Not familiar with Hainault . What is your take on him Scotty?

Wonderful news about Richie having reached the stage of hitting the turf. But it all depends on what surgery he had and whether or not he is just still young enough to recover fully. His lay off was very long , suggesting that this injury was a very difficult one to recover from. Which frankly puts the wind up me since it's been at least 30 years since I ripped my knee ligaments and I know that I will now never fully recover from it. Meaning that I can fall down at any time, even climbing a stairs, and each time this happens the recovery time is lengthened and more painful. Good luck Richie, you were the heart of the club in the past.

So, would you say that Yogi has ben very active of late or is it the fact that our cup success may be attracting a slightly better set of footballers from the South?

And Geronimo was an old guy when he surrendered tot he Yankee hordes of cavalrymen. -
Oh My! There are a few phrases in general use in Canada that I had to also scratch my head about when I came over just like the above one. "I could care less" is one I particularly found challenging I must admit. But of course when I put on my Brit hat after returning to Blighty, I change back to British talk as best I can ---bearing in mind that 40 years abroad sailing before the Red Flagged mast does change a fella. Canajins don't like us, that much to be honest. We are better educated and have a long background in history etc .A Manager of the Bank I joined over here once made it perfectly clear to me that my presence, as it represented competition and snotty -nosed advice ( in his view at least ) was "you lot come over here and tell us what to do" which was the shock of the century. No friendly handshake, no chit chat no welcome with a smile. .. So, the bottom line is :- you either make the effort to adapt and fit in without asking too many uppity questions or go back to where you came from. Going to the colonies is about survival and major effort and there are few hand-outs. Being a very hard worker,. with at least a modicum of brains and initiative does help but finding people who like you for yourself etc is alsoi very important. Go find your birds of a feather and flock together is a good survival strategy. Problem is you can't put an old head on young shoulders so gradually you adopt what you have o0therwise unless yo7u are "in" with a coerie of imntelligensia then you will be the one to stand out as either the renegade or the odd pone

If you take this one in, then you are in for an incredible ride and an incredible movie. In 3D with glasses supplied I recommend that you sit at the back of the theatre to avoid severe hearing loss or...take ear plugs with you into the theatre. And go to the bathroom before you enter because some of the scenes are gut wrenching or even spellbinding. But, that apart, this movie reflects what IS going to happen when the Big One hits the West Coast of America and Canada. It's countless years overdue at this moment so any day now, dearies, any day now this cataclysmic event, carrying a 10 or 11 or even 12 (!) category of 'quake , can strike us here in the West. At least we have Vancouver Island in the way to, possibly, protect us from the onslaught when the Tsunami arrives like a colossus of behemoth proportions, but personally speaking I don't think it will have much effect on it because there are really no mountains on that island and facing a wave that could easily be some 300 feet high with enormous weight and the tremendous power of water the River Fraser will be inundated for miles. The San Andreas fault is a fault line running right through Western California north and into the states above that. No one is spared, even British Columbia, where we live in Canada. This fault is the marker where the Pacific Plate meets the North American plate and the huge earthquake that will result when these two plates, currently gradually slipping under or over one another let go and slip. The power of this event is unimaginable and I am sure glad I live on somewhat high ground some 50 miles inland from Vancouver. The music alone is fantastic and the scenes are quite unbelievable. How they do these scenes or special, very realistic, effects is mind blowing. It's like you are sitting right there and privileged to be a witness to the event --on screen it is so realistic that it's downright scary. The helicopter scenes alone are worth the money.. I mean that. When I came out of the movie I was so gobsmacked that I declare I would have paid twice that amount if asked had I known what to expect. Funny thing was that my wife wanted to see the new one Jurassic World or something and we changed our mind at the last moment in the queue at the ticket cashier because the movie was about to start and we didn't have time to hang around in that line-up. Let me just say this---you won't be bored and sleepy. It's action from start to finish. I rarely ever go to a movie these days but this one was worth getting off the sofa for I can tell you. Cheers guys and dolls. Have a great time. And IHE, if you wear diapers, don't forget them if you are lucky enough to see this movie in a theatre near you. Scarlet's star rating: 5 out of 5.

