  1. I do think we have to make some changes and this is an ideal game to do so. MacGregor will give the team some much needed energy and while not knowing too much about Harper, worth throwing him in now when not under so much pressure.
  2. In the two home games I have seen, we have been poor defensively and lost goals by poorly defending crosses. We badly need a good defensive right back but we go and sign another forward??. The route 1 football we seem to be playing simply won't work with White as he isn't good enough in the air and his hold up play is poor. Would it be better with Todorov, possibly as he is better in the air and has more awareness of what is happening around him. We also scored two very good goals against Raith and Cove when we did move the ball quickly and wide so the potential is there. Trafford needs benched as he slows the game down too much and always receives the ball facing the wrong way. Give at least one of the youngsters a start on Saturday and see what happens.
  3. That's the problem defensively in a nutshell. Full backs are playing way to high and wide and this causes real problems. The centre backs are also playing far too square and one needs to tuck in beside the other. Really basic tactics that should be simple to work on.
  4. A poor performance from us but a deserved win which should have been much more comfortable. Defensively we were poor and often played 2v 2 with the Cove strikers which almost ended badly on several occasions. God knows what position Brad was playing as it wasn't right back. Both Cove's goal came down the right side although Vincent should have done better at matching the Cove player's run and stopping the cross into the box. Defensively, we need to sharpen up especially Donaldson who has been poor both defensively and his distribution has been equally poor. I also think tactically we were poor and the ploy of all our defenders up for corner's leaves us really vulnerable on the counter attack. Also, towards the end of the game, we stopped leaving men up the park which just invited Cove to send more players into our box. Robbi seems to be aware of these issues so hopefully they will be addressed. I think Todorov must start ahead of White for several reasons. Firstly he is more mobile and brings players into the game, secondly, he makes runs that White doesn't and gambles and lastly, he will score more goals than White will.
  5. I think we have as realistic chance to win the Championship as anyone else. I don't think Utd have strengthened hugely, apart from Shankland and he will not win the Championship for Utd on his own. Dundee are a bit of an unknown quality but again haven't seen anything to hugely worry about in terms of signings. Rookie manager as well.Again, it is similar with Patrick, I haven't seen any significant signings. The only thing that would concern me is that the Dundee clubs have significant financial backing to change things as could Partick if they get taken over.
  6. And has done exactly what since? Rangers were also a shambles at this time. Speaking to some Utd fans at the playoffs, they would have bee n happy to get shot of him because if poor management and performances.
  7. The point I was trying to make that signing Shankland guarantees nothing. If you rely on only one player for goals, if something happens to him, you have a problem, as happened to Ayr last season. Last season, Utd also had Safranko, who I think is a better player than Shankland and offered more to the team. Utd have been favourites for the last 3 years and hugely under achieved and I don't see anything yet to indicate to me, that they are guaranteed to win the Championship. You need a good manager to do this and I am not convinced Neilson is a good manager.
  8. I honestly don't think we have missed out with this. Surely a player of his supposed ability would want to try and better/improve his game which he will not do at Utd. Looks like he seriously lacks ambition which is a big failing in my opinion.
  9. But then you have to find replacements at this late stage, and with no realistic sums of money to do this, we are at a competitive disadvantage even before the season starts. Do you ever think your posts through?
  10. So did I but think these were meant for Business sponsors.
  11. Of the vodka and the coke???
  12. And just maybe some posters will not be so quick to jump in and criticise the board in future as they were when this story broke.
  13. He is probably real but hopefully in a galaxy far far away.
  14. Glad to see it's not just me who thinks that referees (and all the officials) act in a much more arrogant manner than previously. Sights of referees/fourth officials wagging their fingers at players/managers as if they were naughty schoolboys, is just embarrassing and you rarely see foreign officials do this. Refereeing standards do seem t be declining globally but the refereeing in Scotland this season has been really really poor and affected most teams (with the possible exception of Rangers). Surely someone sees the glaring mistakes made by the referees and takes them aside to discuss, if they do it doesn't work as they seem to continue making the same mistakes (Andrew Dallas and poor penalty decisions anyone). Part of the problem is that I am convinced referees now seem to be guessing at decisions, possibly as they feel they have to make a decision but so often, they get it wrong and suffer the consequences for it when making a decision only when 100% sure would save them untold grief.
  15. Tell you what Alan, as I don't think you have ever had anything positive to say about the team, why don't you find another team to bitch and moan about as you bring nothing positive or constructive to this debate.
  16. Pretty poor if that is the case.
  17. I reiterate that, IMO, Polworth's challenge was not a sending off. Certainly a yellow card but interestingly, I was sitting beside some Dundee United fans and even they thought a yellow card would be fair. It was undoubtedly the reaction of the United player that got Polworth sent off. Strange then that the United player had no blood injury or concussion and was up and running about in minutes. As for Donaldson's foul, certainly a yellow card but a red?. Again, IMO, it was a bad tackle but one you see in many games without a sending off so one of the few decisions the ref got correct.
  18. Definitely a foul for us in the box though that yet again the idiot of a referee didn't get right. In addition, the number of times White was clearly fouled but got nothing was really poor refereeing. Something really has to be done about the standard of refereeing as the ref on Saturday was equally as poor.
  19. Just seen the picture of Polworth's challenge on the BBC website, just highlights how poor the decision was to send him off
  20. Good performance from us in both halfs but game ruined as a spectacle by that idiot of a referee. It was a yellow card at best as the United player did lower his head. He then proceeded to thrash about as if he was seriously injured but strangely, he didn't have to go off for treatment and was running about straight away. Don't know if anyone else noticed but it looked like the ref tried to play an advantage for us due to a foul in our box and was about to pull play back for us when the Polworth incident happened. To then compound his mistake, Utd then get the free kick. Shouldn't really be surprised at the ref's performance as hugely similar to his in the last Country game. Truly dreadful refereeing for which there is no excuse. Don't believe the game is over as Utd were pretty poor, just goes to show that money doesn't always buy you quality and how poor a manager Neilson is.
  21. It really should be a big attendance irrespective of the night given the importance of the game but I somehow doubt it. In my opinion, it will not be because of the price but the apathy the people of Inverness show towards ICT. Too many of our supporters also seem to want to pay as little as possible to watch us, dropping the price hasn't worked in the past and no reason why it should on this occasion.
  22. Have to agree with Gregor. The aim for yesterday was to progress to the next round as are the games against Utd. Don't care if we play really badly or are outplayed as long as we progress. Team are trying their hardest to do it for the fans so let's stop the carping and get behind the team
  23. It's not and Banks of Dee don't want it, are not prepared to go into the league without notice. Place could be ours if things go to plan with Cove getting promoted.
  24. Probably as protection for the team in the Premiership.
  25. That's not what I said and you know it. People can still pay at the gate if they don't want to get into debt. As with other posters, I'm off to other threads.
