to Firefox or Chrome do you think that this will disappear? If so, which of these two would you think is best? --Chrome is blowing their horn about being faster and this is good for me but does faster mean more effcient and stable? Input would be appreciated....

Since being forced to download Internet Explorer 8, Windows Live Once Care Reg cleanerwill not install. IO get as far as clicking on the "click on install bvutton and then I am informed that DEP has prevented the isnstall due to a malicious or malfunctioning Add-ON....blah, blah> I did not believe it since I have had this programme running for years and it is good at picking up rogue CLSID files, whatever. So I started Internet Explorer-without-add-ons and the same thing happens. If I shut down DEP is that dangerous and even if I do this will that work do you think. OR is it Internet Explorer 8 which seems to pose lots of problems. Second question to which an answer is sought, please:- What is the difference between CPU rersources and RAM? Why can't the CPU go into RAM when any one process uses up all it's resources. I am getting a lot of this from F Secure Anti Virus and a couple of other proceses , such as Csrss.exe---when they run they use up 100 % of the CPU and the computer freezes. So I installed another 1 Gig of Ram but it has not stopped it. This is very serious because when I am watching the Caey Thistle highlights , suddenly the whole video will freeze for a few minutes and it is frustrating. Right! it is ......

Scarlet Pimple replied to Scotty's topic in Caley Thistle
IHE -- I just loooove your summaries. I canna see the highlights' until they are posted on the main site 'cos the BBC will not send them out to me 'cos they think I am going to sell them all over North America. Just shows what they know with all their technical expertise....eh? But IHE, sometimes you surprise me with your wizardry of the pen. Brilliant descriptive, flowing, lyrical, splendiferous, precise, domineering, dynamic, detailed, sober and palpitating passages. Fair makes my day , so it does. Keep up the good work, Itchy, and can you PM me and tell me whether I am now back in your good books? -
1 point per game is it not? then the team can cut loose with all their firepower and decimate all-comers, home or away.

Winamp--how do i make it the default player
Scarlet Pimple replied to Scarlet Pimple's topic in Technical Support
Does not work. Right clicking on Winamp displays the menue with many options available but that is not one of them. However, I clicked on Start, Control panel, Add/Remove and there was what I was looking for to the left of the list of programmes displayed. Choose "Access/ Defaults". I just knew it was there somewhere. So I selected Winamp as the default video player and it seemed to work. -

Crown Jaggie. Click on the Open All Mics from the main thread. This will open the actual Open All Mikes commentary player . Look to the right of that and you will see a few links. I spotted thelink for the commentary on this match alone--St Mirren V Invern right there. Hey Presto. Hope this helps. Scarlet -

C'mon Mannie--the CIS cup involves professional people, players and so forth. Not playboys. No doubt you would categorise Mr Butcher's decision to play a depleted team as a "professional decision" in the same way as a deliberate take-down, often brutal, in the box, is described by those who know about these things as a "professional foul".Which is another way of saying a cynical, cheating act designed solely to gain an unfair advantage by robbing an opposing player of a fair chance to score; and who cares if he gets injured or not. For me, an old fashioned, aging, footie- watcher since before you were even born I do not like "professional" anything in footie if it means that kind of thing becauseit is rather prevalent nowadays isn't it? It kind of goes along with much of the over -permissivness we see all arond us these days--like the gang rape in my next door village of Pitt Meadows here in Maple Ridge, Canada of a 16-year old girl which has also been splashed all over the Internet to such an extent that you would have to be on hoiday on the moon NOT to have seen or heard about it. Just because you disgagree with my sentiments about pride and such, and seem to think that being in the top league is the greatest thing since sliced bread, there is no requirement upon you to be patronising . Also, does that mean that you don't have too many scruples or very little real pride in the team--for you is it all just about glory? And is the achievement of filling the club's pockets with money the most important thing of all? Frankly, it does not seem to have brought unabounding happiness to this club since they first entered the "big league" . Many fans even say that last season for them was one of the best ever....so, how about you? Did you revel in the Niculae fiasco, the Brewster fiasco and the relegation shattering end to the season before last. I was not aware that either Niculae or Brewster was a bad person and despised as human beings. The reason for the agony that surrounded these two persons was because of their presence at the team which happened to be in the SPL. Had it been elsewhere their impact may very well not have been noticed to nearly the same extent and not cast a long shadow either. Once you start allowing this "professional" crap to enter into the equation then you are allowing precepts of true value to start slipping and that is as dangerous a precedent as sending boys to do a man's job in a situation where they end up getting thrashed to bits. For some of them who were not quite ready for that burning fire perhaps they didn't learn a great deal from it except how to hurt like hell in the sole interests of allowing a n ambitious Manager to pursue his "professional " dictates.

Kirishma is entitled to his opinion but, frankly speaking,it was HILARIOUS! I just hope Lionel is not reading this since we do all seem to have a really soft spot for A Great Guy!

Och, the SCARLET Pimple says "Hindsight is a great thing". Thank you King Beastie for these kind words. One of the avantages of being Scarlet is that when praise cometh one's way one can blush inconspiculously since the face remains a bright red. Grovelling is another matter. LOL

For the Manager to play the strongest team at all times and in all matches to show respect to the opposition and to ensure that the team has the best chance to win all games. For the players in the team to do their best to win fairly. For the team to play the fastest and most attractive football that they possibly can in the process; bearing in mind that this is all about entertainment, not the survival of the club in the SPL. If all of the above is in place then at the end of the season the fan will have received best value for money and should be satisfied with the end result.