IHE--That's so nice of you to do that all for me. What a great looking bike an'all. It's a Vindec I'm sure. Lots of loving tender care went into the making of it I can see that. Just the ticket for a night out in Alaska but, with no Moose handlebars, it's well a wee bit of 'Unfinished business" aint it? And the brand of booze is not quite right old lad. Let's try for Canadian beer or Extra Old Stock which has quite a bite to it. It's brewed up in Northern B.C. so we need to keep the home fires burning, like. -
IBM Riggs was my mother's butcher shop and I have been in it as a very young laddie. . Yes! Remember the smell of meat and the racks behind the counter. Some memories just stick don't they?
-
Bughtie and IBM--I just looooooove it when you blokes come on her. The memories of youth are very similar and I feel so much at home , just as if I was back in Sneck. What are the prices for a 3 bedroom detached house in good condition chaps? Saw some good looking ones up at IHE's old haunts at Ness Castle. Are they any good? Talking about castle Ness I didn't even know it existed for goodness sake. Does anyone know it's history? Where exactly is it? IHE can you show me it's location on a map? Ta Buckets.

3rd row down--Scarlet's Dad from Canada. A fine figure of a Moose.

And, trained by the Cirque de Soleil in Monteal in acrobatics, he sat on crossbars to entertain. Didn't you know that? Ask me another.....

If he can move his feet swiftly , he's a big lad and could develop into another one of these pesky Englanders who "did well". Just like Ernie from Wigan . You know......''OOOOH oor Ernie is doing ever so good."

I enjoyed my last visit in 2008 Charles. Found the café a wee bit expensive and had to scratch deep to find ma bawbees but there was some really interesting stuff.

Interesting pictures.": Battle of Wounded Knee--some battle!! Brutal Massacre more like. Sioux clan as I recall. The Cavalry corralled them with their women and children out in the open. There is talk that someone deliberately fired a shot or cracked a whip and the U.S soldiers replied with a cannonade of bullets which mowed the Indians down like flies. They had no chance at all of survival. Buffalo Bill was a pragmatist, recognizing that the Injun way of life was more or less doomed. He had tried to do what he could for his people but the odds were always against him. The yanks wanted their land and squeezed them , and squeezed them and squeezed them. So he parlayed his talents into parodying the Indian way of life and the Westerners lapped it up; even Kings and Notables wanted to meet him. He was feted and sensationalized and was quite a smart guy all told. In Canada the Indians have always come off second best. They were treated very poorly and taken advantage of to coin a , well, very euphemistic, phrase. The whites during the last century took all the Indigenous children from their families and shut them in RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS where they subjected them to all kinds of horrors, physical beatings and controls, sexual attacks and abuse on a grand scale and mind-scarred most of the kids for life. I think about 50,000 children were affected all told. They tried so hard to eradicate all the Indian-ness out of them and turn them into White people-- a strategy that only served to confuse them , crush them with loneliness and grief as they pined for their indigenous families and failed in their stupid, selfish objectives. A Supreme court case was held recently to try to redress the wrongs perpetrated on these poor children and a devastating judgement was made and large reparations agreed on for the remaining Indians in Canada who suffered so much. Many of them still live in appalling conditions and many of the Chiefs have turned the situation to their personal advantage where the Government has shovelled money into the villages in the hope that that would be a salve on their consciences. But they never instituted any controls over the spending and most of the money appears to have landed in the pockets of the Chiefs and many reservation Indians still live in wretched conditions, their children do not get their proper education and their women are either raped or murdered in the thousands--apparently mostly by Indigenous males whose character and minds have been twisted and warped and changed by the devastating effects of the past. Stories about guys like Geronimo and Cochise his side-kick in the West are legend. The cavalry could never ever find them and they simply finally ran out of time and victuals because their cattle were also being stolen by the Yanks as they over-run territory after territory in the U S. Geronimo also ended up a North American hero and was as feted as Buffalo Bill ever was. Wherever he went the crowds cheered him for his spirit of Independence and he was looked upon as a true American hero. But, actually, as time hade worn on, he turned from being simply a renegade on the move with a mission into a vicious savage killer but many say this reputation was no worse than the people who so relentlessly pursued and harried him to the end, taking everything he ever valued from him in the process. I think the cheers were more for the underdog than for the actual man, Geroninmo, and amongst the admiration for his capacity to outsmart the white man there was also hidden guilt trying to get out of their systems. Cochise was the forerunner of Geronimo but they had separated when younger and went their separate ways. -
IBM it's nice to be transported back by a memory or a whiff of perfume isn't it? The older I get the more I tend to reminisce and ....sometimes....I get weepy. Am I normal Charlie?

