I think you're spot on Laura. As funerals go, Dave's was a good one.
  2. I thought the SPL outlawed such arrangements after the Motherwell / Gretna debacle. How much rental were Aberdeen charging us per game again?
  3. Foran terrific! Thought he had an absolute howler. Couldn't do anything right though he did play his part on the build up to the goal.
  4. Oh dear, that was pretty poor. I'm starting to anticipate another big clear out this May.
  5. Thank you for sharing this. Truly hilarious. Referees know, like we all do, that McCulloch falls over every time someone looks at him.
  6. That was undoubtedly his finest hour.
  7. Her Majesty's gonna get you Her Majesty's gonna get you .........

Sorry to hear this. One of the posters who was on the go back in the early days. We are poorer without him.
  9. Think it will be interesting to see how many fans Rangers bring on the 24th. Some of their fans may choose to not put any money into the pockets of other clubs except Rangers. ICT may indeed be concerned about getting paid for ticket sales. I can't help but wonder how Rangers will get here. An over-night stay seems unthinkable unless somebody else pays for it. Wonder what McCoist's mini bus driving skills are like. Expected to see lots of Rangers fans in the Sneck defiantly wearing shirts and scarves today. Didn't see one. It seems to have totally knocked Gers fans for six. What really cracks me up is the irony of HER MAJESTY'S REVENUE & CUSTOMS chasing Rangers. Wonder if they'll be singing God save the Queen this week. If Rangers fans aren't, Celtic fans might be.
  10. England manager - nah!!! Some role among the back room staff - unlikely but not impossible

The idea of Terrry Butcher and Paolo di Canio negotiatiing over the phone about Lee Cox appeals to me. I'd buy a ticket to lug into that conversation.
  12. And who's going to pay for all this, dougal? It's not pretty, but to be frank, not enough people turn up to justify anything better.

The great mystery now is when we do get a penalty who will take it.
  14. Am I right in thinking that all our home wins this season have come when we have been shooting north in the first half?

This thread title has all the verbal economy of an Aberdonian's death notice in the Evening Express.

Another Greek Caley Thistle fan - Excellent news!!
  17. Yes, many happy hours spent at the Innes before and after the game. The two memories that spring to mind are the the relegation wake where despite our disappointment it was very clear that life would go on and Caley Thistle were not dead. Also, remember returning there after the 1-0 win against Celtic in the Cup to find it shut (not sure what Colin was thinking about really)but we all somehow managed to get in for a wee celebration. Looking forward to my first visit of 2011-12 on Saturday.

Give him a break. The smell of fish would be a great distraction to someone from Wiltshire.
  19. I am not a golfer but I enjoy watching golf on the TV and have been to odd days at various championships. I thought it would be fun to buy a season ticket for the Barclays Scottish Open and did so in March for the pricely sum of ?55. Not bad for a possible five days entertainment. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will do it again next year. Certainly, Saturday's problems were frustrating and I visited the course that evening when it looked like play would re-commence. The whole place had really taken a hammering. Certainly the leading players were taking advantage of Castle Stuart with its wide fairways, short par 4's and others that are downhill all the way. That's not uncommon on the European Tour where many tournaments are won with scores miles under par. I also saw plenty examples of how Castle Stuart can bite back. I got the impression the players were really enjoying the excperience. Also read in a newspaper today that Jim Furyk was watching the tournament on TV down south getting ready for the British Open and is keen to come next year. Hopefully, there are more like him. If you weren't there this year, plan to go in 2012. You'll enjoy it. So here are the things that impressed me most. There are lots of really good vantage points. Plenty places where you'll get a great view. Probably the worst course from this point of view is the Old Course at St Andrews. Getting to and from the course was simplicity itself. The car parks and shuttle buses were very well organised. It will often take longer to get out of the Caledonian Stadium car park after a game. When the sun shines the place truly looks stunning. It has to be seen to be appreciated. TV does not give you the full picture. The work that must have gone into getting the course ready for Sunday was monumental. I tip my hat to everybody involved.

I quite like the Local Hero tune. It works for me. I guess over the years we have come to the conclusion that it will be impossible to find something that pleases everybody.

I think it would be a great song to play at full time when we win (which is largely how it has been used thus far). Remember buying the single back in '74!! Showing my age now.

A little birdie told me a trip to Bristol Rovers may well be on this tour.
  24. Seeing your team beat the Old Firm never loses its appeal. Watching that ICT team grow in confidence while Celtic slowly but surely lost theirs was wonderful. Tomorrow will be a day for ICT fans to vote and gloat. Enjoy it folks.
  25. Interesting times. I guess part of me is as amazed as most other posters. Roy, Russell, Grant and Stuart have all made a massive contribution to Caley Thistle in the last decade. On that point, I think, we are all agreed. Playing time must be nearly up for both Roy and Golly but Munro and Duncan both have a few years left and clubs will be interested in them. It's very easy for fans to get a bit sentimental about players who have been around for a long time. As ICT fans we have been used to previous managers tinkering with the squad each summer - two or three out and in. Terry's approach seems to be different and that doesn't mean it's wrong. The manager has got to be asking himself how he can improve Caley Thistle. How can he take them to the next level. If he's not doing that then he shouldn't be in the job. All of these players have never been able to get ICT to the top six. With each passing year they will be less likely to contribute in a manner that will move ICT forward. No doubt there will be others moving out too and everybody about to go out of contract will be feeling very nervous right now. It looks like we could have a good few unfamiliar faces in place come the start of 2011-12 and the challenge for Butcher is twofold. First of all he need to be find players who are better than the ones he has disposed of. Secondly, he needs to ensure his new squad gels together quickly enough to make a reasonable start to the new season. The SPL can be a very unforgiving place for a club making a slow start.