Manfer I will never admit to you that I have trembles under my desk. You would insist on asking why! For me it is NOT about the result. If Caley Thistle had put out the strongest team they had, at the final whistle I would have said "All right, they did their best but were soundly beaten by a better team on the day. No regrets, no criticisms.Just another bad day at the office. But this was a brutal thrashing because the fantasy scenario I just described never happened--and we will never know what might have happened otherwise. It's about pride. It is not about winning a league game. And Terry just showed us that money for the club (by being higher than last place at the end of the season and staying up) is more important than pride in the club and it's reputation. And all this stuff about the cup being of no value--that is just hypocrisy. If ICT had beaten Celtic and gone on to a glorious final would the people on here, who are simply in self denial, be singing the same tune. Or, to put it more bluntly, if that is possible, Terry chickened out and acted cynically. I like Terry for many reasons but this I do not like . Lastly, by his action he also is saying that he probably does not have faith in the assembly of players that he already has and fears the worst, despite the fact that there are scads of games still to play. I sense his nervousness. Well, if that is so, then let's all give up now before our hearts are broken again by INEVITABLE relegation. And next time we play Celtic or Rangers let's all shout from the rooftops as the opposition comes out of the tunnel just before kick-off..."After you Claude, allow us to kiss your feet so that you don't give us a real doing today". PRIDE!

Exactly! My thoughts entirely Just remember that Craig Dargo faded after the big deal was offered. After he left Caley Thistle he never repeated the exploits made at Caley.. Which tends to indicate that he was playing his best football, or the circumstances fitted his style better, at ICT. And that he was playing as hard as he could to show that he was worth a punt at another club. Didn't work for him or the new club spectacularly. Adam Rooney was good in the First Division but has yet to prove that he has the staying power in the SPL and is able to repeat his performance this season. He may be forgetting that it was ICT that gave him the chance and the platform to shine. Sign him up for two years at a good salary but don't commit all the cash reserves to him or any other player.I don't thinkthat ICT has that kind of money...but who knows, I am only a Pimple after all.

Priceless pictures. Who would have thunk it? Fer heaven's sake!

Since Terry's "full-y fi" team has yet to gel and have a good run together we can't really say that he needs to panic and have another wholesale transfer-in of new players. However, there is evidence enough that certain players no longer can cut it or just don't have SPL STATUS yet tattooeed on their foreheads so he had better keep a good eye trained on possible prospects because another debacle like this will sour up the punters good style. I remain convinced that this defeat will not have the desired "rebound" effect being a players' resolve to demolish St Mirren. If anything , I think it will be the opposite and the team may well continue to struggle due to indecisiveness and lack of confidence. Of course, we all hope that that is not in fact what will happen. So, what then? Frankly, if no more money is available to bring in rock-solid and experienced defenders then all I can say is "What then?".

Very dangerous to play a weakened team against a top team like Cletic. Upside (supposedly) is that no player of real importance gets injured. But that feeling has to be weighed in the context of the fact that the Cup comes around only once a year whereas there is a long, long way to go in the league with many more games to play. The downside is that a heavy defeat can look bad in the record book. Secondly, the fans who actually made the trip to Parkhead deserved better than this.and, as someone has already pointed out , a full strength team COULD possibly have had a great result. Thirdly, the fans who stayed at home, for whatever reason, and support the club have a right to expect the team to perform as well as the reputation of the club demands. Fourthly, the morale of the club , and the players, might easily take a nosedive which could have the add-on effect of a severe loss of confidence in the players participating in the immediately-succeeding matches . Which is counter to whatever effect the suggested losses from injuries referred to in the "Upside" above could be. The reputation of the club could suffer and the action of fielding a weakened team could be viewed by a team like Celtic as somewhat insulting, and hand them a reason to run up a cricket score. If Celtic, or any other "big" team, realises that they are going to win and they have respect for the opposition then they may be less likely also to ease off and not slaughter ICT. In this case I don'tthink that Neil Lennon cared a whit what happened to ICT which is not good.A high score for them will also add to their confience and make it MORE difficult for teams to compete against themeffectivelyand, like it or not, the SPL needs both Rangers and Celtic. All in all , maybe I don't have a right to express too forcibly an opinion since I never get a chance to get to Tulloch Stadium because I live in Western Canada, but what I can say is that this result today leaves me more than a bit disgruntled ansd sick and I have a bad tyaste in my mouth that it was not a very courageous thing to do not to filed the very strongest team that the club could . Opinions requested though. :annoyed:

OMG! Now we have two intellectuals on the site. Bannerperson and Bucket with two "T's". There could be 3, I suppose, but Scarlet is so modest and rettiring that I don't think I can coax him to postt sometthing really eruditte in case his compettition destroys his fragile ego with ttheir ttempesttuous jealous ttirades in response. (Darn!--Buckett has impressed me so much that I have just noticed that I am now even putting in ttwo "T's" in everything.)That poem--awesome, like. Charles, will you please correct my grammirrr and spellnig. That's probably because I am also T Total as well as ttruly ttiresome. And I don't want to tttinker with words, I wantt tto gett itt rightt, I really do. Look after my boy, now, will you? He tries hard in really difficult circumstances. After he came to Codswallop Hall (still at the George, yes)the power went to his head a wee bit and he does need some guidance from time to time. From real Intellechuals , that is. Sincerely, DADDY PIMPERNEL --STILL GOING STROONG AT 86 YEARS OF AGE.WHAT A GUY!

Based on all the comments Celtic will be likely to serve out a thrashing then?