Huh! Who would have thunk it? Looking good.

A very comprehensive and informative reply, Scotty. But I prior checked the password with my manila file folder where I store a record of all stuff relevant to the internet item or site I am accessing and confirmed that there was no capital first letter in mine.. Because there are only 4 letters in it and I have used it for years then, assuredly, it was inputted correctly. Now it has miraculously cleared up so all's well that ends well. Personally I don't "do" the likes of Facebook, Twitter or Linked in ". The first is a non -essential fad, the second, twittering is for the little birds and Stephen Harper, the Canadian Prime Minister whose tenure in Office is about to be obliterated so what does he know about the modern world anyway*()--only what he thinks will get votes. Sigh. And Linked -In --nope! Only for the upwardly mobile yuppies in suits making connections, moving and grooving and impressing their fellow Linked-in confederates. Me? I just love animals and children and lead a simple life. You-all have a good day and I leave you with the thought--if Vladimir Put-the-Boot-in drops a nuclear device what then......? As Freddy Mrercury once sang with Queen..."Nothing really matters at all !" I

Smee--good one! But "square goes" are out of the question for you and me I am sure 'cos for you it would mean a 5000+ mile journey. So, once again maybe just let's.... Keep It Simple Sam. That way we can just KISS and make up, like, afterwards One "like" is quite enough for auld Scarlet. So if you don't get one then you know I was not too impressed or not too interested in the topic. It's a nice and diplomatic way of being positive and proactive without destroying the more sensitive persons in our midst. Do you know that there are some persons who really enjoy just lurking and learning and the last think we need to do is give a "no like" vote to a first poster so he/she never comes back. Thinks..."I don't know who invented the KISS principle but he sure knew his stuff !! " I'm assuming that if I like your post then all I have to do is just click on the green button then--is that it?. So if you don't get a

Unable to log in last night. The system kept telling me that I had either: 1. Typed the password wrongly or ...2. I had CAPS" stuck on . So, using the email link(s), I reset the password exactly as before but then was told I had to wait 14 minutes, 12, minutes etc so I gave up and went to bed. I tried everything , including putting a piece of metal under the caps-lock button to make absolutely sure that, despite the fact that the blue light was not indicating that Caps were on at all , it still gave me the same message that I had Caps" on. Anyway, this morning, a miracle! I got in just fine although I still had to type in both the user name and the password and am wondering if they will eventually be added automatically. Don't really mind typing the password which is very small but feel that it would be great if the user name was displayed automatically because it includes capital letters. Yes, for me, KISS (Keep it simple Sam) is my mantra and accessing the contents (with pictures), plus accessing the match video reports, would be enough to keep me quite happy. The reason I liked the old listing for the contents is because I became so used to it and so familiar with it's intricacies that naturally it was easy to zip through them. And the individual threads etc. were set much closer together so that there was less work for me to see them quickly and control changing from one to the next one. Probably Bughtie would agree because he has the same eye affliction and vision impairment as myself. Otherwise the site looks modern and clean but there seems to be rather large gaps (i.e. wasted space) between lines and/or paragraphs unlike the former site which was more neatly packed shall I say. For me, it's not so much what the site looks like aesthetically but the functionality and ease of access which is vital. Example:- as I type here, for me to go to the next paragraph there is a three line gap between the one I am on now and that next one. This means a lot of scrolling up and down to check what one has already written if you need (or want) to do that. By the way where has the "LIKES" list , showing how many "likes" each poster has received, gone to ?

He's right. there's no pictures at all with IE 11 being used. IHE must be wondering why? I miss them too IHE. I can find most things but no emoticom for a "guy scratching his head." A manual wouid be nice just to get me started and allow an older fella figure it all out. Also I don't like change to be frank.
